Chapter 193: Chapter 196: Ring

"Congratulations, Designer Quincy, on successfully surpassing ten million followers online!"

Felix Preston bent down slightly and solemnly presented the flowers in his hands to Sonia Quincy.

"Thank you." Sonia Quincy took the flowers, brought them closer to smell their fragrance, and said, "They smell wonderful."

"Do you like them?" Felix Preston sat down by the hospital bed, asking with an expectant look on his face.

Sonia Quincy nodded. "I do."

Then, she immediately placed the flowers on the bedside table. "What about Sandy? Is she still in the bath?"

"..." Felix Preston blinked, gazing at her. "Sandy is still in the bath."

"Okay," Sonia Quincy replied.

"Um..." Felix Preston adjusted his glasses, his gaze repeatedly darting toward the flowers, looking like he wanted to say something but was hesitating.

Sonia Quincy could tell he seemed to have something to say, so she asked patiently, "What is it?"

He pursed his lips, hesitating for a few seconds before speaking. "Sonia, do you want to take another look at the flowers I gave you?"

"Hm?" Sonia Quincy frowned, not understanding why Felix Preston wanted her to look again. But despite her confusion, she did as he wished and picked up the flowers once more.

"So, I’ll take another look?"

"Mhm!" Felix Preston moved a little closer, fixing his gentle, clear eyes on Sonia Quincy, his expression inexplicably a little tense.

"Sonia, look carefully."

Sonia Quincy’s eyes widened, and she obediently looked closer.

The flowers from Felix Preston were very elegant. Light green wrapping paper encircled dozens of blooming white lychee roses, with just two small, different-colored bunny roses nestled in the very center as an accent. Beyond that, there was nothing else.

Just like him—simple and clean, yet gentle and beautiful.

Sonia Quincy carefully examined every single flower, and only at the very end did she discover a card tucked into a corner near the wrapping paper.

But there was nothing written on the card; it was completely blank.

Sonia Quincy reached out to pick up the card, but it was too heavy. At first, she couldn’t even lift it.

"Huh?" She was slightly startled and instantly guessed that something was tied underneath the card.

"What’s under here?" She looked up at Felix Preston, already unable to stop herself from smiling before she even knew what it was.

Felix Preston laughed along with her, his cheeks turning a little red. "Why don’t you take it out and see for yourself?"

Sonia Quincy narrowed her eyes. "So mysterious?"

Felix Preston raised an eyebrow. "Of course."

"Alright, then." Sonia Quincy grabbed the card and, with a bit of force, pulled the hidden object straight out of the flowers.

Rose petals pressed against each other as a red velvet jewelry box emerged from between them. It was tied to the card with a fishing line, dangling and swaying before Sonia Quincy’s eyes.

Sonia Quincy took the jewelry box, but instead of rushing to open it, she looked at Felix Preston and asked, "What’s this?"

"Ahem..." Felix Preston coughed, his face red. His voice suddenly grew a little hoarse. "Y-You’ll know if you open it."

Sonia Quincy studied his shy expression for a moment before opening the jewelry box in front of him.

The object inside the box was small, but it carried an extraordinary meaning.

Sonia Quincy stared at it, stunned. Her eyes held shock, but even more so, pleasant surprise.

"...A gold ring?" She took the ring out of the jewelry box and slowly held it up before Felix Preston’s eyes.

Felix Preston nodded. "Yes, a gold ring."

"W-Why are you suddenly giving me a gold ring?" Sonia Quincy wiggled her fingers, earnestly admiring the gold ring in the early winter sunlight.

The ring was a plain band, with no decorations or engravings—just a simple, clean little circle.

But Sonia Quincy still found it beautiful.

Felix Preston didn’t look at the ring, only at Sonia Quincy. He smiled, raised his hand to gently stroke her face, and said softly, "Our wedding rings were lost a long time ago. I looked for them for a long while but never found them. So, I thought about it and decided to just buy a new pair."

"With Sandy born safe and sound, our new life is just beginning. We should buy something new to celebrate it."

"Mhm!" Sonia Quincy broke into a radiant smile. "Didn’t you say you bought a pair? Where’s yours?"

Felix Preston reached into his coat pocket, pulled out an identical red velvet jewelry box, and opened it.

"Mine’s right here."

"Then let me put it on for you," Sonia Quincy said.

Felix Preston obediently extended his hand. "Okay."

The plain gold band was pure yet dignified. On Felix Preston’s strong, slender ring finger, it was simply a pleasure to look at.

Once the ring was on, Felix Preston took Sonia Quincy’s hand and, in turn, proactively slipped the other ring onto the ring finger of her right hand.

Sonia Quincy’s fingers were long and fair. Even giving birth to a child hadn’t caused her figure to change in the slightest.

The brilliant gold ring on her fair, slender finger didn’t look tacky at all. Instead, it added a touch of understated elegance.

The more Felix Preston looked, the more his heart stirred. He couldn’t resist lifting her hand and placing a soft, tender kiss on her ring.

"Sonia." He pressed Sonia Quincy’s hand to his cheek and rubbed against it adoringly.

"Hm?" Sonia Quincy answered him softly.

His lips curved slightly into a gentle, entrancing smile. "I want to kiss you."

"!!" Sonia Quincy’s heart skipped a beat, then began to pound furiously.

"No!" She pulled her hand back and said with feigned seriousness, "This is a hospital. The doctors, nurses, and all of Sandy’s many, many relatives could walk in at any moment. We can’t be doing ’that kind of thing’."

"What do you mean, ’that kind of thing’?" Felix Preston was amused by her peculiar phrasing and laughed. "I just want to kiss you. I wasn’t thinking of doing anything else inappropriate."

"That’s not allowed either!" Sonia Quincy still refused him.

He blinked innocently and asked, aggrieved, "But why? I haven’t gotten to kiss you in so long, and now we finally have the room to ourselves..."

"Serves you right!" Sonia Quincy gloated. "Who was the one throwing a tantrum at me a while back?"

"I was wrong." Felix Preston was quick to admit his mistake. While admitting it, he secretly scooted closer to Sonia Quincy, then tried to steal a kiss when she wasn’t looking.

Sonia Quincy dodged in time to avoid his kiss, but he shamelessly pressed closer, insistent. The two of them dissolved into giggling and roughhousing.

"Look at our Sandy, all clean and sweet-smelling..." Hannah Sutton came in carrying Sandy. The moment she opened the hospital room door, she saw the two people on the bed playing around.

"..." She froze on the spot, suddenly too embarrassed to walk any further into the room.

"..."

Hearing her voice, the two people on the bed first stiffened, then began spouting nonsensical gibberish.

"Sonia, this strand of your hair, why does it have so many split ends?" Felix Preston nonchalantly let go of Sonia Quincy, casually grabbing a strand of her hair and pretending to examine it.

Sonia Quincy leaned her head on his shoulder and said with great seriousness, "I have no idea. Maybe it wanted to dance, so it’s trying to practice the basics first?"
