Chapter 160: Chapter 163: The Preston Family’s Daughter-in-law is This Fierce

"Of course I have evidence!" Miranda Morgan held her head high, utterly dismissive of Sonia Quincy’s question.

"Sonia Quincy, have you forgotten how much you enjoyed yourself at my establishment? These people behind me are all living, breathing proof that you got their services for free!"

"...And?" Sonia Quincy stared into Miranda Morgan’s eyes, her expression the picture of innocence. "Do these people behind you have an audio recording of me not paying? Or perhaps a video?"

"You..." Miranda Morgan choked on her words. "Do I need video or audio recordings to expose you? Every single one of them has personally ’serviced’ you. They know better than anyone whether you paid!"

"Oh," Sonia Quincy replied dismissively, then feigned confusion. "You sound so righteous, but I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean by ’serviced’?"

"Hah..." Miranda Morgan sneered. "Sonia Quincy, stop playing dumb with me. What do you think I mean by ’serviced’?"

"I don’t know," Sonia Quincy said, blinking guilelessly with a look of pure innocence. "The word ’serviced’ came out of your mouth, not mine. How would I know what it means?"

"...So you’re determined to play dumb, is that it?" Miranda Morgan grew flustered at her feigned ignorance.

Sonia Quincy said, "Weren’t you the one repeatedly claiming I took services from your men for free and demanding I pay you back? If you don’t explain the situation clearly, how am I supposed to give you any money?"

"You..." Miranda Morgan was at a loss for words.

Sonia Quincy looked at her and spread her hands in a helpless gesture. "You demand I pay you, yet you refuse to clarify what for. You’re a strange one, aren’t you?"

"..." Being rebuffed like this made Miranda Morgan burn with frustration, but she had no justifiable reason to explode.

She glared at Sonia Quincy, her lips twisted in a sneer. After a long moment, she finally conceded.

"Fine. You want an explanation? I’ll give you one."

"Mhm." Sonia Quincy was all ears.

Miranda Morgan said, "What I mean by ’serviced’ is simple. You frequently came to my establishment and had these boys behind me provide you with certain... stimulating services. But you never paid after you were done. That’s why I’m calling you out for skipping the bill, and why I’m here today to collect."

She had made herself perfectly clear. Not only had Sonia Quincy heard it all, but so had the crowd of onlookers blocking the doorway, who didn’t miss a single word.

"Oh my god..."

After a collective gasp, the crowd of onlookers erupted into a frenzy. A wave of gossip washed over Sonia Quincy.

"’Stimulating services’? Isn’t she just talking about hiring male escorts for hookups?"

"Good lord, the Preston family’s daughter-in-law is that wild? She secretly hired that many escorts all by herself! Can her body even handle that?"

"Wait, isn’t the Preston family’s daughter-in-law more than eight months pregnant? Why would she be out hiring escorts?"

"Heh, maybe she thinks it’s more thrilling to mess around while pregnant."

"Tsk, tsk. Escorts showing up at the door demanding their fee. I’ve lived a long life, but I’ve never seen anything like it."

This was a retirement community, so most of the residents were elderly.

When it came to gossip, the elderly didn’t mince words. Their comments were as vicious as could be, with no regard for the feelings of those involved.

Evan Yates held back, his anger building until he felt like he was about to explode.

"Sonia."

He touched Sonia Quincy’s arm, about to ask if he should disperse the crowd of onlookers. But before he could get the words out, he caught a glimpse of a male model in the corner of his eye, filming them with his phone.

"...What the hell are you doing?!" His expression turned icy. He immediately pointed at the man hiding in the corner and snapped, "Who said you could film this?"

The man flinched, retorting guiltily, "I-I... why can’t I? This is all evidence!"

"Evidence, my ass!" Evan Yates cursed. Unable to swallow his fury, he started to rush forward to confront him.

"Evan Yates!" Sonia Quincy reached out and stopped him again, preventing him from doing anything rash.

"Sonia!" he stomped his foot in frustration. "That damn gigolo is filming you!"

"Let him film if he wants to." Sonia Quincy looked unconcerned. In fact, she was ’even a little excited.’

’She was just wondering how she could go viral. If this model films her and posts it online, she might not have to figure out how to generate her own buzz.’

"Sonia!" Evan Yates had no idea what was going through her mind; he just felt like he was about to die of anxiety.

Sonia Quincy actually had the nerve to smile at him. "Easy there. Just follow my lead."

Evan Yates: "...There’s a ’lead’ to this damn mess?"

Sonia Quincy raised an eyebrow. "Of course."

Then, she turned her gaze back to Miranda Morgan and returned to the previous topic. "Since you claim I had those men behind you provide services for me, can you please produce some tangible evidence to prove I actually received these services?"

Miranda Morgan repeated herself, "Sonia Quincy, do I need evidence to expose you?"

Sonia Quincy refused to follow her script. "If you don’t have video or audio, my order history would work too. You run a nightclub, don’t you? You must have records."

Miranda Morgan sounded a bit unsure. "...Like I said, I don’t need any of that to expose you!"

"Why not?" Miles Kendrick interjected. "Everything requires proof. Without proof, it’s slander. When you spout nonsense like this without a shred of evidence, we are well within our rights to sue you!"

"...So sue me. You got the guts?" Miranda Morgan rolled her eyes, completely dismissing Miles Kendrick’s warning.

Miles Kendrick: "I certainly have the guts to sue. But do you have the guts to answer the complaint?"

Miranda Morgan: "Why would I answer to you? I’m here for Sonia Quincy’s money, not yours. What are you, her lawyer?"

Miles Kendrick straightened his spine. "I can be, at a moment’s notice."

"Pfft..." Miranda Morgan’s face dripped with scorn.

Miles Kendrick was a lawyer; he never allowed anyone to disrespect his profession or his abilities. Seeing Miranda Morgan’s contemptuous attitude, his professional instincts instantly kicked in.

He rolled up his sleeves and began bombarding Miranda Morgan with a torrent of legal jargon.

Miranda Morgan couldn’t understand a word of it, but she couldn’t stand Miles Kendrick’s smug expression, so she started bickering with him nonsensically.

While the two of them argued, Sonia Quincy’s gaze remained fixed on Miranda Morgan.

’Miranda Morgan had clearly come prepared. The strange thing is, she couldn’t produce any actual evidence of me using the escorts and not paying. To be so self-righteous without any proof, and to be completely unafraid of me calling the police or suing her... the whole scene is far too familiar. It would be hard *not* to guess what’s going on.’

"Hey."

Taking advantage of a lull while Miranda Morgan caught her breath, Sonia Quincy suddenly asked, "Cecilia Quincy sent you, didn’t she?"
