Chapter 150: Chapter 153: Your Sister is Crazy
Felix Preston studied the design draft in front of him and replied with great seriousness, "I haven’t seen the original work, so I can’t comment on how similar it is to the original. But I think your copy is exceptionally well done, Sonia. It looks like you have a real talent for it."
"...Hahaha." Sonia Quincy forced a few stiff laughs. "Thank you for the compliment," she said to Felix Preston. "That gives me a sudden burst of motivation to keep practicing my copies."
Felix Preston’s lips curved into a smile. "Can I exit this directly? Or should I save it for you first?"
Sonia Quincy said, "You can just exit. I already saved it beforehand."
At her words, Felix Preston’s long index finger slid lightly across the screen, swiping Sonia Quincy’s design draft into the background.
That tablet held too many of Sonia Quincy’s little secrets. With Felix Preston about to use it, she couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy.
She sidled up to Felix Preston, her anxious eyes tracking his every move. "What do you need the tablet for?" she asked, feigning nonchalance.
Felix Preston said gently, "I saved an important file on this tablet a while ago. I need it now, so I just want to find it."
"Oh..." Sonia Quincy nodded, slowly letting out the breath she had been holding.
She had never touched the file Felix Preston was talking about, so she wasn’t worried about him discovering any of her secrets anymore.
"Found it."
It didn’t take Felix Preston long to find the file. He then saved it to the home screen.
"Sonia, send this file to me on WeChat."
With that, he handed the tablet back to Sonia Quincy.
Sonia Quincy tapped the green icon on the home screen, logged into her WeChat account, and quickly forwarded the file to Felix Preston before her messages had a chance to refresh.
"It’s sent."
Felix Preston patted her on the head. "Thanks, Sonia."
Sonia Quincy turned off the tablet, her back breaking out in a cold sweat.
’That was a close one...’
...
Once the investment was secured, Felix Preston’s studio was quickly up and running.
Newly hired employees began arriving one after another. Even the long-sought-after 3D modeler seamlessly joined Felix Preston’s studio, thanks to arrangements made by Sonia Quincy and Renee Sinclair.
Meanwhile, Sonia Quincy successfully completed a project referred to her by Mina Jennings, and the final payment of 120,000 was deposited into her account the day the job was finalized.
Everything was moving in the right direction.
That day, to celebrate the studio’s successful launch, Evan Yates suggested they have a small dinner party in the hospital room. It wouldn’t be a big gathering—just their usual group, plus Jasper Linden.
At six in the evening, Evan Yates left the studio. On his way, he picked up Mrs. Preston, who had just finished teaching her class, and they came to the hospital together.
Lynn Preston had also managed to get off work early for a change. She bumped into Jasper Linden at the hospital entrance, so they came up together.
Keeping an eye on the time, Sonia Quincy gave the hospital room a quick tidying up.
"Felix! Sonia!"
Lynn Preston pushed open the hospital room door and walked in, carrying two bulging takeout bags.
Jasper Linden followed close behind.
"Have a seat." Standing by the window with his crutches, Felix Preston saw them arrive and gestured with a raised hand toward the sofa.
Sonia Quincy, sitting in a corner of the sofa, saw that both Lynn Preston and Jasper Linden were carrying a lot of things and couldn’t help but ask, "What all did you guys buy?"
Jasper Linden said, "Can’t tell you yet. Once Evan Yates and Mrs. Preston arrive, we can all unbox the ’blind boxes’ together."
"...We’re turning a meal into a blind box unboxing?" Sonia Quincy asked, surprised.
Lynn Preston replied, "Yep. The only thing on the agenda for this party is eating. There’s not much else going on, so wouldn’t it be boring if we didn’t do something to make it interesting?"
As she spoke, Lynn Preston turned and made a beeline for Sonia Quincy, just as she always did. Sonia patted the spot beside her, expecting her to sit down.
But just as she reached Sonia Quincy and was about to sit down beside her, she suddenly seemed to remember something, and her motion came to a halt.
’Ethan Lockwood...’
As the name surfaced in her mind, she couldn’t help but recall the scene of Sonia Quincy meeting with Ethan Lockwood the other day.
"...Lynn?" Seeing her just standing there in a daze, Sonia Quincy reached out and poked her on the thigh. "What are you standing there for? Sit down."
At Sonia’s words, Lynn Preston inexplicably turned her head to look at her. Not only was her expression strange, but she also remained silent and motionless.
Her stare made Sonia Quincy’s skin crawl, and her brows knitted together instantly.
"Lynn, why are you staring at me like that?" She was starting to get nervous, and a little panicked.
Lynn Preston shook her head, the corners of her lips turning up in a very odd smile. "N-nothing..."
"If it’s nothing, then sit." Felix Preston lifted a crutch and gave Lynn Preston a pointed poke on the shoulder.
Feeling the threat from her dear older brother, Lynn Preston immediately sat down.
"..." Sonia Quincy eyed her warily, then instinctively shuffled a little further into the corner of the sofa.
But Lynn Preston followed her like a persistent shadow.
"...What do you want?" Unable to stand Lynn’s strange behavior, Sonia Quincy decided to ask her point-blank.
"I don’t want anything." She stared intently into Sonia Quincy’s eyes as she spoke, then immediately contradicted herself. "No, actually, I do want something. But not right now."
"..."
This was getting creepier by the second. Sonia Quincy shot up and fled from the corner.
"Felix Preston!" She fled to his side, letting him pull her into his arms. Then she tattled on his sister, "Your sister has lost her mind!"
Felix Preston affectionately squeezed her cheek and said with a laugh, "I’ll sort her out in a minute."
Sonia Quincy leaned against his chest, feigning aggrievance, and let out a soft "Mmm-hmm."
"Ahem..."
Watching the couple flirt as if no one else was there, Jasper Linden let out an uncomfortable cough.
Felix Preston looked over at him gently. When he met Jasper’s teasing gaze, he didn’t look the least bit embarrassed. Instead, looking quite proud, he raised a hand to gently cup the back of Sonia Quincy’s head, pulling her even closer.
"...Unbelievable." Lynn Preston was sour with envy. She turned to Jasper Linden, looking for some solidarity.
"Yep." Jasper Linden couldn’t have agreed more.
Half an hour later, Evan Yates and Mrs. Preston finally arrived.
With everyone for the dinner party now present, the group gathered around a table to unbox the evening’s "blind box" meal.
"Oh my gosh! Jasper Linden, you’re so thoughtful! You actually bought all these duck snacks!" Lynn Preston marveled at his consideration, holding up a box of duck necks and giving him a look of pure admiration.
Jasper Linden smiled faintly. "Well, since this is a party for chatting and hanging out, you’ve got to have snacks like these."
Lynn Preston said, "I seriously want to give you an award for this!"
Evan Yates chimed in, "I’d give him one too."
"Why?" Felix Preston and Sonia Quincy asked at the same time.
Evan Yates leaned in and whispered, "Because he’s planning to invest a million in our studio!"
