Chapter 336: Chapter 336: Are You Pretending to Throw a Drunken Fit?
Qin Jiao placed the items in the east room. After all, the heated brick bed in there was larger and more comfortable, and she wasn’t about to stand on ceremony with Shen Yi over something like this.
Shen Yi remained silent, quietly watching as Qin Jiao finished putting the things away. He then walked over to her and asked in a low voice, "Jiao Jiao, can I hug you?"
They were getting married tomorrow, and Shen Yi was terrified that if he did anything to upset Qin Jiao, she would call the whole thing off in an instant.
’Even if it’s fake, I’m still so happy.’
Now, slightly tipsy, he was suddenly afraid this was all a dream. He was terrified that if he opened his eyes, they would be back in that car, on their way to get a divorce, about to be hit by a large truck.
Afraid the dream would end, he felt a desperate need to hold Jiao Jiao, to feel the warmth of her body and prove to himself this wasn’t a daydream.
Qin Jiao looked at Shen Yi’s pitiful, expectant expression and suddenly thought, ’If he had just grabbed me, I would have slapped him right across the face.’
But he hadn’t used force. It was as if he was certain she responded to a soft touch, not a hard hand.
And in truth, she found it very difficult to refuse a Shen Yi like this.
’It’s just one hug, right?’
Qin Jiao set down the item in her hands, opened her arms, and hugged Shen Yi. He froze for a few seconds, likely not expecting her to take the initiative, but he quickly came to his senses and wrapped his arms around her in return.
Shen Yi leaned in close to her neck, inhaling the scent of her hair. "Jiao Jiao, I will be good to you in this lifetime. I swear it."
Qin Jiao said nothing.
The embrace was warm and innocent. Sure enough, Shen Yi didn’t try anything more.
With her eyes half-lidded, Qin Jiao didn’t resist. She let him hold her quietly for over ten minutes before gently pushing him. "Alright, that’s long enough."
"It’s not enough."
"Are you pretending to be drunk?" Qin Jiao arched an eyebrow.
But Shen Yi just smiled slowly. He was already a handsome man, but now that the violent, sinister aura was gone, his eyes shone as brightly as stars.
He said in a low voice, "To be honest, I wish I could really play drunk. Then I could do bad things to Jiao Jiao. But unfortunately, my tolerance for alcohol is too good."
Qin Jiao was speechless. ’Did he overhear the whispers from our table earlier?’
The two had been in the room for a very long time. Su Yun peered in through the window, frowning slightly.
Just then, Qin Zhonghui came back from seeing guests off. He saw his wife pacing back and forth like an ant on a hot pan and asked curiously, "Xiao Yun, what’s the matter?"
"Xiao Jiao went to that room to drop something off and still hasn’t returned. It seems Xiao Yi is in there too."
Hearing this, Qin Zhonghui started pacing around the room just like Su Yun. He frowned. "Since it’s a fake marriage, the two of them don’t have to share a room, do they?"
"They’re not sharing a room. That house has heated brick beds in both the east and west rooms, so they’ll be sleeping separately. Du Liya and the others said it’s just in case Shen Zhengfeng’s family finds out something is amiss."
Su Yun thought for a moment and added, "But then again, it’s just like it was back in Ping’an Town. Even then, Xiao Jiao and Xiao Yi were just living in adjacent rooms."
Qin Zhonghui, who was deeply reluctant to see his daughter get married, said sullenly, "How is that the same thing at all!"
Worried as they were, they didn’t go and disturb their daughter. They respected her choices.
If their daughter was happy with it, then they would have to be happy with it, too.
But if their daughter wasn’t happy, and that Shen Yi dared to bully Xiao Jiao, Qin Zhonghui would grab a shovel, Su Yun would grab a meat cleaver, and they’d go teach that little bastard a lesson together!
