Chapter 335: Chapter 335: Right, the Lightbulb Doesn’t Need to Be Too Bright

Of course, she wasn’t afraid.

’If Shen Yi tried anything, I’d beat him up. And if I couldn’t win, I’d just duck into my space.’

Completely unconcerned, Qin Jiao kept eating. Qin Xiaolan, however, was thinking, ’The wedding hasn’t officially happened yet, so I bet my cousin will sleep with her family again tonight.’

A girl of fifteen or sixteen would naturally be curious about such things.

But there was no way Qin Jiao would discuss it with her. She glanced to one side, where the young Xiao Shi and Xiao Cheng were sitting, and to the other, where Mr. Du was. Instead, she placed a chicken wing in her cousin Xiao Lan’s bowl. "Alright, that’s enough. Hurry up and eat. Once things settle down, I’ll take you to see my university." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

North City University!

Qin Xiaolan’s eyes lit up, and she nodded vigorously.

They ate dinner very late, and everyone was stuffed. After she finished and helped clean up, Qin Jiao heard from Du Liya that once the wedding was done, Du Liya and Beidou would have to go abroad for another ceremony.

After all, most of Beidou’s family was still abroad.

Du Liya said, "But there’s no rush. We’ll go abroad after we take back the clothing factory and get everything settled."

But Beidou countered, "What if they’ve already made a move on the factory?"

Du Liya grew anxious. "Oh, what are we going to do then?"

Shen Yi, however, said calmly, "Shen Zhengfeng can’t make too many changes right now. But he will plant his own people in key departments, like finance. It’s fine, though. When the time comes, our first order of business will be to pull out all the ’nails’ he’s hammered in."

For now, that was all they could do. It was also decided that Qin Zhonghui and his wife would manage the cafeteria.

After all, in this day and age, running a cafeteria was a lucrative position.

Qin Zhonghui took his older brother’s family and his sister’s family to the guesthouse. Mr. Du, exhausted from the day, had already gone to rest.

The three-room suite in the eastern wing of the courtyard home was the largest. It had been empty, but now it was cleaned and prepared as the young couple’s newlywed suite.

Shen Yi was inside, hanging curtains. He’d been drinking and felt a little dizzy, but he was so happy that he wished he could clean every single corner of the room all over again.

When Qin Jiao came over carrying a quilt, she saw Shen Yi standing on a stool, wiping a lightbulb. He was swaying back and forth, and it was a nerve-wracking sight.

She didn’t dare make a sound.

Only when Shen Yi was finally satisfied that the bulb was sparkling clean did Qin Jiao say, exasperated, "It’s just a lightbulb. Why are you polishing it so hard? You’re going to rub the glass right off!"

Shen Yi turned and saw Qin Jiao. She looked like she had just showered, her long hair hanging loose. Under the orange lamplight, her usual sharp edge was gone, replaced by a gentleness that made his heart melt.

"Jiao Jiao, are... are you sleeping here tonight?"

"No, I’m just bringing over some bedding. My mom said she wants to sleep with me tonight." Qin Jiao noticed his flushed cheeks and frowned. "Are you really drunk?"

"You’re right. The lightbulb doesn’t need to be so bright," Shen Yi said, his reply completely off-topic. He then came over to help Qin Jiao with the bedding.

The room had heated brick beds known as kangs. They had already been fired up and aired out. Since the room was large and had two of them, Qin Jiao said, "Anyway, my parents know our marriage is fake, so we can each take one kang. If Shen Zhengfeng or his people find out, we’ll just say we had a fight."

"Yeah, okay."

"Do you want the east kang or the west one?"

"Whichever you say."

Qin Jiao raised an eyebrow. ’A slightly drunk Shen Yi,’ she thought, ’is actually quite agreeable.’
