Fortunately, the couple, Su Yun and Qin Zhonghui, didn’t have to worry for long before Qin Jiao returned. When she walked in and saw her parents standing by the door with worried looks on their faces, she paused in surprise.
"Mom, Dad, what’s wrong?"
"Oh, it’s nothing, it’s nothing. Xiao Jiao, can we discuss something with you?" Su Yun tugged on her husband’s arm, signaling him not to bring up the matter of the two of them living together. She trusted that Xiao Jiao had her own ideas about it.
After all, their daughter would be turning twenty after the New Year. What if asking too many questions about that sort of thing embarrassed her?
So, Qin Zhonghui dropped the subject.
Qin Jiao picked up a nearby cup and took a sip of the Spiritual Spring Water inside. "So, what’s this all about?" she asked.
"It’s about your uncle. He went out today to meet a friend. He was looking for a place to live and also wanted to open a fruit stand, but the person he met was unreliable. They took his money and ran."
Sun Jianhua still hadn’t dared to tell Qin Na about it; he had only told Qin Zhonghui.
This was also the second time Sun Jianhua had been scammed.

Xiao Shi was exhausted from playing and didn’t wake up at all. After the lights were turned off, Su Yun thought for a moment, then took her daughter’s hand. "Xiao Jiao," she said, "I know you and Xiao Yi are in a fake marriage, but you’re still living under the same roof. If, by any chance... one day you two hit it off and want to do something, you have to know how to protect yourself. I mean, if you don’t want to have a child, you need to protect yourself."
It wasn’t as if Qin Jiao was some naive little girl who knew nothing. Still, hearing her mother say these things right before her wedding felt incredibly heartwarming.
She hugged her mother’s arm and asked, "Mom, so does that mean you want to be a grandmother?"
Su Yun was alarmed. "Xiao Jiao, don’t be impulsive! You and Xiao Yi are still in a fake marriage. Even if you really do start to like him, you need to test him thoroughly. Once a woman has a child, she’s tied down by them. No matter what terrible hardships she faces, she’ll endure it and make all sorts of compromises for her child’s sake."
Qin Jiao had to admit, her mom was incredibly clear-headed. In her past life, she had never been this close to her mother. She had just gotten married in a daze, completely clueless about everything.
