Chapter 332: Chapter 332: A Marriage Swap?
Qin Jiao remembered her grandfather had said the same thing in her past life, but he had passed away just a few years later.
Hearing those words again, her nose tingled with emotion as she nodded.
’Grandpa, in this life, I hope you live to be a hundred.’
The adults gathered to talk while Su Yun and her sisters-in-law, Sun Li and Qin Na, were busy in the kitchen. Sun Li looked around the courtyard house and sighed with admiration. "Su Yun, I have to say, your in-laws are truly generous. A house this huge in North City, and they just let you live here."
Su Yun nodded. "Isn’t that the truth? Du Liya is especially generous. We wanted to move out, but she just wouldn’t let us. She said the house was big enough and that we’re all family, so why would we live somewhere else?"
Sun Li was filled with another wave of envy. She sighed and said, "I used to wonder why Xiao Jiao would get married so young, right after getting into university. Her future is obviously bright. But now I get it. When you find a good match, if you don’t lock it down quickly, what are you going to do when someone else snatches him away?"
Su Yun chuckled along but didn’t explain. After all, the circumstances of the marriage were too complicated to explain in a moment. Du Liya had suggested they simply tell people the two were deeply in love and a perfect match, so they decided to get married.
Qin Na chimed in with a smile. "Back when we were in Ping’an Town, the two of them would go to and from school together. I thought I saw a spark between them even then. But I guess they were both focused on their studies and didn’t think much of it. Now that they’ve both gotten into prestigious universities, it’s all coming out. It just shows that they’re both mature, sensible, and reliable."
In any case, Shen Yi was her son-in-law now, so Su Yun was happy whenever others praised him.
Su Yun asked Qin Na, "Xiao Na, have you and Jianhua found a place to settle down yet?"
"Jianhua knows a friend. After we attend Xiao Jiao’s wedding in a couple of days, he’s going to contact him. It’s pretty much a sure thing."
"Oh, that’s great."
Hearing that Qin Na’s family was also coming to North City, Sun Li felt a pang of envy. "Your older brother and I can’t come," she said. "It’d be a pity to give up our stable jobs. But maybe Xiao Lan will test into a university here someday. If that happens, we’ll definitely have to trouble you to help look after her."
Su Yun and Qin Na quickly said that of course they would.
Her two sisters-in-law were both easy to get along with and clearly had bright futures in North City. Sun Li, wanting to stay on their good side, lowered her voice. "By the way, have you heard? Old Qin is looking for another wife for the third brother."
Neither Su Yun nor Qin Na knew. Sun Li continued, "Feng Lan went to prison, right? So the third brother went there and divorced her. The Old Qin Family got custody of the child, which leaves the third brother a bachelor. And now, Old Qin is asking around everywhere, trying to find him a new wife."
Su Yun said, "Old Qin and his wife used to praise Feng Lan to the skies. Now that she’s in prison, they drop her just like that. Heh. I’d love to see what kind of wife they can find for the third brother now!"
"Well, I don’t know if it’s true or not," Sun Li said. "But with the way the third brother is now—no proper job, lazy, unwilling to work the fields, plus he has a kid and isn’t getting any younger—he’d probably have to find a divorcee. A ’good’ wife would be hard to come by. And then, someone gave Old Qin an idea. Guess what it was? They actually suggested a bride swap!"
