Chapter 813: Bai Wenxuan

As time slowly passed, night arrived. Bai Meiyue looked at the sky and did not see any signs of mutated bugs coming toward their safe base. It seemed like the defence mechanism was keeping them away. Looking at the situation, Bai Meiyue nodded calmly. It seemed like she had made the right decision by bartering the defence systems.

The night started to deepen, and many people in the safe base went to their mansions to rest. However, just as the safe base was about to lull itself to sleep, the sound of a fighting plane echoed throughout the entire safe base. Everyone’s sleep was immediately vanquished when they heard the sound of the fighter plane. Rushing out of their houses, they looked at the fighter plane that was flying toward their safe base.

The men, women and children all rushed out of their houses to look at the fighter plane. The strong gust of wind caused their hair to blow in all the wrong directions. They could not understand what was going on. On the other hand, the supernatural ability users were locked onto the fighter plane. They immediately took aim at the plane, prepared to bring it down in one go.

However, before they could bring the plane down, a person came running from a brightly lit mansion.

"Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot! I know the person in the plane, and I want them to land."

"Fox, what is the meaning of this?" Xiao Wu looked at the person who came running toward them and frowned hard. "What is going on here? And who is the person in the fighter plane?"

He was dressed in his panda pyjamas, ready to sleep, but now, because of this fighter plane, he had to leave the chilled room in his house and come outside in the blistering hot weather. He looked at Fox with a hint of annoyance and countless accusations in his eyes.

"Xiao Wu... I know that I have disturbed everyone’s sleep, but can you tell Bai Meiyue that I have an acquaintance who wants to meet her? I promise that this person means no harm. Let him land, alright?" Fox requested with a flattering smile on his lips.

When Xiao Wu heard Fox’s response, he could not help but frown even harder, but he still said, "Alright, I will go and report it to Sister Meiyue."

After Xiao Wu went to look for Bai Meiyue, the plane finally got permission to land.

When Bai Meiyue stepped out of the mansion, she saw the plane landing safely at the safe base. Her eyes fell on the man, who was undoing the straps of his helmet. A second later, Fox rushed toward the fighter plane as if he had been summoned there. At first, Bai Meiyue did not realise who the man was, but then she saw Fox and the pilot of the fighter plane unfolding a wheelchair and understood what the identity of the man in front of her was.

"Sister Meiyue, let me introduce you to Master Bai Wenxuan. The one whom I often mentioned in front of you."

Bai Meiyue glanced at the man. When she heard about Bai Wenxuan, she expected to see a man in a three-piece suit, but the man in front of her was – simply too cool. He was not like Bai Feng at all. He was dressed in a leather jacket with leather boots, and the tight black jeans that he was wearing would have looked just fine in a rock concert. She blinked her eyes, not knowing what to say.

While Bai Meiyue was assessing the man in front of her, Bai Wenxuan was examining her right back. He looked at the woman in front of him and did not know what to say. When he heard from Fox that he had a long-lost cousin and aunt who used to live in the countryside, he was expecting to see a dark-skinned, yellow-haired woman, but Bai Meiyue was not like that at all. She was quite pretty with long dark hair and eyes that seemed to resemble those of a doe.

She had a palm-sized face, and her lips were red like roses.

When he came to the city, he had no intention of meeting with Bai Meiyue and his supposed-to-be aunt. After all, the situation was like this already; what if these people were just trying to latch onto him and his family? But then Fox told him about the DNA test as well as about Bai Meiyue’s dual abilities. He also told him about the Lei family.

Only then did Bai Wenxuan realise that maybe Bai Meiyue did not need his protection at all. The woman was capable enough without him taking care of her; from what Fox said, even his grandfather did not need to do anything in the safe base and only needed to eat every day. This alone proved that Bai Meiyue was quite capable.

Compared to Bai Lingling, Bai Meiyue was worlds apart.

"It’s a pleasure to meet you; I am Bai Wenxuan." After Bai Wenxuan had thought things through, his attitude was much more polite than Fox expected.

"Hello." Bai Meiyue took the outstretched hand and shook it gently. "I am Bai Meiyue."

Bai Wenxuan pulled his hand back and delicately asked, "I believe that grandfather might have already told you about our relationship?" His grandfather had called him countless times, telling him to hurry up and take his aunt and cousins back to the safe base in the capital. After all, they had suffered quite a lot.

Bai Meiyue arched a brow. "He has, but my mother has not accepted it." She stated straightforwardly. She had seen too much darkness in this world and knew what kind of thought process Bai Wenxuan might have had when he found out about them. In the face of his shocked expression, she stated clearly, "My mom doesn’t seem to think that we need the protection of the Bai family; we have already suffered the worst. Now we live and eat in peace. Why would my mother be in a hurry to admit a relation that did not even pay attention to something so simple?"
