Chapter 808: Mother’s worries (II)

Xie Jinyue did not understand what Bai Meiyue was saying to her. She tilted her head to one side but before she could ask Bai Meiyue what she meant, the woman had already turned on her feet and walked away, leaving Xie Jinyue to be lost in her thoughts. However, Bai Meiyue did not pay attention to Xie Jinyue and her train of thoughts. Instead, she returned to the mansion where the Lei family was staying.

"Oh, Yueyue. You are here to see Ah Qian?" Mother Lei looked at Bai Meiyue with a smile on her lips but Bai Meiyue was not fooled by her smile.

There were worry circles under her eyes and it seemed like Mother Lei had been having a hard time sleeping these days.

"Are you okay?" Bai Meiyue asked as she walked over. She had exchanged some tonics with the barter system because of just a whim. But now she was glad that she had done it. It seemed like Mother Lei was really in need of these tonics.

Mother Lei nodded with a tired expression. "I am fine. These days have been tough on our family but it could have been worse. At least we are still together." Mother Lei knew that she was being silly. In such circumstances, it was good enough that their family members were still alive and nothing seemed to have happened to anyone. But when she thought about how her son had been unconscious for so long, she could not help but worry. Why was it that their family could not leave in peace?

How long had it been since Lei Qian fell into a coma? And yet he was showing no signs of waking up. If it went on, she was worried that —

Mother Lei shook her head and pushed the negative thoughts away. She turned to look at Bai Meiyue and said to her, "It seems like you are here to see Ah Qian, right?" She thought about the commotion she had heard in the morning and turned to look at Bai Meiyue worriedly. "Did something happen? Ah Yan has gone on a mission and I do not know what is going on outside these days." Lei Yan was worried that she would be worried, so she asked Father Lei and Mother Lei to stay at the mansion and not step out without a reason.

And the reason was the mansion was on fire and unless the mansion was not falling apart, Lei Yan told her parents to stay put and leave everything to Bai Meiyue and the rest of her team.

Because of this, Mother Lei had been staying in the mansion without going outside.

Even now, when she heard the sounds coming from outside, she did not go outside as she had not awakened any powers and would only prove to be a burden for Bai Meiyue.

"Everything is fine. We were just taking care of the trash," replied Bai Meiyue as she handed the tonics that she had brought with her to Mother Lei. She said to her, "I hope the disturbances did not trouble you."

"Oh its okay," said Mother Lei as she waved her hands. "I was just worried that something was going on. With Ah Yan not at the safe base, there is nothing that we can do to help you. If only Ah Qian was—" She trailed off looking even more worried than usual.

Seeing this, Bai Meiyue took Mother Lei’s hands into hers and said to her, "There is no need to worry, Aunt. Master Lei is just going through another evolution, he will be fine in a few days."

"I know but I just can’t help but be worried. That boy has always been so reckless— if only he listened to you when he went to that rotten place then maybe he would not be in this condition. I simply do not understand what is wrong with that brat. Why won’t he wake up?"

Bai Meiyue did not know what to say. As a mother, she naturally understood why Mother Lei was so worried about Lei Qian. after all, even if she knew that her son was fine as long he was not awake, it was no surprising that mother Lei was worried.

"I am sorry," Mother Lei wiped her tears. She then sniffed and said to Bai Meiyue, "Go and see him. The doctors came to see him early in the morning, they told us that he is doing better."

Nodding Bai Meiyue turned to walk inside the mansion, it was not that she did not want to comfort Mother Lei but she knew that at times like these, even if she were to comfort the woman, nothing would soothe her worried heart. In her past life, Bai Meiyue was the same. When her son went missing, she was just as worried as Mother Lei or maybe even more. Back then many people came to comfort her, but she could not calm down. After all, in the absence of her son, how could she calm down?

Mother Lei’s condition was just the same. With Lei Qian still unconscious, she was going to stay worried unless Lei Qian woke up.

Bai Meiyue went straight to the room where Lei Qian was resting. When she pushed open the door, she was surprised to find Lei Qian covered in soot from head to toe. He looked like a piece of human size charcoal. Bai Meiyue walked over and went to sit on the bed and took his hand into hers. As soon as she touched his skin, the burning sensation made her drop his hand right away.

Frowning hard, Bai Meiyue looked at her skin that was slightly red. If not for the fact that she had awakened ice powers then her hand would have been charred.
