Chapter 340: Chapter 340: Frankness
He seemed to have no recollection of anything after eating that thing.
He didn’t even know how he had passed out.
During that period, he had no control over himself whatsoever.
He couldn’t have willingly told her this secret. So the only possibility was... what had happened during that time?
Thinking of this woman’s bizarre abilities, he figured she might have some other method to make him reveal his secrets while he was incapacitated.
And it seemed that after that, she had decided to spare his life.
The key to the problem had to lie there.
At this thought, he stared directly at Stella Sterling. Although he didn’t have an answer and still didn’t know what she had given him, he was already certain of a few things.
Now, all he needed was an explanation from her.
He knew it wouldn’t matter if she didn’t explain. After all, his life was in her hands; she had no reason to pay him any mind.
But judging by her current attitude, she clearly wanted to talk. That meant he wasn’t without hope of learning the truth.
Hearing this, Stella Sterling chuckled softly. She leaned her head back, finding a more comfortable position. "So you can still figure that much out. Looks like your brain isn’t broken after all!"
Andrew Shaw remained silent. Just because he couldn’t protect himself right now didn’t mean he was an idiot.
’After all, I was only seven when the apocalypse hit in my past life. How could someone who survived for eighteen years in that world be a fool?’
Even if his parents had protected him in the beginning, they could often barely fend for themselves. He had to rely on himself, too.
Stella Sterling knew this, so she wasn’t surprised.
She looked at him and said bluntly, "The thing I gave you is called an Honest Pill. It does exactly what it sounds like. After you eat it, you fall into a daze and can only tell me the truth. I ask, you answer."
Hearing this, Andrew Shaw finally understood.
’No wonder.’ Normally, there was no way he would have told her the deepest secret in his heart. So it was because she had fed him that thing.
At this thought, he shot the woman in front of him a strange look.
’For her to have something like this... it’s like using an overpowered cheat code. I have no idea where she got it.’
He asked, "At what point did you realize something was off about me?"
’Even if I could only tell the truth, she would have had to ask the right question for me to give that specific answer.’
’But under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t know I came from the future, so her questions wouldn’t have been related to that. How could she have made the connection?’
Stella Sterling didn’t hide anything. She told him the truth. "When I asked your age, you hesitated between five and twenty-five!"
Hearing that, he finally, completely understood. ’No wonder. No wonder she sensed something was wrong.’
He had to admit, only the woman before him could have pulled this off.
Anyone else, without that... thing... would never have been able to get the truth out of him.
’No matter how hard they racked their brains, they would never imagine someone could travel back from the future.’
But as luck would have it, he had to run into *this* woman, and this woman possessed such a strange item.
’I was right.’
He was just that unlucky.
All he’d wanted was to take advantage of her absence, find some food in her car, and prolong his life a little.
He never expected to run into a monster like her.
Now he had fallen into her hands, and even his biggest secret had been exposed.
The problem was, there was still one thing he was very unsure about: what questions had she asked him when he was under the pill’s effect?
’Just how much does she know?!’
This feeling was incredibly agonizing and left him deeply unsettled.
Up until now, although he knew *how* she had learned his secret...
...his situation hadn’t changed much. It was still pretty much the same as before.
He remained completely clueless about her origins, yet she seemed to know him inside and out. And he didn’t even know the extent of her knowledge.
「After half an hour of silence.」
He spoke, his voice hoarse. "So, what are you going to do with me? Now that you know where I’m from, what’s your plan?"
At his words, Stella Sterling burst out laughing, then looked at him with a smirk. "Of course, I’m going to take good care of you from now on. I’ll protect you, give you food and drink. How does that sound?"
Hearing this, Andrew Shaw’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He wondered if he was hallucinating to have heard such a thing.
’Provide me with good food and drink? Is this woman really that kind?’
Seeing his incredulous expression, Stella Sterling raised an eyebrow. "What, you don’t believe me?"
Andrew Shaw swallowed hard. "Should I believe you?"
"Why shouldn’t you? You’re a great treasure, after all. You’re so useful, isn’t it normal for me to provide you with food and drink?"
Stella Sterling said with a grin, but her tone changed in the next instant. "But since you don’t believe me, how about I grant your wish? I’ll just tie you up and torture you from time to time. How about that?"
Hearing those words, combined with the look on Stella Sterling’s face, Andrew Shaw couldn’t help but shiver.
He was certain that if he agreed, this woman would actually do it.
The thought of being tortured by her day after day sent a flash of fear through his eyes.
’This woman doesn’t seem normal. Her methods of torture are probably not simple.’
’If it’s really like she says, what chance of survival would I have?’
So he shook his head frantically. "No, no, no, I don’t want that! Just... just provide for me with good food and drink. I don’t want to be tortured."
After saying that, he looked at Stella Sterling again. "But what are your conditions?"
He didn’t believe she would be so kind for no reason. ’The nicer a person like her is to me, the more she wants to get out of me.’
Stella Sterling smiled sweetly. "It’s simple. As long as you obediently listen to me from now on and tell me everything you know about the post-apocalyptic world, I will naturally treat you well."
Stella Sterling didn’t tell him that she, too, had been reborn.
There was absolutely no need to tell him. Besides, if he didn’t know she was also reborn from the apocalypse, she could use it to test him and see if he was telling the truth.
After all, she knew what happened in the first seven years of the apocalypse. If he lied, she would know immediately.
