Chapter 339: Chapter 339: Of Course, You Told Me
He suppressed the urgent thoughts racing through his mind, wondering what he should do.
He even wondered why she had spared his life.
She clearly didn’t seem like the type to go soft. In fact, he had already been prepared to die, but she had let him live.
He didn’t understand it at all back then.
Now, he was perhaps starting to understand.
Perhaps she had discovered something was off about him—had seen through his origins—and that was why she’d spared him.
’It’s very likely she knows I’m from the future,’ he thought. ’That must be why she wants to use me, to squeeze every last bit of information out of me.’
’But what happens after she’s wrung me dry? Will she still let me live then?’
Right now, his mind was in complete chaos, a total mess.
His thoughts jumped from one thing to the next.
Stella Sterling watched him quietly for a moment without disturbing him. She simply pulled a popsicle out of thin air and started eating it, deciding to wait for him to calm down a little before they talked.
Andrew Shaw was indeed in a state of shock.
But in the next moment, he saw an object materialize in the woman’s hand out of thin air.
Already shocked, he was now utterly flabbergasted.
His mouth, already hanging open in shock, couldn’t possibly open any wider.
He began to stutter, "Y-y-y-y-you..."
He got stuck on the word "you" for a good while, not knowing what to say.
He rubbed his eyes, thinking he must have been seeing things.
But when he opened them again, the scene before him was perfectly clear, a stark reminder that he hadn’t been mistaken.
She had, indeed, conjured a popsicle out of thin air.
’That’s a popsicle, right? I remember seeing those when I was a kid.’
’What kind of power is this?!’
’Could she really be a superpower user?’
’But if superpower users exist, why haven’t I seen or heard anything about them in all my years in the future?’
’There are just too, too many strange things about this woman!’
Hearing his shocked gasp, Stella Sterling merely glanced at him.
Then she went back to eating her popsicle.
’This man is completely in my grasp,’ she thought. ’There’s no need to hide anything from him.’
After finishing her popsicle, she turned to look at him. "A little calmer now?"
"No."
Andrew Shaw’s mind was still a complete mess, but he honestly shook his head at Stella Sterling.
’Calm down?’
’How am I supposed to calm down after all this?’
’I’ve been completely exposed; she knows all my secrets.’
’And on top of that, I’ve seen her create things out of thin air.’
’Now that I’ve seen a secret like this, who knows if she’ll kill me to shut me up.’
’Dead men tell no tales. The only reason she’d be this brazen, showing off her abilities right in front of me, is if she already considers me a dead man.’
’That’s why she isn’t worried about me spilling her secrets.’
’Calm down? Calm my ass!’
’Everything that’s happened today is too surreal... even more surreal than me traveling back in time.’
He couldn’t process all this new information at once.
"Oh. Then keep trying to calm down."
Stella Sterling nodded.
Then she stopped paying him any mind and turned her head away.
Andrew Shaw watched, clear as day, as a small bottle of Coke materialized in her hand right after she spoke.
The Coke was even ice-cold; condensation beaded on the bottle the moment it appeared.
If before he’d wondered if his eyes were playing tricks on him, this time he saw it with perfect clarity. He was certain he hadn’t been mistaken.
He swallowed hard.
It was hard to say if it was from shock or from craving the Coke in Stella Sterling’s hand.
He really couldn’t figure out what this woman was planning.
She saw right through to his origins, then unabashedly displayed her extraordinary abilities right in front of him.
It seemed like she wanted him dead, yet she was being incredibly patient, just waiting nearby for him to calm down.
He had been confused before, but now he was utterly bewildered.
But perhaps from the sheer overload of shock, he was starting to feel numb. And as the numbness set in, he gradually began to calm down.
His mind cleared a little, and the terror from before began to subside.
’The worst that can happen is I die again,’ he thought. ’I’ve already gotten a second chance at life, so this has all been a bonus anyway.’
So, he composed himself, and his first words were unexpected: "Hey, can I have a sip of that Coke?"
Stella Sterling glanced at him, and another bottle of Coke appeared in her hand.
Just as Andrew Shaw thought she was going to give it to him, she pulled her hand back. "Want it?"
Andrew Shaw nodded. "Yeah."
’On a hot day like this, a bottle of ice-cold Coke would be amazing.’
’If I really can’t escape death, then it’s worth it to enjoy life a little before the end.’
"Still thinking about a drink, I see. Looks like you’ve finally calmed down."
Stella Sterling chuckled and tossed the bottle to him.
Andrew Shaw caught it. After struggling for a moment to open it, he took a huge gulp.
To be honest, chugging an ice-cold drink so aggressively on a hot day wasn’t good for his body and could even be damaging to his organs.
But it was so hot, and his entire body was screaming in craving. At that moment, Andrew Shaw couldn’t be bothered to care.
He downed the entire bottle in one go, then let out a satisfied sigh. "Ahhh, that hit the spot! Haha!"
He didn’t look anything like a five-year-old child should.
Anyway, since the woman before him had already seen through his facade, there was no longer any need to pretend.
After a moment, Andrew Shaw looked at Stella Sterling. He was much calmer now, and much more composed. He asked, "How did you know about my background?"
Stella Sterling smiled. "You told me yourself, of course."
"I told you? How is that possible?"
he cried out in astonishment, refusing to believe her answer.
He had always kept these secrets buried deep in his heart, never once mentioning them even to his parents in this life.
How could he possibly have told all this to a woman he was meeting for the first time?
He didn’t believe it, but then he remembered the night before. This woman had pinched his chin and fed him something.
After that, his mind had gone blank. He couldn’t remember anything until he woke up in her car.
’Could it be that something happened during that time that I’ve forgotten?’
He looked toward Stella Sterling. "What was that thing you fed me last night?"
