Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Seen Through

His brows were furrowed on his small face, nearly forming a single knot.

A hint of unease lingered in his eyes.

He seemed to have figured something out, but was still clinging to a sliver of hope that he was wrong.

Seeing his expression, Stella Sterling let out a low laugh.

Her voice was tinged with disdain. "Stop with the ’sister’ this and ’sister’ that. Our ages aren’t that far apart. Doesn’t calling me that make you cringe?"

Although, she was indeed older than him.

He had only been twenty-five years old when he died, eighteen years into the apocalypse.

If she had lived that long, she would indeed have been older than him.

But she had died in her twenties, and it had only been a little over three years since she came back to life.

Her own psychological age was only in her twenties, about the same as his.

His soul belonged to a man approaching thirty, yet here he was, acting like a little kid and calling her ’sister’ again and again.

’Doesn’t it give him the creeps?’

Besides, this guy was always acting cute and pathetic.

’But this body of his is so dark and scrawny. It’s not the least bit cute. Doesn’t he realize what he looks like?’

Andrew Shaw’s heart lurched at her words. It was as if bombs were going off beside his head, leaving his ears ringing.

For a moment, he couldn’t even understand what she was saying.

In reality, he understood. He just wasn’t willing to believe it.

He still tried to struggle. "Sister, I don’t understand what you’re saying."

’He’d been twenty-five when he died in his previous life. After traveling back, another three-plus years had passed. His true mental age was already twenty-seven or twenty-eight.’

’But... but how could she know?’

’His current body was only five years old.’

’What she was saying was just too bizarre.’

’Could she really know? But how is that possible?’

He still refused to believe it!

This time, however, Stella Sterling laughed right out loud. "Andrew Shaw. Died in the eighteenth year of the apocalypse. Age at death: twenty-five."

Every single word she spoke was crystal clear. Andrew Shaw heard it all, perfectly and completely.

But he would rather have not understood.

As her words came out, one by one, the last shred of hope in his heart evaporated.

Andrew Shaw. His real name.

The name was both familiar and strange to him, but it had been a long time since anyone had called him that.

He wasn’t called by this name in this life; he had another name.

No one knew he had another name—Andrew Shaw—except for him.

But she could call him by this name. What on earth was going on?

’How did she know his name from his past life!!!’

’And she even knew he died in the eighteenth year of the apocalypse.’

’How could she possibly know? It was unbelievable. He hadn’t told a single soul about traveling back.’

’Even his parents, who had their suspicions due to his abnormal behavior, had never imagined anything like this.’

’This woman before him... how did she do it!’

’Even if his strange behavior tipped her off and made her guess he was from the future, allowing him to know certain things...’

’...there was no way she could know his name, let alone his age at the time of his death.’

’That went far beyond what someone could accomplish with just a guess.’

’Who in the world was this woman?’

’Could she be like him? Someone who traveled back from the future? And someone who knew him?’

’But that didn’t make sense. Even if it was someone who knew him from his past life, he was a child now.’

’This child looked nothing like his past self, their names were different, and there was absolutely no connection. He was a completely different person.’

’Even people who knew him before couldn’t possibly know that he was Andrew Shaw.’

At this moment, Andrew Shaw’s mind was a whirlwind of confusion, bewilderment, and shock.

He was panicked that this person had discovered his secret, but he was even more shocked by how she knew everything in such detail!

’Could it be? Does this person have some special ability, like a pair of eyes that can see through anything? Is that how she can see his origins so clearly!’

’If that’s the case, then this woman is far from simple. Wouldn’t that mean he has no secrets left to hide from her?’

’That feeling was terrifying... absolutely horrifying.’

’It was even more terrifying than her just knowing his secret!’

Stella Sterling sat in the front of the vehicle, admiring the shifting expressions on his face.

This genuine reaction was much more interesting than the feigned cuteness from before.

In a short time, a thousand thoughts and possibilities flashed through Andrew Shaw’s mind.

In the end, he rejected them one by one.

Even now, he couldn’t figure out how she knew all this.

If she had only known that he might have traveled back from the future, he wouldn’t be this terrified and afraid.

But the fact that she could state his name and age from his previous life... that was what forced him to be afraid.

Many, many thoughts crossed his mind, until finally, he didn’t want to think anymore. There was only one thought left: he had to escape.

This woman was too strange. Before her, he was an open book, yet he knew absolutely nothing about her.

This realization alone was enough to fill his heart with a sense of powerlessness.

Staying by her side was too dangerous.

In this apocalyptic world, technology and information were scarce. If he managed to get away from her, she would have a very hard time finding him.

As long as he hid well, never saw this person again, and had no further interactions with her, then no matter what she knew, he wouldn’t have to be afraid anymore.

But even though this thought was extremely strong in his mind, he hadn’t acted on it.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to escape, but that every escape plan he devised seemed unfeasible.

He didn’t want to try without absolute certainty of success.

This woman was powerful. Very powerful.

If he tried to escape rashly without sufficient preparation, he wouldn’t get away at all.

He might be caught before he even left her line of sight.

It was even possible that the moment he made a move to run, she would notice and catch him.

If that happened, he would have thoroughly infuriated her.

In that case, he would likely lose his life on the spot.

So, although the urge to escape was intense, he did not make a rash move.

He didn’t even show any sign of wanting to escape in front of Stella Sterling.

Running might get him killed instantly. Not running was also dangerous, but looking at her now, it didn’t seem like she intended to kill him.

At least for now, she didn’t plan to kill him. He was still safe.
