Chapter 329: Chapter 329: Lunatic
"How delightful! Such a considerate little darling!"
Stella Sterling sat in her car, foot stomping on the gas, her expression a mix of madness and excitement.
She was genuinely thrilled, absolutely ecstatic.
For over a year, she’d been stuck at the base. The rare times she went out were quick runs to deal with bodies, and she had seldom taken action personally.
As for those who didn’t provoke her, she wasn’t some homicidal maniac, so she couldn’t just go and kill them.
But after what she’d experienced in her past life, a bloodthirsty streak had taken root in her heart, one she was constantly suppressing.
When she truly couldn’t stand it anymore, she would torment others to let off some steam.
But these people had delivered themselves right to her.
Stella Sterling never showed any courtesy to those who went out of their way to cause her trouble.
In the darkness of the night, an unusual game had begun. The original hunters had become the prey, hiding and scurrying everywhere.
As for Stella Sterling, the supposed prey, she had instantly transformed into the hunter, searching for her quarry in the night and beginning a frenzied hunt.
These people had some skills, but as far as Stella Sterling was concerned, the situation was absolutely perfect.
Even on this obstacle-strewn road, in the dead of night, Stella Sterling floored the accelerator.
The man on the roof of the car didn’t dare to keep swinging his axe anymore.
He had swung the axe countless times, but it only left faint scratches on the car without causing any real damage.
Besides, she was driving so fast that he had almost been thrown off the car several times.
He no longer dared to relax, his hands gripping the roof for dear life, terrified of being thrown off at any moment.
THUD—
Stella Sterling slammed into the woman, sending her flying. She collapsed to the ground, her condition unknown.
Stella Sterling stopped the car and leaped out, her movements incredibly fast.
The man on the roof seized the opportunity to jump off and flee.
But he was no match for Stella Sterling’s speed. She snatched him by his clothes and hurled him through the air.
He landed right where the woman had been sent flying!
There was another sickening thud.
The man felt like his whole body was about to fall apart.
Having been thrown so far, the flesh on his back was numb. The moment he opened his mouth, he coughed up a spray of blood.
Beside him was the woman, in a similar state.
Both were in the same predicament now, barely clinging to life and unable to get far.
Just then, in the darkness, the sound of footsteps approached them.
Their bodies shuddered. They knew the madwoman was coming.
They wanted to run, but their limbs refused to obey. Unable to move properly, they could only drag themselves across the ground.
Blood trickled continuously from the corners of their mouths.
But at that pace, even with all their might, they couldn’t cover much distance.
The footsteps drew nearer. Panic now filled the eyes of the once-ferocious pair.
They looked at each other, hoping to see if the other had a plan.
But they only saw despair and a flicker of panic in each other’s eyes.
That single glance, a product of years of camaraderie, was enough to tell them that the other had no way out either.
The thought that the woman had taken out two of their four-person team so quickly, leaving them half-dead, filled them with fear and resentment.
’Who could have guessed this woman was such a monster? Not only was she impossible to fool, but she was utterly vicious in her attacks.’
In this apocalypse, they’d had their own share of bloodthirsty moments, trapping and killing many people. Their hands were stained with blood.
They’d run into tough nuts to crack before, but anyone who faced all four of them ultimately had to accept their fate.
Their victims either handed over all their food, or they left their lives behind—and the food would be taken anyway.
In all this time, they had never been in this much danger.
Their group of four had been decimated, and judging by her methods, this woman was far more ruthless than they could ever be.
This time, they hadn’t just bit off more than they could chew; they might have run into a madwoman.
Seeing that frenzied, ecstatic look on her face, she didn’t seem like a sane person at all.
Fear finally set in. If they’d known she was a complete lunatic, they never would have dared to provoke her.
Lunatics like her were the most terrifying of all.
’It’s true what they say. The longer you survive in the apocalypse, the more formidable you become.’
’And for this madwoman to have survived this long, she must have some serious skills to back it up.’
’No wonder she dared to drive on the road alone in a world like this.’
’And when they flagged her down, she actually had the nerve to stop.’
’It was because she had the power to back it up. She probably saw through their intentions from the start.’
’She was just toying with them, or worse, she was waiting for them to walk right into her trap.’
’She had pretended to be the prey all along.’ A wave of bitter resentment washed over them at the thought.
When Stella Sterling approached, she saw both fear and fury in their eyes as they looked at her.
Their expressions baffled Stella Sterling.
’What are they so angry about?’
’They were the ones who blocked my way, weren’t they?’
’They were the ones who tried to trap me, weren’t they?’
’I was just defending myself. What reason do they have to hate me?’
’Is it because I didn’t meekly cooperate? Because I didn’t let them slaughter me like a lamb? Is that why they’re holding a grudge, thinking I shouldn’t have fought back?’
The thought made Stella Sterling want to laugh!
’Truly, the human mind is a bizarre thing. You can never figure out what’s going on in the heads of crazy people.’
She cackled, her laughter echoing in the night like a soul-reaping demon’s. "Run! Why aren’t you two running anymore? We’ve only been playing for a bit, and you’re already giving up? That’s no fun at all, is it?"
’Play?’
The two of them dragged their broken bodies, their eyes wide with utter disbelief!!!
’Did we hear that right?’
’She’s calling this life-and-death struggle a... game?’
’Could it be that in her eyes, everything that just happened was just her playing around?’
’No wonder she was so excited.’
’What does she think human life is?’
The pair stared at Stella Sterling, speechless. At that moment, they were utterly convinced they were dealing with a lunatic.
They didn’t dare to answer her.
’You can’t use normal logic to understand someone who’s unhinged.’
’If they said the wrong thing and she flew into a rage, they’d only die faster.’
’Right now, silence was their best option.’
Seeing that they remained silent, Stella Sterling didn’t get angry. She was perfectly calm.
