Chapter 99: Auntie Sarah’s Frustrations
Paisley, the sales manager, was waiting alongside Winstone, with a beaming smile across her face.
It was the first time that a suburban citizen bought a luxurious car—not just one, but two quantities.
The luxurious cars were supposedly just a decoration to promote their car dealership establishment, so they were definitely the best luxurious cars they could provide.
If Max visited to another city, he could choose better option, but what he had chosen were already the best among the best cars in the entire country.
Although, she was a bit disappointed that she wouldn’t receive a commission, she already planned to report what had occurred to the owner of the car dealership business.
She believed she would receive a bonus, alongside Winston.
When they saw Max, who fell into a daze watching the cars he bought, they smiled.
Through Winstone, she came to learn that Max was an ordinary youth who seemed to have win a lottery.
They simply hoped he wouldn’t lose everything as fast he had them in his hands.
Max finally snapped awake and came towards them.
Paisley personally handed him the key to the Vanguard Horizon and said, "Congratulations, Maximus Grant. Thank you for buying from us.
As you’ve requested, we will keep the key of the Veloce Automotive. We will wait for you to claim it. We are open anytime for you. Just give us the call."
Max nodded and accepted the key.
Now that it was in his grasp, he scrutinized it.
It was shaped like a miniature, abstract model of the Vanguard’s cab-forward silhouette, with a thin stripe of polished titanium running down the center.
The flat underside housed a seamless, scratch-resistant OLED display. When the key finally recognized his fingerprint, the screen woke up to show the car’s battery state and tire pressures.
Paisley smiled, "The key only recognized your fingerprint. Hence, it will only activate whenever you grasp on it.
It will show you your car’s condition."
Max listened as he approached the Vanguard Horizon.
The moment Max stepped within a few meters, the titanium stripe on the key pulsed with a faint, ice-blue light. On the underside display, a small animation showed a connection signal syncing with the car. The Vanguard immediately sensed the key’s proximity.
The thin, jagged laser-matrix LED headlights flash in a sharp, sequential ripple, casting a brilliant beam across the garage, elating Max.
The massive, wraparound jet-fighter glass canopy smoothly unlatches and slides back or tilts up, welcoming Max into the cockpit without even needing to touch the handle.
Inside the cab-forward interior, subtle ambient LED lighting glows through the glass, mirroring the ice-blue accent of the key.
As Max stepped closer, a soft, low-frequency hum emanated from the dual-motor electric front axle—a gentle reminder of the dormant 850 horsepower. The key in his hand vibrated once, a haptic confirmation that the car was completely unlocked, pressurized, and waiting for his command.
Despite already experiencing it earlier when he had the test drive, this moment seemed more unforgettable to Max.
He activated the engineer as he grabbed the steering wheel.
Sebastian had already opened the garage door and Max drove the car straight into it.
It was already high noon and what he planned first after buying the car was to surprise Auntie Sarah and invited him to the dinner.
...
Auntie Sarah had just returned to her room. She had yet to eat dinner as she was currently busy in her laptop, managing her business while updating her financial information.
Suddenly, she heard an annoying engine roaring outside of the apartment.
She was annoyed but then surprised when it turned silent from the place she was familiar of.
Curious, she walked towards the window and slid the window curtain.
To her surprise, a supercar parked outside of the gate.
Her eyebrows raised, but her shock intensified when she spotted Max coming out of the super car and opened the gate by himself.
As though Max sensed her gaze, he tilted his head upward and glanced at her, casting a radiant smile.
Auntie Sarah remained astounded. Unable to think clearly what she had just witnessed.
Never in her entire life would she expect to see Max bringing a super car.
The apartment didn’t have a garage for it, but a simple parking lot.
The super car would definitely be jeopardized once evening arrive.
Hell, Max couldn’t protect it whenever he’s gaming. Just what in the hell is he thinking?
Auntie Sarah felt like pulling her hair to keep her sanity.
Once Max parked the Vanguard Horizon in the parking space near his apartment unit, he came out with the key and proceeded straight to Auntie Sarah’s door.
He noticed the astonished gazes of the neighborhood and simply smiled at them.
He knocked on the door and it took a while for Auntie Sarah to answer.
Auntie Sarah abruptly opened the door and immediately shouted at Max, "What are you thinking?"
Max slightly leaned backward to avoid her saliva spitting on her face.
He smiled at her. "I just wanted to buy a car."
"Not those type of cars! I doubt it will last a day in this apartment! Get it out of here and find a garage to protect it."
Max shrugged. "Don’t worry. I have an insurance."
Auntie Sarah got infuriated.
She wanted to scold Max more but she restrained herself, afraid of hurting Max with her harsh words.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath and exhaled—trying her best to calm herself.
She didn’t notice that Max was smiling at her when she was closing her eyes.
Once she composed herself, she stared at Max in long silence and opened the door wide.
"Come inside. Let me tell you a thousand reason why you should not have bought the super car you’re dreaming of."
Auntie Sarah turned around while rubbing her glabella.
Max’s action definitely stressed her out.
