Chapter 98: Vanguard Horizon 6
Sebastian was finally awake.
He was glad that he trusted his intuition despite being skeptical at first.
Throughout my thirty-five years in the company, I have never encountered such a bizarre situation.
I’m beginning to suspect that he might illegally earned the money, but there’s no way a young man liked him know such a thing.
Admirable. How did he do it?
Despite having many questions in his head, he professionally asked Max’s the price range he could reach and showed him the car that would suit his taste.
Max stated that his price limit was a million CAD and Sebastian didn’t hesitate to offer a car that has a maximum limit price for Max.
It was a carbon-pulse limited edition, the Vanguard Horizon 6.
It was produced by a boutique manufacturer famous for bringing cutting-edge racing technology directly to public roads.
The starting price was 992,240 CAD, tax included.
Sebastian stood beside the car and faced Max, saying, "This supercar is energy efficient. It utilizes a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) setup. It pairs a high-revving twin-turbo V6 engine with a dual-motor electric front axle. It can drive completely silently on pure electricity for a 50-kilometer suburban commute, but when you floor the gas pedal, the electric motors and gas engine combine to unleash a terrifying 850 horsepower."
Max was elated there was an engine roar.
I can only unleash it if I want to! That’s definitely better in startling others!
Just thinking of surprising others made Max amused.
Sebastian noticed his reaction after sharing information with him and said with a smile, "You can try if you want."
Max nodded and entered after Sebastian opened the door for him.
Max didn’t hesitate to floor the gas pedal, and the supercar came into life.
Max’s hair stood on ends.
He was thrilled that he finally pressed the supercar’s pedal... a car that would soon be his.
Max continued to test and scrutinized the super car while Sebastian’s voice echoed outside.
Sebastian said, "This supercar’s body features a specialized multi-coat metallic paint that mirrors its surroundings. At dusk, the car will look like a molten silver reflecting the orange streetlights, making it impossible to ignore.
It also features a cab-forward design, meaning you can sit very far forward, right behind a massive, wraparound jet-fighter glass canopy. There’s also a deep, sculpted air channels carved into the doors that feed air directly into the mid-mounted engine.
The front headlights are thin, jagged lightning bolts made of laser-matrix LEDs that can cast a beam half a kilometer. Don’t worry, it’s legal for such feature to every part of the city and it’s not blinding.
The rear features an open mesh grille where the glowing orange exhaust pipes exit directly out of the top of the engine deck.
The wheels are ultra-lightweight forged carbon fiber with integrated aerodynamic fans that suck heat away from the massive yellow brake calipers.
In other words, you don’t need to hold back, just avoid getting into an accident."
He chuckled and Max smiled in response.
After practicing the Neuromuscular Combat System, his reaction time was not different to a F1 driver.
Max had a test driver with the supercar first outside of the building for ten minutes. Once he had gotten the hang of it, he professionally steered the wheel and almost broke the laws in the road, giving Sebastian a scare.
At the same time, Max was contemplating while driving and instantly realized he didn’t mind spending more than a million dollars for cars.
He could earn it in a week.
Finally, he managed to convince himself and once they returned to the car dealership’s garage, he smiled at Sebastian.
"I’ll get this one."
Sebastian was elated.
He nodded and soon realized something.
He hesitated for a while until Max noticed his behavior.
He asked, "What’s wrong?"
Sebastian stared at him with eyes filled with guilt.
He finally said, "You can still negotiate for the final price."
Max shook his head. "There’s no need. Let’s buy the two. I want to use the Vanguard Horizon already. As for the Veloce, I’ll return to get it back later afternoon.
What time do you usually close?"
Sebastian shook his head. "We are available anytime for you, Sir."
Max nodded indifferently and stepped out of the car.
Sebastian immediately left and arrived in front of him.
He politely said, "Let’s proceed to the Finance and Insurance Manager, Sir."
Max nodded and followed him to the office of the Finance and Insurance Manager.
The Finance and Insurance Manager was a forty-years old man who introduced his name as Winston.
Winston checked Max’s credit and was surprised.
However, as sensible as he was, and recognizing that Max could legally pay them the money to buy the car, he proceeded to run the finance application and finalized the certified cheque mode of payment.
He had Max signed the Bill of Sale, financing agreements, and the Odometer Disclosure Statement.
Afterwards, he said, "To officially legally own the car, it’s best to have a car insurance and licensing fees.
For a hyper-exclusive garage consisting of a $992,240 CAD Vanguard Horizon 6 and an $84,185 CAD Veloce Automotive limited edition, the total combined insurance will range from $22,000 to $38,000 CAD per year, while total annual registration and licensing fees will cost roughly $200 to $400 CAD.
For the licensing fees, you must pay them immediately. As for the combined insurance fees, you can pay monthly or annually.
Which—"
"Let’s pay annually."
Winston nodded.
He called the insurance company and the provincial government to finalize the insurance and license registration.
Max also called the bank’s customer’s service and had them sent a Private Banker to finalize the purchase.
It took exactly two hours, leaving Sebastian to entertain Max with the foods that the car dealership could provide.
Winston finally returned and politely asked Max to follow them to the garage.
Max saw the two cars to finally have a registered plate.
He beamed a smile.
He and his brother finally have a car—not just a modest one, but a luxurious car.
He felt immense pride just by looking at the two cars...
