Chapter 95: A Multi-Millionaire

Max was already accustomed to the hateful remarks directed at him.

His character was currently riding on his horse—his logout mark.

It might take three days to reach Dunmarrow City at their pace. Hopefully, they would face no danger or else he’d return with an empty horse and an unknown place.

It was what usually the players would experience, especially those who’d go hiatus in playing. Their logout mark would remain, but the place would definitely change.

Now that his character was traveling and Max was intrigued about the auction, he finally decided to remain idle, while gathering information from the community.

Whenever he read a post on their hate towards him, Max was only amused.

At the same time, he was reading the statement post from Aethernova and perceived their sincerity, causing him to smile.

Not that he was touched, but from the realization that Aethernova was solely protecting their image and him as they already planned to make him the face of Apocalypse Online.

If the hate continued until Aethernova officially promoted Max as their contracted player, the face of their franchise, Aethernova’s reputation would definitely be tarnished, as well.

Bashers were normal but if they spread like a contagious virus, Aethernova had to step up and prevent from worsening the situation.

Max smiled and didn’t mind. He didn’t even reply to Aethernova’s request to post a statement, until they had to release a public statement for themselves.

Max amused himself for the next half an hour until a notification popped up in his screen that the auction was commencing.

He was leisurely laying on the bed, while Enzo, his brother, was studying.

Enzo was deeply immersed in his study but was randomly distracted by his brother.

His brother appeared to be relaxing, seemingly watching his phone out of amusement.

He furrowed his eyebrows and recalled what Auntie Sarah told him.

This guy... how did he become a millionaire?

He was astounded. It was just yesterday that Auntie Sarah had revealed to him how Max shared his current income and was asking for a lesson about financial literacy.

Despite hearing from his elder brother having a million dollars on his bank account, he still found it difficult to believe him.

The main reason he took studying seriously was primarily because he knew it was the only way to earn money quickly and legally.

The reason was simple. To finally escape from the loan shark’s shackles and build a prosperous life with his elder brother.

He swore not to neglect him once he became wealthy, acknowledging his sacrifices for him.

He believed his elder brother’s wealth would soon vanish as quick as he got them.

But the moment he saw him relaxing while watching on his phone, he knew that for some reason his brother wouldn’t fall.

He’d continue to soar.

His intuition was telling him.

That he must take his elder brother’s proposal seriously.

"You must invest your energy into the game."

What drove him to say that? He knew how important studying is than gaming.

Enzo shook his head. He was firm on his belief.

But his heart was already shaken.

He peeked at his brother and finally concluded.

If he earns more than ten million by the time I graduate, I’ll play the game.

Apocalypse Online has been a conversation in the classroom.

His classmates would often ask him if he also played the game that made him vex already.

His classmates’ performance in academics waned but the liveliness in their eyes whenever they chatted about Apocalypse Online were more vibrant.

Enzo was curious.

At the same time, he began to feel studying was a chore compared to playing games with unknown origin...

...

Max wasn’t aware how he managed to convince his brother to play the game. At the moment, his eyes were sparkling.

8 million in one auction.

Amazing.

Based on the contract, I’ll get to receive 6 million!

6 million!

Holy shit! I’m a multi-millionaire now.

Adding to eight million he earned from auctioning the set equipments, Max became a multi-millionaire.

After his proposal, Aethernova altered the royalty contract, benefitting Max more.

Just as the auction finally ended, Enzo had finished studying and laid into the bed, instantly falling asleep.

Max wanted to wake him up to share his victory with him but he restrained himself.

He smiled. Tomorrow. I’ll invite them to a fancy restaurant again.

Also, I must set a date for a vacation. I should ask Enzo when he will have a week break. There should be, right?

Max honestly didn’t know.

Staring at his brother, he smiled and chatted with Aethernova first before falling asleep.

...

8 am. April 3, 2028.

Max woke up and his younger brother had already set off to the school.

He ate, cleaned himself, and checked the current situation in the game. There would still be approximately a day in real-time left before the horses would catch the sight of Dunmarrow City.

Max didn’t mind. He was thinking of what to do since he basically felt bored enjoying the scenery anymore.

What should I buy with the amount of money I have?

Out of nowhere, his eyes widened.

My younger brother knows how to drive a car of my parents before it got sold. He’s currently commuting which took two hours or more depending on the traffic and the number of passengers he had to compete with in going to school.

I should gift him a car now.

Max planned to buy not just one car but also included himself. Auntie Sarah already had a car herself, so Max didn’t include her on the list.

This is good. I must buy a car!

His eyes sparkled.

Just thinking of his surprise to his younger brother exhilarated him.

Almost immediately, Max took out his phone and searched for a nearest car dealership near him and memorized the address.

He couldn’t wait that he didn’t bother changing his loungewear and only securing his phone with an internet to pay for the cars...
