Chapter 241: Struggle
"Get out of the way, this ticket is mine!"
City 25 had already turned into a wasteland.
At this moment, multiple angry voices echoed from the ruins. Soon, the sounds of intense combat followed suit – machine gun fire, grenade explosions, and the screams of survivors filled the air.
The battle raged on fiercely. Everyone’s target was a ticket chest sitting amidst the wreckage.
It was a third-level ticket chest.
By now, most of the third-level tickets already had owners, and only a few remained unclaimed. At least four or five survivors were locked in a fierce struggle over this particular ticket.
Undoubtedly, third-level tickets were in high demand compared to fourth-level ones. Binder was one of the contenders for the ticket.
In a sense, Binder had earned substantial experience points through his live broadcasts, raising his level significantly. However, these experience points were not gained through real combat, and this became a disadvantage.
During the struggle for the ticket, he realized that his combat abilities were far inferior to other survivors of the same level. Consequently, he had a rough start.
Then, the unexpected earthquake occurred. Fortunately, he managed to escape in time, narrowly avoiding death. But even now, he had not acquired a single ticket, leading to the current situation.
"This ticket is mine; you all can go find another one!"
Binder was determined to claim this ticket as his own.
"Heh, Binder, I used to enjoy your live streams, but when it comes to survival, I won’t back down. Want the ticket? Let your skills do the talking!"
Another survivor chuckled. Binder had become something of a celebrity, and everyone recognized him.
Some even knew that he had a close relationship with Waldo. However, no one was willing to give up easily.
"Skills? Of course, it’s all about skills!" Binder sneered. "It’s time for you all to see my true power!"
With that, Binder unleashed his full strength. Regardless, his level was a cut above everyone else present, and the difference in strength was evident. When Binder decided to fight seriously and give it his all, the outcome of this battle was no longer in doubt.
Binder went all out and single-handedly subdued the other three survivors. Quickly, he approached the ticket chest. Just as he was about to claim it for himself, another survivor jumped out from the side.
"The ticket is mine!"
This person had a sinister look and lightning-fast speed, quickly closing the distance between them. He wielded a knife, and with his exceptional combat skills, he intended to take down Binder in the blink of an eye.
Bang!
A loud, heavy sound echoed. The opponent’s head exploded, and their body was sent flying.
"Know your place!"
Binder put away his shotgun, stowing it in his backpack.
"I’ve finally got a ticket. With the tsunami coming, I won’t have to worry too much!"
Binder smiled slightly, relieved. Previously, he had considered asking Waldo for help in obtaining a ticket, but he didn’t want to trouble him.
Fortunately, he didn’t need to.
Meanwhile, Delgado was busy tallying the casualties among the guards in the midst of the massive earthquake. After the chaos caused by the zombies in West City, Delgado, serving as the Deputy Supreme Commander of the Joint Forces, had recruited a group of strong survivors into the guard unit.
There’s no doubt that the guard unit’s strength has once again increased. As the leading force, the guard unit was thriving. However, during the massive earthquake, the guard unit couldn’t avoid some casualties.
"How’s the situation?" Delgado furrowed his brow, asking his subordinate.
The subordinate, while showing Delgado the data they had just obtained, replied, "Based on our current statistics, we can confirm that two people have died, and one person is missing, most likely in a dire situation. Additionally, some people sustained injuries, but they are not severe and pose no major threat."
Delgado nodded and then remembered something else, asking, "What about the matter of the tickets? Any new discoveries?"
For this question, the subordinate started to take it seriously. Obtaining tickets was currently the most important and urgent matter.
"We, the guard, are the most powerful force in this city, and getting tickets should be much easier for us. Right now, almost everyone in our unit has a ticket. However, we’ve found a problem," the subordinate explained.
Delgado was surprised, "A problem? What kind of problem? Are there issues with the tickets themselves?"
The subordinate nodded repeatedly and answered, "We discovered that the symbols on the tickets we obtained are different. So, we suspect these are tickets for different Noah’s Arks. If the tsunami occurs and we board Noah’s Arks, we might end up on different arks. In that case, our guard will be completely scattered. My idea is that we should standardize our tickets so that we can all board the same Noah’s Ark. With the guard unit intact, we will be an undeniable force to be reckoned with!"
Hearing this explanation, Delgado paused to think. It made sense. Then, he asked curiously, "So, are you facing any difficulties with this plan?"
The subordinate immediately nodded.
The current problem is that we need to find other survivors to exchange tickets with in order to board the same Noah’s Ark, which can be quite challenging."
Delgado said, "We’ll find as many tickets as we can!"
However, at that very moment, a deep rumble echoed through the area. The earth started to shake violently once again. Another earthquake had struck, and its intensity didn’t seem to be much weaker than the previous one.
Simultaneously, survivors in various major cities could feel the terror of this earthquake. The ground shook, and cracks appeared. Buildings on the verge of collapse finally succumbed.
This earthquake was in no way weaker than the last one, and the destruction it caused was equally terrifying. It struck the survivors’ hearts like a heavy blow, leaving them breathless.
This time, the earthquake lasted only half a minute, much shorter than the previous one. However, the damage it caused was no less significant.
