Chapter 12: Fight Again
Enzo and Violet needed 600 EXP.
After reaching Level 3, killing Level 5 Goblins would no longer reward them with as much EXP as before.
From inside the outpost, Enzo stared at the cell that imprisoned a single Goblin twice the height of an average human.
Even more astonishing, it was clad in a full suit of iron armor, complete with a helmet.
Although there were plenty of gaps in the armor, every vital area was completely protected.
A Level 7 Goblin—the strongest monster on this floor.
Level 8 monsters were probably kept in the underground section.
Compared to the gap between Levels 4 and 5, the difference between Levels 5 and 6 was much greater.
Just like Awakeners, monsters that reached Level 6 gained 20 Attribute Points instead of just 10.
It wasn’t hard to imagine how powerful a Level 7 monster would be.
Enzo was confident that killing this one would level up both himself and Violet.
After all, the first kill of a stronger monster always granted bonus EXP.
If it were only a Level 6 Goblin, they probably wouldn’t earn the full 600 EXP they needed.
The problem was that Level 6 and Level 7 Goblins were each confined to their own individual cells.
There wasn’t a single cell that held multiple of them.
Violet walked straight toward the cell and opened its door.
DING!
(15,000 Dollars have been deducted from your balance. Remaining Balance: 40,000 Dollars!)
Earlier, Enzo had transferred 50,000 Dollars, bringing the card’s total balance to 55,000 Dollars.
As soon as the cell door opened, Violet stepped inside.
The rookies who hadn’t left yet were instantly shocked.
"She’s going again? Isn’t she exhausted?"
"Damn, she picked the Level 7 one."
"She doesn’t even look tired."
"How is that possible?"
"She must have leveled up several times and invested in Vitality."
"Even then, it shouldn’t be enough for her to keep fighting unless she put everything into Vitality. But that’s impossible—her speed and attack power have both increased compared to before."
The rookies were utterly confused.
Those who had already reached the prison entrance immediately turned back.
Some had even left the prison entirely, only to rush back in after being called by their friends.
Inside the cell, the armored Goblin fixed its gaze on Violet.
Until now, it had remained calm, completely indifferent to everything happening around it.
The Goblin stood up and pulled a spear from the ground.
It was the only Goblin that didn’t use a stone club.
Naturally, the cell also provided a weapon for challengers.
This time, it was an even sharper sword.
Violet calmly picked it up and stared at the Goblin without blinking, clearly contemplating how to attack.
Of course, it was actually Enzo doing the thinking.
Invisible.
He immediately activated the skill, causing Violet to vanish.
Clang!
A loud metallic collision rang out almost instantly.
Violet reappeared directly in front of the Goblin, her sword nearly piercing its eye.
However, the Goblin had actually managed to tilt its head slightly to the side.
The blade merely struck the left side of its helmet.
Enzo was stunned.
This Goblin had actually reacted despite Violet being under Invisible.
Not only that, her presence had been completely erased.
Are its senses really that sharp?
No.
After thinking it through, Enzo concluded it had been pure coincidence.
The Goblin had simply turned its head to check whether the vanished Violet was beside it.
"Damn it!"
Violet cursed because Enzo himself was furious.
She immediately swung her sword again with tremendous force, her strike overflowing with overwhelming killing intent.
As the Goblin tried to counterattack, it suddenly staggered, visibly intimidated by that murderous aura.
Clang!
The Goblin’s armor was incredibly sturdy.
Violet’s sword bounced off the metal.
Even so, the impact behind the strike was anything but weak.
Already shaken by the killing intent, the Goblin lost its balance and fell onto the ground, sitting there in obvious shock.
A cold smile appeared on Enzo’s face.
The same smile naturally appeared on Violet’s face as well, though no one else noticed it.
Although Violet was only Level 3, she was borrowing Enzo’s Attributes.
Calling her the equivalent of a Level 5 Awakener wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Shua!
Still seated, the Goblin thrust the tip of its spear toward Violet.
The attack was incredibly fast.
Fortunately, Violet still managed to vaguely predict its movement and dodged before it could connect.
She grabbed hold of the spear and tried to pull it away.
It wouldn’t budge.
Before the Goblin could yank it back, Violet swiftly slashed toward its elbow.
There was a narrow gap where the armor covering its arm connected.
Shua!
There was no chance for the Goblin to evade.
Its arm was cleanly severed.
"Arghhh..."
A hoarse scream burst from its throat.
It was the first time any Goblin had actually cried out.
The previous ones had all died instantly from Violet’s attacks.
With one arm gone, the Goblin could no longer hold onto its spear.
Enzo understood that, compared to a sword, a spear was far more effective against armored opponents.
After all, spears were designed to pierce heavy armor.
The Goblin wasn’t finished yet.
It kicked upward with its massive leg.
Violet leaped into the air to avoid the kick before landing lightly on the Goblin’s raised foot.
This time, a faint smile appeared on Violet’s lips.
In the next instant, an overwhelming killing intent burst from her eyes, freezing the Goblin in place.
Then she drove the spear down into its chest with all her strength.
Bang!
Its armor couldn’t withstand the thrust.
The spear pierced straight through the iron plating and plunged deep into the Goblin’s chest.
