Chapter 227: ITS PSYCHOLOGICAL
Yanchen didn’t immediately turn toward the computer sitting on his desk.
Instead, he closed the patient file in front of him before looking directly at Guiying, his expression becoming noticeably more serious.
"Before I order any investigations, I need to understand exactly what happened."
He picked up his pen before opening a fresh consultation sheet.
"Tell me everything from the beginning."
Guiying nodded.
"I noticed the changes yesterday afternoon."
"My pheromones became stronger than usual, and I became more sensitive to touch. I thought my heat was approaching, so I didn’t pay much attention to it."
Yanchen made a few notes before looking up again."When was your last heat?"
"About two months ago."
Guiying answered without hesitation.
"My cycle has always been irregular, but my last heat ended about two months ago."

Yanchen nodded.
"And how are your heats usually?"
Guiying smiled faintly. "They’ve always been healthy."
"My pheromones become stronger, and I’m usually a little more sensitive than normal. Other than that, nothing unusual has ever happened."
Yanchen continued writing.
"So you’ve never developed a fever during heat."
Guiying immediately shook his head.
"Never."
"And you’ve never experienced bone pain or dizziness?"
"No."
Guiying’s expression gradually became more thoughtful.
"Last night was the first time I’ve ever experienced either of them."
Yanchen nodded once before asking another question.
"Have you ever had pheromone fever or pheromone shock?"
Guiying answered without needing to think.
"No."
"I’ve never experienced either."
Yanchen looked toward Liuxian.
"Is there anything you’d like to add?"
Liuxian nodded.
"He couldn’t eat breakfast because the smell made him nauseous."
"He also became so dizzy this morning that he couldn’t finish getting dressed."
Yanchen closed the consultation sheet.
"Alright."
"I’m going to examine you first."
The examination didn’t take long.
Yanchen checked Guiying’s temperature, blood pressure and pulse before examining his pheromone glands. After asking a few more questions about the pain and confirming there were no other symptoms, he stepped back.
"I’d like to run a few tests."
He handed the request form to the nurse who had just entered the office.
"A complete blood count, inflammatory markers, endocrine profile, reproductive hormone panel, quantitative pheromone analysis and a pregnancy screening."
The nurse accepted the form.

"I’ll arrange them immediately."
Nearly forty minutes later, Guiying and Liuxian returned to Yanchen’s office after completing the investigations.
They waited quietly until another knock sounded at the door.
The nurse entered carrying a folder.
"The preliminary laboratory results are ready."
She placed the folder onto Yanchen’s desk.
"The remaining hormone studies are still processing."
Yanchen thanked her before opening the folder.
He reviewed each page carefully before eventually closing it and looking back at them.
"I have some reassuring news."
"The pregnancy screening is negative."
Guiying quietly released the breath he had been holding.
Yanchen picked up another report.
"Your pheromone concentration is significantly higher than expected."
He placed the report on the desk between them.
"These levels are much higher than I normally see before the beginning of a heat."
Liuxian frowned.
"What does that mean?"
Yanchen folded his hands together.
"It means Guiying’s body has entered the preparatory phase of heat much more aggressively than usual."
He looked directly at Guiying.
"The fever you developed during the night, the bone pain, the fatigue and the dizziness are all consistent with unusually elevated pheromone activity."
Guiying frowned slightly.
"So I’m not sick?"
Yanchen gently shook his head.
"Your blood work doesn’t suggest an infection."
"The preliminary results support a physiological response rather than an illness."
Liuxian asked quietly,
"And the pregnancy symptoms?"
Yanchen nodded.
"Some of the early hormonal changes overlap."
"That’s why pregnancy is always one of the first conditions we rule out."
He closed the folder before resting his hand on top of it.
"I’d like to wait for the remaining hormone studies before giving you the final diagnosis and management plan."
Just then, the telephone on his desk rang.

Yanchen glanced at the display before answering the call.
"This is Dr. Gu."
He listened silently for several moments.
The expression on his face gradually changed.
His eyes slowly lifted toward Guiying.
"...Please send the full report to my office immediately."
Yanchen slowly lowered the receiver before placing it back onto its cradle.
He remained silent for several moments, his eyes moving across the report that had just appeared on his computer screen. Instead of speaking immediately, he compared the newly uploaded values with the preliminary laboratory reports already spread across his desk, carefully checking each figure twice before finally closing the file.
Liuxian quietly watched him.
The longer Yanchen remained silent, the heavier the atmosphere inside the consultation room became. Guiying unconsciously straightened in his chair, waiting for the doctor to finally look up.
After another minute, Yanchen gently removed his glasses before setting them on top of the medical file.
"The remaining results are back."
His voice remained calm.
"They also explain why your symptoms appeared so suddenly."
Liuxian leaned forward slightly.
"What did you find?"
Yanchen picked up the complete laboratory report before sliding it across the desk.
"The reassuring news hasn’t changed."
He looked directly at Guiying.
"Your pregnancy screening is negative, your blood count is normal, and your inflammatory markers don’t suggest a bacterial or viral infection."
Guiying quietly released the breath he had been holding.
"So I’m really not sick?"
Yanchen gently shook his head.
"No."
"From everything we’ve found today, there isn’t any evidence suggesting an infectious illness."
He turned another page before continuing.
"The hormone studies also don’t suggest an endocrine disease. Your hormone levels are changing exactly as I would expect for someone approaching heat."
Liuxian frowned slightly.
"Then what caused everything?"
Yanchen tapped one section of the report with his pen.
"This."
Both of them instinctively lowered their eyes.

Several values had been highlighted by the laboratory, making them stand out immediately from the rest of the report.
"Your pheromone concentration is significantly elevated."
Yanchen spoke slowly, giving both of them enough time to follow his explanation.
"Normally, pheromone production increases gradually as an Omega approaches heat. Your results show a much steeper increase than I would usually expect, which means your body is producing pheromones at an unusually high rate before the heat has fully begun."
Guiying looked back toward him.
"So that’s what caused all of this?"
Yanchen nodded.
"It explains your symptoms very well."
He rested both hands on the desk before continuing.
"The fever, the bone pain, the fatigue, the nausea and the dizziness aren’t separate conditions."
"They’re all part of the same physiological response."
"Your body is working much harder than usual because it’s trying to adapt to the sudden increase in pheromone production."
