Chapter 307: The Freedom of those in Chains

Silence settled over the courtyard as the last of the nobles died an inglorious death under the magic of Violet, Luna and Steelclaw.

That silence was broken when one of the young dragons, the one that was about to be attacked nuzzled up against Violet’s side and let out a small keening whine.

Violet turned her large head, craning her neck so as to bring her head in line with the young sky blue dragon. He nuzzled against her foreleg for a moment before pulling back and looking into Violet’s eyes.

His own sparkled with vibrant emotions, joy, awe, excitement and a hint of saddness over his dead kin. Yet he remained focused on the large and powerful dragon that had arrived out of knowhere and rescued him and his kin from their captors.

Then the other dragons crowded in around Violet, the made incoherent yips and cry’s of excitment as they jumped around and bumped into her legs. They were unable to even reach her belly with the massive size difference between them.

Even with the mental bridge connecting them all together the young dragons did not speak, but their emotions bubbled through the connection. It sang of their relief, their joy at having the collars removed and the joy of seeing their tormentors killed.

Violet slowly lowered herself to the ground, being careful to ensure that she didn’t accidentally crush anyone beneath her bulk. As soon as she had settled down the 16 remaining dragons began to climb up her back in excitment as they cried out in delight.

Off to the side Luna and Steelclaw watched the scene with amusement. A hint of saddness passing over the great wolf’s eyes as she saw the numerous dead dragons sprawled out all around them.

They did not deserve this fate, but she was glad that they had at least managed to rescue this many of the children.

Luna meanwhile shifted back into her humanoid form and approached the huddled former slaves.

Once the fighting had started they had all huddled together in fear, then their expressions calmed somewhat when they witnessed the young dragons acting so excited around the large dragon before them.

They noticed Luna transform and then approach them, one of the former slaves stepped forward. She was an older woman, the nubs of antlers jutted slightly out of her head, faint scars on top of them from where they had been cut away still visible.

When Luna was a short distance away the woman dropped into a clumsy curtesy before speaking up.

"Thank you for rescuing us my lady. I-I don’t know what to say but thank you for what you have done." Her voice trembled slightly, yet still held a hidden strength, simply overwhelmed with emotion.

Luna smiled at the woman and then at the huddled slaves behind her. "No need to thank me, and I am Luna, Violet, the silly dragon over there is my companion. We came here with the intention of freeing as many dragons as we could whilst dealing with as many of the nobles as possible. Helping you was just a bonus."

The woman’s eyes widened slightly upon hearing Luna call the massive black and purple dragon silly, yet relaxed slightly when she didn’t explode from a bolt of nothingness like the nobles had before. Then she tensed when a mental voice spoke to her and everyone else.

"Hey! I’m not silly, you are!" Violet complained, yet her point fell flat as a particularly energetic dragon promptly clambered up her neck and jumped on top of her head in delight. A moment of silence passed before Violet begrudgingly spoke again. "Okay never mind."

Luna chuckled with a wide smile in her lips. Then turned back to the older woman. "Well regardless of that, we intend to travel west from here. We need to reunite with our friends that are currently in their way to a city within the endless forest called Syan. We will be taking the young dragons with us, you are ll welcome to join us or you can go your own way. It is up to you."

The woman looked both shocked and somewhat relieved at her statement. Then with a hasty curtsy once again she returned to the other former slaves and they all huddled around and began discussing their options.

Seeing that Luna moved over towards Violet, she had to dodge out of the way of a small dog sized dragon that fell off of Violet’s side on the way, the beast bouncing along on the ground before bolting upright again and rushing over to climber up on Violet once again.

"You look like your having fun there." Stated luna with a smirk.

Violet slowly, carefully moved her head to look in Luna’s direction, careful to not cause the dragon bouncing on her head to fall off.

"I don’t know why they are jumping about on me, but they are all just so excited that I don’t want to tell them off." She muttered, somewhere between amused and exasperated at the young dragons antics.

Steelclaw spoke up then, ammusment clear in her voice. "They are your pack now, you their alpha. Kindness is a blessing but you must also show your strength and ensure that they show respect."

She spoke with a wisdom in her words, wisdom gained over failing to do so in the past, with the splinter group of wolves that had been killed at Violet and Luna’s hands.

"Yeah I suppose that is true. Alright let’s get them off me, we need to go and find those eggs before we leave here."

Then Violet let loose a sliver of her draconic aura and presence as she spoke directly to the tiny dragons.

"Enough! Get down and calm down little ones. We need to finish up here before we can leave." Her voice was calm, yet held an undeniable authority that the young dragons instantly reacted to.

They practically raced off her back, all of them gathering up into a huddle in front of her. They looked up into her violet eyes with curious excitement, their emotions still bubbling through the mental link she had established with them all.

Violet nodded in satisfaction before her body was engulfed in a flash of purple light. When the light faded she was back in her humanoid form and wearing the enchanted kimono that she had bought at the auction.

The dragons stared at her in wonder, their excitment upon seeing the massive dragon transform into a humanoid form palpable. Whilst they didn’t particularly like humans due to the circumstances of their lives so far, they held no animosity towards beastkin as they were the ones that looked after them and suffered alongside them.

That coupled with the undeniable draconic presence still permitting the area was more than enough for the young dragons to instantly accept this new form of hers.

Then Violet tilted her head and glanced over at Steelclaw with curiosity. "Hey, Steelclaw, do you have a humanoid form as well? I haven’t asked before but I would imagine that you should have one no?"

The great wolf tilted her own head at the question, then nodded as she replied. "I do have one yes. Although I very rarely use it, it feels soft and weak."

"Ohh, would you transform? I wanna see how you look!" Violet exclaimed excitedly.

The wolf huffed in amusement before nodding her head. Her body was then engulfed in a silvery light for but a moment, in the place of the once great wolf now stood a giant of a woman. She stood easily over 7 feet tall, silver hair cascaded down her back in a wild mess, two silver triangular ears poked out from the top of her head and a silvery wolf tail from her behind.

Yet Violet found her eyes drawn to the two giant orbs on her chest. They were positively huge! She had never seen breasts as big as that before now, she had thought that her own were quite large, yet when compared to the melons on steelclaws chest her own looked quite petite.

She raised her own hands unconsciously and poked the wolf girls breasts, Steelclaw yelped in surprise and instinctively swatted at Violet with an open palm.

A sharp slap echoed out around the clearing, followed by a slightly distant thud as Violet impacted against a wall a good 15meters away from where she previously stood.

She slumped to the ground in a slight daze as she looked up to see the bright red face of Steelclaw looking at her with a mix of indignation and embarrassment.

Luna who had watched the whole series of events unfold could only shake her head in amusement before she pulled out a loose and simple dress for Steelclaw to put on. The wolf stared at the bundle of fabric provided to her in confusion.

Then Luna simply let out another groan as she realised that she would be forced to convince yet another beast the importance of wearing clothing whilst in their humanoid form.

With a resigned expression on her face she proceeded to explain.
