Chapter 306: Cleaning up the Rabble
Silence descended upon the battlefield for several prolonged moments as all combatants realised that the fighting was truly over.
Violet looked around at the battlefield from her vantage in the air, quickly noting the small and isolated groups of guards that still remained standing. Still they were not looking very great and were surrounded on all sides by several beasts.
Violet did not intend to intervene in the battles, knowing that she never really liked it when someone else tried to butt in on her own fights.
In fact the only reason she was willing to aid Steelclaw in her own battle was because they had discussed it beforehand. They had agreed that during the battle if any of them were to finish their own fights before anyone else they should come along to assist each other.
Not that Violet would have necessary just allowed Steelclaw to die, just that she might have held off for a bit longer to ensure that the giant wolf truly needed their assistance before jumping in.
Regardless however the battle was more or less won and Violet decided that she could now celebrate. She took in a deep breath and let loose a deafening roar of victory as she circled above the battlefield, her draconic aura on full blast as she bolstered the remaining beasts and momentarily detracted the remaining guards.
The battle outside of the gates did not take much longer after that.
Some guards chose to try and flee, either into the compound or away and towards the distance city. They did not get far before being pounced on by one of the various beasts and brought down.
In only a handful of minutes not a single guard remained standing, the battle had truly been won by the beasts.
Noticing that Violet first ensured that no beasts ventured into the compound itself, her presence flared as she sent a mental message to the various beast lords telling them not to venture in.
After witnessing the void dragons might and being pressured by her presence not a single one of them dared to disobey her orders, they then in turn ensured that the lesser tier 3 beasts followed that same order.
With that organised Violet flew over towards where she had last seen Luna and Steelclaw.
She soon spotted Steelclaw large body with a smaller humanoid figure resting besides her with one hand extended and tendrils of ice seeking out the worst of the wolf’s wounds.
She softly landed besides the two girls and opened up a mental bridge with them.
"We have won! All of the guards are dead now, the beasts are just resting and guarding the walls. Thank you for your help Steelclaw, we could not have done this without you." As she said that Violet lowered her head in thanks and respect.
Steelclaws voice came through to them, it sounded tired but content. "It was my pleasure Wild One. That man has been a terror in these lands long enough, it was about time he was put down."
Then her voice turned softer as she gently rolled onto her feet as Luna was forced to jump back to avoid being stepped on. The wolf noticed that and had the grace to look slightly embarrassed.
"I must thank you both as well, I don’t know if I would have survived our battle if not for your aid. For that you have my thanks."
Luna smiled up at the large wolf, then a flash engulfed her body as she shifted back into her true form of a giant arctic leopard. Still she was quite tiny when compared to the two larger beasts besides her.
She swatted the wolf on her back with her own fluffy tail as she spoke. "Well you can thank us by staying still so that I can heal you! I won’t have you dying on us after we have already won!"
The wolf huffed in amused annoyance as she glanced down at the by her standards diminutive leopard pouring healing ice onto her body.
The three of them remained like that for several minutes as Luna slowly healed up the worst of the injuries that stellclaw had suffered. Yet their rest was interupted by the panicked cries of dragons from within the compounds walls.
Violets presence suddenly surged as her head whipped around in the direction that the cry came from before she leapt into the air and raced towards the sound, Luna and Steelclae rushing after her on the ground.
It did not take long for Violet to spot what was causing the commotion. When she did her anger flaired and she let loose a roar that halted all activities within the walls.
Down below was a scene that angered Violet. And it of course was due to the arrogant nobles that had remained hiding in the grand hall as the fighting took place.
They had apparently gathered their courage once the sounds of combat had died down and had ventured out to see what was happening.
They had then run into the now free slaves and young dragons, from their instead of doing the smart thing and politely asking what was going on they had instead begun to order the slaves to explain themselves.
Apparently they didn’t under stand the situation that they were currently in as one of the nobles had actually attacked one of the dragons that had tried to help one of the slaves that was being shouted at. That particular noble was one that Violet actually recognised, it was the fat manager of the farm, the brother of the now dead city lord.
The dragon in question was the one that had cried out, it was the noble holding a ball of ice above his head aimed at the young dragon that Violet had witnessed.
Violet growled in fury as she dove down towards the clearing that everyone was gathered in. She blinked the moment that she was close enough and appeared standing over the young dragon and slave her head lowered to stare directly into the fat nobles eyes.
Her presence blanketed out around her. Its sheer might causing the gathered nobles to stagger back and fall over whilst the slaves and dragons felt a warm feeling of reassurance at its touch.
Violet snapped out a mental link to everyone present in the clearing, ensuring that her every word was heard by all.
"What do you think you are doing pathetic noble? Who are you to dare harm one of my kin?" Her words were laced with venom directed at the portly man.
He stuttered for several moments as he scrambled backwards to try and distance himself from the giant dragon towering over him. Not that Violet would allow that, she took a single step forwards, pinning the disgusting man beneath her claws.
That apparently was enough for the man to regain some of his previous bluster and arrogance as he practically shouted out his next words.
"Unhand me filthy beast! You will regret harming me once my sister hears of your actions!"
Violet snorted in morbid amusement at the man’s words, a snort that was joined with Luna’s own as she soon appeared besides Violet and joined in on the conversation.
"Oh she is dead, I already killed her. And her guard is also dead, killed by the three of us."
It was then that Steelclae made her presence known, her domain lightly expanding and turning the ground a silvery tint.
Whilst the nobles seemed disinclined to believe Luna’s words at first, as soon as they felt the domain of the wolf they all paled and shook in abject fear.
"So you all have two options, return to the city peacefully. Or die."
The gathered nobles shook in fear, one of them however, spoke up, his voice quavering. "P-please let m-me go, i promise i won’t d-do anything."
Violet snorted in derision, she could already sense that whilst that man may be terrified, he still held a flicker of resentment in his heart. So she made an executive decision as she glanced over at the gathered nobles, sensing the same vicious arrogance from them all.
She let out a sigh as she glanced at Luna and Steelclaw. Both had also noticed the same thing and it seemed that they both agreed with Violet on her next course of action.
"Iv changed my mind, you all die." Then she stopped her foot and crushed the fat noble to death in a burst of gore.
The nobles stared at her in horror for a prolonged moment before that arrogant glint in their eyes finally vanished and was replaced with abject horror. They did not remain alive long enough for that look to linger however.
Bolts of void and ice were joined with steel needles shot out with devastating force at the gathered nobles. They attempted to defend, yet the strongest amongst them was only just in mid tier 3.
They stood no chance against three powerful beasts.
And so it was that the last of the potential threats was ruthlessly eliminated and peace returned to the former dragon farm.
