Chapter 308: Egg’s, Treasure and goodbyes

By the time that Violet had extracted herself from the small crater in the wall that her flying body had formed courtesy of a slap from a surprised Steelclaw, Luna had just about managed to convince the Amazonian esc woman the need to wear clothing, or at least something to cover herself.

When she understood that, Steelclaw promptly put on the dress, yet it was only on her for a couple of seconds before she ripped it off with a shake of her head. "Nope don’t like that." Then with a silvery flash she returned to her great wolf form and leaving Luna standing there with a pout on her face.

Violet chuckled at the sight, remembering well the discomfort of wearing clothes at first, it had taken some convincing for her to truly accept that wearing clothing wasn’t all too bad. Still she was not going to try and pressure the great wolf into wearing anything she didn’t want to.

Before she could reach the two women she noticed movement off to one side, quite a large figure was slowly and unsteadily raising to her feet.

Green scales shimmered in the light, their brilliance marred with numerous smalls cuts and wounds.

Violet pivoted and made her way over to the green dragon. "Hey there! Enjoyed your nap?" She asked with a smile whilst opening a new mental link towards Andrea.

The emerald dragon slowly shook her head as she regained her balance before replying in a stilted voice. "Bond broke. Head, soul hurt. Couldn’t fight back. Sorry." She lowered her head in apparent shame at the thought that she was unable to protect the young ones.

She also looked around and noticed the dragon corpses that were spread around the area, her already dour mood worsening as she counted the dead.

"Hey! Look at me!" Violet said as she released just a hint of her draconic aura. That caused Andrea to snap her head towards Violet in surprise. "No one is blaming you. You suffered just as much, if not more than the young ones here to find your freedom. Now you have it and we have young ones to look out for. If you feel bad about what happened then focus on healing up and protecting the dragons still here."

As she quite sternly told of the emerald dragon Luna appeared besides Violet, she moved over to the large dragon and slowly extended her hand to rest it against her foreleg. "Here let me get your body all healed up. I don’t know if I am able to heal a wounded soul but the cold might help."

Surprisingly her ice healing did seem to have some effect on the wounded dragon. She instantly seemed to relax as the numbing cold covered and cleansed her numerous wounds.

Violet turned to Steelclaw once again. "Hey are you alright to go and sort out the beasts outside? I think everything is sorted in here, we won’t be staying long before we are going to leave. Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?"

The great wolf hugged as she replied. "I can do that yes. But no, this area here is my home, I won’t be leaving it unless I have to. Come see me before you leave for good, it has been, nice to know you."

Like that and without waiting for Violet to reply the great wolf seemed to vanish into nothingness as she walked away.

Shaking her head Violet turned back to Andrea, she was already looking significantly better after Luna’s healing. "Hey Andrea, can you stay here and watch over the little ones and those free slaves for a bit, me and Luna need to do something, we will be back in a few minutes then we can get going."

Andrea, now already feeling significantly better after the healing nodded her large head towards Violet. Whilst the emerald dragon was by no means back in perfect condition, she was at least well enough to look after the small ones for some time.

Truthfully the damage to her soul was quite severe, she had been forcibly bound to the city Lord with a severe bond of servitude. That bond, or chain effectively suborned her very existence. She had held that chain for decades, so to have it break so suddenly had caused dramatic damage to her very being. She would heal, but unless they found a very specific type of healer it would take quite some time.

With the little ones being looked after Violet and Luna made their way over to the egg storage building. They had purposefully made sure that their fights never approached that building, not wanting to risk any chance of damage to the eggs within its walls.

As they approached they expanded their presences to their full potential. Their senses swept through the building, overloading any wards designed to obfuscate what lay inside.

With their senses so focused they quickly identified the location of the eggs. Yet they spotted more than just the initial dozen that they had seen a few days ago.

They found more, a lot more.

In total they managed to discover over 50 dragon eggs. Their shells covering the entire rainbow.

Most of them were being held in a form of stasis within a unique storage item called a Beast Bag.

It allowed for the storage of extremely low leveled beasts and slowed down time within its confines. It was a truly remarkable bit of magical technology and would work excellently to carry over all of the eggs. With delight Luna picked up the bag and carefully attached it to her side.

Then the pair left the building and went about the last thing that they needed to do before they could leave here. What was that one may ask, well they naturally needed to loot the place!

So the two companions turned into a blur, they rushed around the compound. From building to building swiping any and everything that could hold even the smallest of value. Once satisfied they had cleaned out the buildings they then went about searching the corpses.

All of the nobles that they had killed held a storage ring, each one was emptied out into either Luna’s or Violet’s ring, once the storage rings were empty it became possible to store them inside of another storage item. That was a curiosity that they discovered but were quite pleased to discover.

They left the best one for last, approaching the mutilated body of the former city lord the two companions examined her fingers, soon spotting not one but two storage rings.

Seeing this Violet smiled. "I want the one on her left hand! You can take the other one!" Then without waiting for an answer she promptly tore off the finger the ring was attached to, she removed the ring and then looked at the finger for a moment, shrugged and then tossed it into her mouth and began to crunch her way through it.

She frowned at the taste, she still ate the finger but decided then and their that human fingers were not a great snack.

Then she moved on the examine the ring and her face once more dropped in utter devastation.

Luna meanwhile was quite pleased with what was within her ring. She glanced over and noticed Violet’s forlorn expression and couldn’t help but laugh. "What’s got you so down? Are the contents of the ring not to your liking?

Violet pouted something fierce as she petulantly explained. "It’s just full of dresses and shoes. Nothing shiny or special."

Luna once again laughed as she meanwhile examined the literal piles of gold, platinum and other coinage, then their was entire bookshelves worth of books and scrolls. Their was so much that it was actually impressive how much was held within that ring.

After a moment she also realised that the internal space of that ring was actually significantly larger than her own ring. Still no where even close to Violet’s ring, but still it was a significant upgrade of her own, it even had a size adjustment enchantment just like her so ring. As such she promptly equipped that ring on her on own finger and transferred everything from her original ring to the new one with a smile.

With that out of the way the two companions once again headed over to the assembled dragons and former slaves being watched over by Andrea.

Luna stepped forward to speak to the assembled people given that Violet was still pouting at the missed treasure.

"Alright everyone, we are going to be leaving now." She gestured towards the former slaves and spoke again. "You are all welcome to join us in our journey, but know that we will be travelling fast until we reach the Endless Forest and the city of Syan. Have you all made your choice?"

The same elderly woman stepped forwards, this time her back was held straight and she fearlessly looked into Luna’s eyes as she spoke. "We all wish to travel with you, we cared for these dragons, and we would be remiss to leave them now that they have a chance for a propper life free from bonds. So if you will have us we would travel with you."

Luna smiled at the woman and then gestured for them all to follow her.

Luna and Violet led the way out of the compound. They stopped outside and soon Steelclae appeared besides them, her form seeming to melt into reality out of knowhere.

They did not exchange many words. Just simple thanks and the hope that their paths would one day cross again.

And like that Violet and Luna now led a quite sizeable group of former slaves and dragons on a mission to escape from the kingdom of Eldor. The only problem was that they were currently on the wrong side of said country.
