Chapter 301: Fight at the Farm (4)

Luna watched with some apprehension as Violet and the large red dragon tumbled through several buildings as they tore into each other with vicious abandon. She dearly wanted to rush to her companions side and aid her in that brutal battle, yet she trusted Violet, she trusted that she would be able to handle herself.

As such she instead focused her attention back towards the other conflicts happening around her.

The freed slaves and dragons were at a mild loss for what to do. Yes their slave collars had just fallen to the ground along with any other bindings that were on their person. Yet that did not change the simple fact that they still stood in the middle of their prison whilst a beast tide threatened to slaughter them all.

That didn’t even take into account the various guards that now stared at them with barely constrained disgust and hostility.

Luna did note that not all dragons and slaves found themselves free of their collar, those ones, one and all, had been truly indoctrinated into believing the twisted world view of their ’masters’. Luna wanted to dislike them, instead all that she could feel when gazing upon them was pity.

Pity at the fact that they had been given the choice to be free, yet they squandered it in favour of the familiar weight of their restrictions.

Then Luna’s gaze moved back up to the wall. Upon which stood the city lord herself, a coterie of guard huddled around her, shields raised and swords out as they looked down wearily at the now freed dragons and slaves.

The city lord however, she was focused on a single being, fury positively radiating from her figure. She was staring at her ’bonded’ dragon, the giant emerald scaled beast returned her glare with one of her own, her delight at being free marred by the knowlage that she was still bound to the detestable woman before her.

She wanted nothing more than to fight and free herself of her bond of servitude, yet knew that she would not be able to harm the woman before her. It was then that a mental bridge connected Luna to the emeralds mind.

"Are you able to fight?"

"Haltingly I can, but so long as she is alive I will be unable to do much." Replied Andrea bitterly as she sent the image of the city lord over the mental link.

Luna hummed in understanding at that, a sparkle in her eyes as she replied. "Well then, I guess I will just have to go and fix that problem for you then. For now help the young ones!"

Then with a single step forward Luna disappeared from the roof she stood atop and reappeared on the wall a short distance away from the city lord.

Upon her sudden appearance the guards around the lady instantly tensed up, weapons raised in a defensive stance. The City Lord however, she moved her glare over to Luna with contempt flashing in her eyes.

"So this was your plan? Send your pet dragon to attack us? What did you think you would be able to kill me? Harm me?" The woman snorted as she gazed disdainfully over at Luna.

For her part Luna found the small speech to be quite amusing. "My pet dragon? No, unlike you I don’t thrive off subjugating others. She is my companion, and I, I am your death."

Then without giving the other side a chance to respond Luna took another step forward, this time appearing behind the guards and right in front of the city lord.

The woman’s eyes opened wide in shock, yet less than a fraction of a second later she responded. A sword radiating yellow blue power appeared in her right hand, immediately it seung upwards to try to cut the girl standing before her.

Luna simply took another step, the air rippled in the spot she had just stood in, Jasmin’s sword harmlessly passing through the near perfect illusion left in her wake.

The city lord spun about and was once again left confused, for before her she bore witness to a total of 4 versions of Luna standing around behind her. Each of the copies held a different weapon, one a long sword, another a halbard, one wielded twin daggers and the last a short sword and shield.

The guards looked at the scene with confusion and a flicker of fear. Then the copies moved.

They struck out with their weapons, no longer willing to passively defend, instead they attacked. A sword pierced the head of one of the copies, yet that did not hinder the frozen illusion, its halbard swung down and removed the head from the guards body in a single powerful strike.

The world around Luna cooled, the ground itself becoming slick with ice causing the guards to falter in their movements.

Jasmin watched the chaos unfold with a calculating glint in her eye, carefully assessing the strength of this illusive foe. Then she called upon her magic.

Blue yellow light began to envelop the woman, her unique brand of arcane mana contained the properties of force itself made solid. This allowed herself to forge a suit of armour perfectly fitted to herself, it weighed nothing, it flowed with her movements and it contained no gaps to be exploited.

She swung her blade in a horizontal arc, a blue yellow force construct extended out of the tip to slash towards Luna and her illusory copies. The force arc reached her in moments, each illusion attempting to defend of evade in turn, Luna herself was forced with block with her twin daggers held high.

Yet her defense was not enough.

The force arc simply split apart when blocked and continued on. Blood gushed as Luna felt twin cuts dig into each of her shoulders from her failed block. Annoyingly 2 of the illusions also failed to effectively block resulting in their figured shattering and falling away into shards of useless ice.

By this point Luna had managed to kill 3 separate guards, but she was now surrounded by over 10 guards, with city lord Jasmin standing before her.

It looked like quite the conundrum that Luna had found herself in, yet she couldn’t help but smile viciously as excitement bubbled up from within. Ice spread up to her shoulder and swiftly closed the wounds there.

Then the temperature of the world dropped. A furious wind kicked up, snow and hail began to drift down around them, these small balls of hail quickly grew in size, some taking the form of weapons like daggers, others took the more familiar form of the jagged ice spikes and spears.

The snow on the other hand whipped about in a frenzy, rapidly landing on all those gathered, but instead of falling off the snow stuck to them, and rapidly as more and more snow landed the weight and cold clinging to the guards increased.

The guards did not just stand there as this was happening, their own skills flaired, balls of fire, armour of rock and bolts of lightning to name a few had all been summoned and cast, aiming at the elusive beastkin standing before them.

Yet they did not land. The fire snuffed out from the bitter chill, the rock armour froze over and shattered when its welder tried to move, the lightning bolt was redirected by the swirling snow rendering that attack useless.

A subdued moment of silence overtook the wall at that moment. Then the world exploded into violence.

Luna took a step, she and 3 other versions of her appearing within the loose formation of guards. The wrath of the Arctic took action, spears and frozen weapons rained down on the defenders in a ceaseless onslaught of frozen violence.

The guards attempted to defend. They attempted to fight back.

They failed.

It did not take too long before the last of the city lords guards fell to the ground with an ice spike piercing through the man’s head.

Luna had not escaped the short but brutal fight unscathed, her clothing was cut in a dozen places, ice already covering her multiple wounds.

She turned in place to observe the last remaining foe on this section of the wall.

She stood tall, clad in intricate blue yellow armour of arcane origin, her sword radiating power unlike anything else Luna had seen before now.

Yet despite the furious wrath of the Arctic, no snow had built up on her armour, no ice weapons or spears had punctured her defenses. Seeing that Luna allowed the mana intensive skill to come to its natural end. She glared up at the woman opposite her and felt a grin form once again as she readied herself to finish this fight.
