Chapter 300: Fight at the Farm (3)
The ground shook as the massive red dragon charged directly towards Violet, flames curled out of its mouth as its eyes shone with fury. It was apparently unaffected by Violet’s display, or in actuality the dumb brute seemed to have taken it the entirely wrong way.
Regardless Violet didn’t have time to ponder on that for more than a moment as the brute was just about to reach striking range.
Saddly for the red dragon however, Violet was no brute.
Right as the red lept towards Violet, her body simply popped out of existence, reappearing a moment later a good 40 meters away down the street. She let out a snort of contempt at the bumb dragon and retaliated against its attempted attack with a barrage of void bolts.
She didn’t think that they would truly wound the beast, but she did want to get a better understanding of exactly how sturdy this foe was.
The red instantly reoriented towards Violet’s new position, despite its apparent lack of intelligence, it was still a well trained and powerful beast that has lived its life going from one battle to the next.
As such it was able to locate Violet’s new position near instantly. It growled in frustration at having its foe slip away so easily, yet that did not slow it down. It once more charged straight towards Violet, its only reaction to seeing the barrage of void bolts was to coat its own body in a thin but potent film of flames.
The flames burned at such intensity that the majority of void bolts failed to even reach the reds scales. The sheer heat being emanated from the dragon was enough to overload the simply bolts and render them unesless.
Violet frowned slightly at that but didn’t allow herself to be ruffled, instead she simply proceeded with her usual attack plan.
Spears came next, shooting forward with indomitable might, the very air itself splitting in their wake. Yet again however, the red did not alter its charge, continuing to move directly towards Violet with unerring focus.
Unfortunately for the red dragon the void spears heading his way were considerably more deadly than the simply bolts.
The flames coating the reds body surged upon the approach of the spears, yet they were not to be denied. Flames split, spears hit scales, scales swiftly cracked under the penetrating might of the spears.
The red roared in pain and anger at this, yet even when the spears exploded whilst burried in its body the beast did not slow.
Whilst the detonations of the spears had proven to be deadly against other beasts, against a dragon, whose scales are already quite naturally resistant to magic they were near flesh wounds.
The red slammed its tail down on the ground, an explosion of flames erupted from the impact point, the force of which caused the red to surge forward with renewed speed, that coupled with a timely flap of its wings created the effect of the beast near instantly slamming into Violet’s side with bone rattling force.
Pain surged through Violet at the impact, the heat from the red causing her scales so sizzle slightly. A film of void already coated her own body, blocking the worst of the elemental damage, still the fact that even with that protection Violet was still impacted, regardless of how little just goes to show to sheer power this dragon was able to display.
Saddly for Violet however, the fire damage was the least of her issues at that moment in time. The red’s maw snapped close over Violet’s front leg, the limb being nearly entirely engulfed in between the rows of razor sharp teeth.
Violet reacted with bestial fury as the two behemoths were sent crashing through a nearby structure, the people and smaller dragons on the ground rushing to get out of the way of the two rampaging dragons as wrecked timber and masonry was set careening away from the beasts battle.
Violet tore her own claws into the underbelly of the red, tearing through flame shell, scale and flesh alike with her void infused onyx claws. Great spouts of flaming blood spurted out from both dragons as the red wrenched its head in an attempt to tear off Violet’s leg, whilst Violet responded by working to disembowel the red.
The two giants continued to wreck havoc upon the emporiums structures, the ’reinforced’ buildings standing no chance against two near 20 meter long beasts slamming into and often through them as their battle progressed.
The two eventually broke apart when they slammed into a separate section of the wall some distance away from where the battle for the gate was taking place. The two dragons leaping to their feet as they began to circle one another.
Violet was limping, unable to truly put any weight on her wounded front leg, it was in a pitiful state with the bone broken and the scales and muscles in it shredded from the force of the red opposite her. The red meanwhile seemed to not care about to damage that had been dealt to its underbelly, despite a veritable stream of blood flowing from its body with every step.
Violet focused on the fight, blocking out all possible distractions as she grinned at the beast standing opposite her. Then Violet, for the first time activated her newest skill, Limit Break.
Instantly power surged through Violet’s body, it felt like lightning was surging through her veins, her muscles surged and her mind focused. Every aspect of Violet had been enhanced, time seemed to flow ever so slightly slower. Yet Violet also knew that this was not something that would last.
Already she could feel her muscles fraying, her mind overloading as it took in and processed every minute detail and her mana began to overwhelm her control. But before that happened, Violet locked gaze with the red dragon standing opposite her, she had a fight to win.
Back at the gate the city lords personal guard, Kurtis, finally had enough with simply fighting for dominance over distance with the sovereign down below. He glanced once at his lady, confirming that she was currently safe and surrounded by guards, then he launched himself forwards. The wall cracking underfoot as he practically flew into the open field.
The beasts reacted to the approaching human, a myriad of spells and skills flew towards the man, yet they had no effect on him, his domain denying the effects of those attacks significantly weaker than himself. Some did impact him, yet whilst clad in his enchanted full plate he could easily shrug off the stray attacks.
He soon landed like a meteor in the center of the beast hoard. The earth shattered, beasts were sent flying away and a booming clap echoed out.
A dust cloud obscured vision of the impact site. Steelclaw did not react past staring at the location that the human sovereign landed, her domain tightly controlled as she circled her mana in preparation for whatever may come next. A few short tips and growls sends the rest of the beasts under her control to avoid the dust cloud and head directly towards the broken gates and into the farm.
Shortly after the dust parted to display an armoured human standing in a crater of his own making, smears of blood cover the floor, all that likely remains from the unfortunate beast that he landed on.
The two sovereigns stare at one another. One a relatively tall human clad in full plate armour, the other a massive steel furred wolf that towered over the human.
Then they moved, the world shook and their battle truly began.
