Chapter 452: Chapter 344: Spending Money Like Water
Long Yi and his companions swaggered into the restaurant, and the four people at the front didn’t get far before they turned around after hearing their entrance and then left rapidly with evident distaste on their faces.
There were ten people in all including Long Yi and Dragon Knight, but there were no tables large enough for them at the restaurant, so they had to split into two tables.
It was Long Yi, Ai Lin, Isrile, Little Zi, and Lingling at one table; and Wesley, the chef, Mosquito, Bajie, and Xiaoyou at another table.
Upon seeing this, Wesley and his mates had frowns etched onto their faces.
"This isn’t fair! It’s discrimination! I too deserve to sit at the beauties’ table!" Wesley protested aloud.
"Yes, why does he get all the beauties, while we’re stuck with the dragons?" the chef also complained.
"But who should we trade with?" Mosquito weakly added.
Obviously, Ai Lin was unwilling to be part from Long Yi.
So, Little Zi? Isrile? Or Lingling?
None of them were a suitable choice, right?
At this moment, Little Zi burst out laughing and declared, "I’ve got a solution!"
The three Female Demon avatars flew out, landing in front of the other table with smiles on their faces, while the two Dragons guarded each end of their table.
"Beautiful!" Long Yi gave a thumbs up.
Wesley and the others were stunned.
Originally, the Black Dragon Empire selected girls to be made into demons after numerous screenings, thus only the extremely attractive and talented girls were chosen. Now, these girls who have broken free from their cages, exacted their own revenge. Even though they had lost their independent consciousness, they could not conceal the joy coming from their souls.
Having the company of these three girls quickly changed the mood at the table.
Even knowing these girls were the separate avatars of the Female Demon, who were born of Little Zi’s super evolution and were dressed as gorgeous girls, the three of them couldn’t help but become more serious about the way they conducted themselves.
"Hey, you three don’t have to be so formal. You guys are all technically speaking to me anyway." Little Zi reminded them.
With that, the deflated their exaggerated enthusiasm instantly.
"Big sister Zi, you don’t have to tease us like this." Wesley complained with a mournful face.
"How is this teasing? While I sit here with Brother Long, my three avatars are accompanying you. Is this not fair?" Little Zi replied matter-of-factly.
"But have you considered the toll on our innocent hearts, going from joyous to disappointed in just a few seconds?" the chef lamented.
"I think you got off light." Long Yi added.
"If you dare, we’ll challenge you all at once! Even including big sister Isrile, you won’t be able to defeat all of us. Brother Long, we’ll fight you with all our might and magic powers. I promise to beat you so bad you’ll need help just to survive the day!" The chef roared challengingly.
"I give up." Long Yi surrendered immediately.
"Ha! That’s better!" The chef puffed his chest up, then turned to Wesley and commanded, "Wesley, you will write an article about our victorious fight against Long Yi and spread it around. Go to the most famous composers and singers in our White Dragon Empire, we’re going to publicize our deeds everywhere."
"But isn’t it embarrassing to spread this far and wide?" Wesley asked, worriedly.
"What? Isn’t this glorious?" the chef asked, looking confused.
"Not glorious at all!" Wesley replied.
"Well, fine then. But remember, this is to be kept a secret." The chef reminded brightly.
Long Yi had always appreciated this about the chef, who seemed always able to lighten the mood no matter the situation.
Although the Elven Restaurant wasn’t particularly abundant in its dishes, it made up for it with the exotic food and careful preparation. Generally, only those who wanted to host important guests and demonstrate their sincerity and strength would bring them to this restaurant. Today, Long Yi and his companions were here purely to satisfy their hunger.
Both the chef and Isrile possessed bottomless stomachs. Especially Isrile, whose stomach was connected to her true form! To satisfy her, even the Emperor’s accounts were crying out in pain.
The chef had initially attempted to engage Isrile in a battle of appetites but quickly lost.
Of course, while they were fooling around, their voices actually weren’t that loud. The Elven Restaurant was a peaceful place, and even their antics weren’t upsetting to others. Other guests dining in the restaurant were rather indulgent towards Long Yi and his party. They didn’t get mad, but rather felt happy when they encountered them, and some excited folks even asked for autographs.
However, what irked Long Yi was that these patrons only asked for Ai Lin’s autograph!
What about me? What is my worth here!? You imbeciles!
At last, a few people decided they had enough.
Mello and his three companions suddenly raised a hand and called for a waiter.
"What can I do for you, sirs?" the elf waiter asked with a formalized smile.
"Can we ask those two tables to quiet down? They’re really not behaving elegantly." Mello said.
"Did they disturb you?" the elf waiter asked.
"No. I just think they are acting inappropriately." Mello clarified. It wasn’t that they were making too much noise, as they were quite far away from Mello’s table. It was more like they were an eyesore to him than any real nuisance.
Ever since Joseph was imprisoned, luck seemed to have turned its back on the house of Hagrid. First, their supplies were squeezed by the royal family, then the rivals took over their business, and even some long-term customers cut off contact. It all seemed as if it had been meticulously orchestrated.
Joseph’s bad reputation put Mello in a downward spiral as well. And the source of all this was Long Yi.
It was Long Yi who discovered Joseph’s wrongdoings and it was Long Yi’s decisive evidence that landed Joseph in jail.
Yes, it was all because of Long Yi.
Recently, a secret Anti-Long Yi Alliance has taken shape quietly between Imperial City and Academy City. Most of the members in this alliance are those who have been beaten up by Long Yi. No one knows who the founder of the alliance is, but clearly, the alliance provides a venting channel for everyone. The alliance meets secretly once a month where people gather to vent and criticize Long Yi’s actions. Some points are valid, some are not, but nobody cares about the exactitude. With some individuals intentionally influencing the crowd, the hatred for Long Yi intensifies.
Now, Mello has a strong desire to join this alliance. And the three men who are with Joseph are here to evaluate him.
Because of this, Mello, upon encountering Long Yi, could not help but express his disdain for him.
However, clearly, his request could not be satisfied.
Because in the Elven restaurant, they don’t care about whether each customer dines elegantly. The elves have never claimed that one must dine elegantly in their restaurant. They don’t care what customers do in their restaurant. They run the restaurant to make money, if the guests enjoy the food, then the supply will naturally keep flowing. Who cares about how they eat? Especially when the customer is Long Yi. Elves can choose to share some of their memories, and Long Yi being a Silver Dragon Knight is something all the elves naturally know.
While his request may not be fulfilled, Mello believes he’s made his position quite clear, believing the three men have seen his sincerity.
But apparently, the three men are not satisfied.
The man who previously stopped Mello from clashing outside began to speak:
"Mr. Mello, please allow me to be blunt, directly confronting Long Yi is utterly unwise. You will only invite great trouble for yourself. Based on our statistics, all those who have directly clashed with Long Yi, whether from the White Dragon Empire, Black Dragon Empire, or any other country in the world, have met with unfavorable outcomes. Your behavior could lead to the destruction of the Anti-Long Yi Alliance! At this time, our alliance does not have any external support and relies entirely on ourselves. If a conflict were to truly arise, with Long Yi’s methods, our alliance will likely be destroyed instantaneously, and that is unacceptable."
Mello nodded, indicating that he understood. At the same time, he was taken aback because he originally thought that this so-called Anti-Long Yi Alliance was just a type of mutual aid organization. Little did he expect that they seemed to have more ambitious plans?
"So, what should I do?" Mello asked.
"Fortunately, you are not yet a member of the Anti-Long Yi Alliance, and because of this, there are certain things that you will find it easier to do. Now, we need you to do some tasks. Then, based on your performance, we will consider your admittance into the alliance."
"What tasks?" Mello asked.
Then, the man whispered a few words, and Mello’s face immediately changed color!
"You want me to find Blood Coagulation....."
Thwack!
Mello’s mouth was covered abruptly, and his throat was clamped tight.
"Mr. Mello, if you wish to join us, you’d best keep your mouth under control. Otherwise, you’ll find out quite soon that you won’t need it anymore."
Mello could only feel that his jaw was nearly crushed by a firm grip. He reluctantly nodded, then finally, he was released.
Mello then looked at Long Yi in the distance, his eyes flickering. Eventually, he decisively nodded his head and said, "Alright! I’ll do it!"
"Wesley, that youngster over there has been eyeing me for a while now, did you notice?" Long Yi, who was eating, asked.
"If you’ve noticed it, how could I possibly have missed it?" Wesley laughed smugly. As a matter of fact, Long Yi found it strange that Wesley was laughing with excessive smugness as if he had accomplished something extraordinary.
"What are you laughing at?" Long Yi asked.
"Hehe, I can’t hold back my laughter. Let me tell you why." Wesley leaned over, whispered something into Long Yi’s ear, and immediately Long Yi’s eyes bulged.
"What the heck, really? That works?"
"Of course, it works! Can’t you see how smart your brother is?" Wesley replied.
"Smart, for sure. Only someone as smart as you could come up with such a method. Who else in this world can be smarter than you?" Long Yi replied.
Wesley was so flattered by Long Yi that he wished he could raise his head to the sky in triumph.
As Mello and his group got up to leave, Mello passed by Long Yi and snorted. However, all he got in return was a laugh from Long Yi.
Yes, at this moment, Long Yi simply found it amusing.
But very soon, he was no longer able to laugh.
It was when the bill arrived.
Looking at the astronomical figure on the bill, Long Yi felt dizzy. He had only heard of such lavish dining expenses at the get-togethers of Middle Eastern tycoons in his past life.
No! If it was based upon material equivalence, not even Middle Eastern tycoons could afford to be this extravagant!
Long Yi, trembling, pulled out his pouch of gold coins. Both Wesley and the head chef were dumbstruck. Originally, they only wanted to play a joke, but with no card, it means they’re out of money. Neither of them was able to cover such a high amount. As they watched the astronomical amount of gold coins being poured out by Long Yi, both Wesley and the head chef felt a sense of guilt. It was clear their joke had gone too far.
However, Long Yi didn’t mind too much. After all, he was never a tycoon in his previous life and he spent his prime in the army, never having experienced the thrill of extravagant spending. And in this life, from the very beginning, he was a blacksmith who never got a taste of what it felt like to live a tycoon’s life, with a space full of gold coins that he hardly ever spent.
So, for this time, to truly squander gold like dirt made him feel exhilarated!
Yes! Truly exhilarating!
Long Yi wiped a tear from his face and comforted himself by saying, "It’s all good!"
