Chapter 588: Heartroot Ginseng and Memory Lotus

Memory lotus is a regular lotus that mutated the moment mana started to flow around it and life started to form around it. Although this is a rare case, many cases of a Memory Lotus forming naturally do happen, especially if they grow in a pond, lake, or river that is abundant in Mana or creatures that release mana regularly. But the most guaranteed way to find a Memory Lotus is actually from the Fairies themselves.

Since fairies are naturally born from a Lotus, the mana flow is natural to the Memory Lotus, and even without any kind of source of mana, the lotus itself can produce it for itself, so it doesn’t need any outside help to sustain itself in the long run. This is how a natural and pure Memory Lotus.

"So we got lucky at this one material because of Mother’s past actions?" Arthur wasn’t expecting that they would get the Memory Lotus very fast.

"We should thank your quick thinking there, my twin. To think that going to the fairies would solve our issue right away. Now we only have one thing we need to find."

Pixie smiled at the twins and seemed to be aware of their difficulties. "Looks like I nailed it when I said that you two are trying to create the Soul Vessel, correct? Based on your reactions, it seems that the two of you have no idea about the remaining materials?"

Adelaide quickly answered Pixie. "We do have an idea where to get the other two items, since those two come from monsters. We only need to fetch them from their sources, and we would be set. On the other hand, this one thing is stopping us. We don’t even know where to find it."

"I see. I think humans called the ingredient Heartroot Ginseng, right? The one that looks like a dried-up human finger?" Pixie is trying to recall it.

"You know about the Heartroot Ginseng?" Adelaide’s eyes went wide, hearing this from Pixie.

"I am not so familiar with it, but I do know and have seen it before. Of course, this isn’t something I remembered correctly, as this is a very old memory of mine. But I remembered Heartroot Ginseng is a regular medicinal item. It’s not as special as its name, but according to what I remember, those regular Heartroot Ginseng do not last long enough for the Soul Vessel. One needs to replant the Heartroot Ginseng and cultivate it with human hands for its effects to be amplified. Otherwise, the power might be insufficient once it is used as material for the Soul Vessel. As for where you can find the Heartroot Ginseng, how about asking our Local Witch about it?"

"Thank you very much for the info. We will do just that. Also, we really appreciate you for giving us this Lotus seed to us. It means a lot for us," Arthur sincerely thanked Pixie after getting what they needed.

"No need to thank me too much. In fact, this is insufficient payment for what Elaina has been able to contribute and help me and my race these past few years. Now that she is in trouble, we will try our best to help out as much as we can."

After saying goodbye to Pixie, the two immediately head over to Yona’s house. Slimes are hopping from one place to another around the premises of Yona’s house, and the smell of herbs and concocted medicine is really strong.

"Should we knock?" Arthur asked.

"We don’t even know whether she is inside or not. If she doesn’t answer, then she might be near the Beehive Tree," Adelaide speculated.

Adelaide knocked on the door three times before calling for Yona. "Miss Yona, are you there?"

The slimes around looked curious at Adelaide and Arthur at first, but realizing that it was a familiar face, the slimes quickly moved on and went on to their business.

"...Based on the slimes’ reactions, it seems Miss Yona isn’t here. Let’s head over to the Beehive tree."

Arthur and Adelaide quickly rushed to the Beehive Tree, the same tree that the Bees and the Silk are living in just to find Yona. And as expected, she is indeed present there, currently conducting tests to the honey produced by the bees. It seems that even the bees are helping out as a few bees are flying while carrying a few small pieces of the honeycomb with honey inside.

Beside Yona is Silk, who is quite happy just by being there. It seems that those samples that are not approved by Yona are immediately given to Silk, which made the giant spider happy.

"Miss Yona!" Adelaide called, allowing Yona to notice them approaching.

"Hmm? Adelaide and Arthur?" Yona is surprised to see the two actively approach her during work.

"Sorry if we disturbed you while you are working with the bees," Arthur apologized first.

"No need to apologize, there’s nothing wrong with calling me. So, is there a reason for calling for me?" Yona asked.

Adelaide has trouble speaking immediately. She struggled to say anything comprehensive, so Arthur decided to take over the talks.

"Miss Yona, can you spare us your assistance on this one thing that we are working on with my sister here? It involves a medicinal herb, you see. Considering that you handled medicinal herbs for quite some time, maybe you can assist us?"

Yona’s eyebrows moved, and she smiled with interest in the topic.

"A medicinal herb, hmm? Yes. I did handle quite a few back then and even until now, though it isn’t as much as before nowadays. But still, if you needed my help for a medicinal herb, I can surely be of assistance to you on this one. Come with me, let’s continue this discussion in my home."

Yona turned to the bees and Silk and bowed. "Thanks for the help, everyone. I will come back tomorrow to test the next batch as well. Your assistance is also totally welcome, Silk!"

The bees happily nodded before flying back to the beehive, while the giant spider gave a slight raise on one of her legs, like saluting Yona before ascending back to the top using her web. Looking at her ascend looks like she is riding an invisible elevator.

Yona and the twins quickly returned to Yona’s house and entered the place. They have entered this place countless times before, but it seems that despite all these years, Yona hasn’t changed much of what the interior looks like. The only things that looked new are the few pieces of wood that seem to have replaced a rotten part.

Sitting on the table in front of the cases with lots of medicinal herbs cased inside a jar, Arthur and Adelaide somehow felt nervous.

"Relax, you two. You all seemed like a bundle of nerves because you two seemed to get startled every now and then."

"Ah...sorry about that..." Arthur felt guilty.

"So? What is it that you needed my help with? A medicinal herb? Getting a concoction or something for the next adventure?" Yona tried guessing.

"We know you are considered our resident expert on medicinal herbs, and even Mother praised you for being our resident physician when it comes to concocting medicine from medicinal herbs, so we came here with the assumption that you have a lot of ideas and expertise regarding medicinal herbs. After all, we are searching for a particular medicinal herb. I hope we approached the right person for this," Adelaide quickly laid out the deal.

"Hmm, alright. Tell me more about this medicinal herb that you two are looking for. I may not know every single medicinal herb, but that doesn’t mean I have no knowledge about them. And with almost my entire life handling them, even those pretty obscure medicinal herb might have already been handled by me in the past."

"Then, have you handled Heartroot Ginseng before?"

Yona’s expression quickly changed after hearing the name. "I see. Heartroot Ginseng hmm? It seems that you two are in luck."

Without warning, two bottles float from the top rack of the cabinet and slowly reach Yona, whom the latter quickly grabs with both hands.

"Heartroot Ginseng...is honestly a pretty common Medicinal Herb. It has the medicinal properties of a regular ginseng and is mostly used as a tonic, as it has good medicinal properties that help restore stamina and vitality to those who consume or drink a concoction made from it," Yona explained.

However, Adelaide, who knew about the effects of regular ginseng, frowned. "If that is the case, isn’t this just a watered-down version of a regular ginseng? In fact, this one is much more less effective compared to the regular ginseng that has most of its capabilities but much more enhanced."

Yona smiled, hearing Adelaide’s rebuttal. "That is true, Ade, and I must admit, you do know a bit. That’s what I believed back then, but honestly, this medicinal herb has some unique properties, which is also why it received the name Heartroot Ginseng in the first place. Even I got surprised that this medicinal herb has a better effect when grown by a human compared to those that grow in the wild. I thought it was just some sort of coincidence, and that’s when I realized that this medicinal herb gains more capability the more it is being taken care of.

"What made you say that, Miss Yona?" Arthur asked, confused.

"As you can see, those Heartroot Ginseng that have been cultivated by humans after they are harvested in the wild have become a boosted version of the regular one, and it also gained a unique trait once it is harvested and used."

"A unique trait?"

"Correct. These cultivated Heartroot Ginseng is capable of actually restoring Life Traces. And can repair broken souls."
