Chapter 587: First Task

"That’s a bit hard, if you think about it. A soul vessel? What is that?" Arthur scratched his head in confusion.

"[It is normal not to know about it, as this thing has been considered as a lost item that has been used during the Ages of the Gods. Back then, this thing was what made preserving souls quite prevalent, considering that during the Ages of Gods, monsters capable of sucking souls were present, so the Gods used this vessel to help with the repair process of the human souls back then who had an unlucky encounter with those creatures. Nowadays, this thing is no longer something being used, with the monsters that eat souls already extinct. However, that doesn’t mean this thing cannot be used. Which is why I have given this task to the two of you to fulfill.]"

Adelaide came over as she was listening to the discussion. "I heard about that. You said the Soul Vessel, right? How are we even going to craft that if we don’t have the recipe for it? That thing is more ancient than us since it originated in the Ages of Gods, there is no way we will find someone who happened to actually sell the blueprint for it, or perhaps stumble upon a book containing how to create it?"

"[Well, who said you need to find it? I have the recipe, I just need to give it to you. As for the materials, that’s all up to you on how to find them.]"

Adelaide and Arthur almost forgot that the guy they are speaking with is none other than the God of Farming. He is someone who have existed way beyond the years that it is natural that he holds a key about anything that existed during the Ages of Gods.

The twins quickly opened their own Almanacs to check the recipe. There, there are only 4 ingredients that are needed to create the soul vessel.

One of them is the "Sand of the Golem’s core". When a golem’s core is ground to dust, this produces the Sand of the Golem’s Core. The two are confident to obtain them, so they quickly check the next item.

The next item is something they heard before but never truly saw, known as "Branch of the Ent." Just like what its name meant, it is a piece of the Ent’s body, one of its branches. The twins have an idea where to find an ent, but since it isn’t a monster native in the mines, it is most likely lurking around the forest.

The next two items are now related to planting but for the twins, this is the first time they have heard and seen these kinds of plants.

"Heartroot Ginseng and Memory Lotus? What are these?" Adelaide scratches her head.

"You have not read these plants in books before, Ade?" Arthur asked.

"Nope. I have a lot of books memorized, and even books for plants are included, and yet there are no records regarding these two. Based on their names, they might be a variant of lotus and ginseng, but how are they even different from the regular ones?"

"How about asking Sister Julia about this? Maybe even Miss Yona and the Grand Sage has an idea about these crops?" Arthur asked.

"[Or maybe even on me?]" the God of Farming teased.

"Nah, if you will tell us, you should have told us in the beginning. Doubt you will tell us that easily."

"[Of course. Assisting you two is one thing, but letting you two have it easy? That’s not part of my task. It might seem heartless coming from me, but I want the two of you to understand how important this is and how taking actions and finding clues on your own is necessary. I don’t want the two of you to feel like you can rely on me forever. I may be a god, but I have no obligation to assist humans in any way, shape, or form. Overcoming a challenge is what helps people grow.]"

Arthur nodded. "No need to be defensive, God of Farming. We know how you gods work, and it is true that this falls under our task to do. We understand your concern, and we appreciate the honesty. Since this involves our Mother’s awakening, we will take this chance to get this solved as soon as possible. You can just sit back and relax, and continue with what you are doing so that once we are done with this task, we can immediately proceed with the next task."

The God of Farming laughed. "[Hahaha! Good, Arthur. I like that response. And what you said is indeed true. The sooner we get Elaina back on her feet, the better. You two have your tasks to do, and I have mine.]"

Adelaide and Arthur nodded. With this, their tasks are now set and they can finally begin with their intended goal of waking Elaina from her coma.

With the communication from the God of Farming cut off, the two started planning.

"Alright, let’s go back to the ingredients of the Soul Vessel. We have two materials that we can procure right away with either us heading there, or asking our friends to fetch it for us, either way works. Our only problem is where we can even find the remaining two materials that we are not even familiar to begin with," Adelaide rubs her chin.

"Ginseng...perhaps Mom already planted something like this before?" Arthur asked.

"Doubt it. Never seen Mom harvest a ginseng or even ginger if you think both looks the same. In short, we have to ask someone who knows about it. Considering it is ginger, I think our highest chance of someone who knows what it is might be Miss Yona considering she is a witch before and she mentioned that she handled a lot of medicinal herbs before. Perhaps the Heartroot Ginseng is something she have encountered before," Adelaide suggested.

Arthur goes quiet as he looked at the Lotus. His eyes is focused on it when he noticed a few of the fairies flying around. He remembered something about the fairies and how they managed to begin their new life again thanks to the help of their Mother. He might be grasping at things, but at this point, he wanted to grasp something indeed.

"Hey, isn’t the home of the fairies living here on the farm...is a lotus? Perhaps...?"

"You think it is the lotus variant we are looking for?" Adelaide finished what Arthur wanted to say.

"Yeah. That’s correct. Considering that the lotus is their home and how it became big enough that it houses a lot of fairies nowadays, do you think the lotus is the Memory Lotus and we just didn’t know?"

Adelaide sighed. "Sometimes, I wonder how you managed to think some dumb things, brother, but right now, I do think you have thought something, even I didn’t immediately connect. Let’s go and check whether this assumption might be the real deal? If it is, then we have lucked out, and we would be only in need of the ginseng."

The twins nodded in agreement and approached the little pond fountain that Elaina made in the past to house the lotus she had grown in the past, now the home of the fairies.

"How should we call them? I know the fairies have been here since we are kids but I barely have any interaction with them..." Arthur scratches his head.

"Let me. I have a few interactions with them when I was young, so I do have an idea," Adelaide quickly took a chance and called for the leader of the fairies.

"Miss Pixie, are you there?"

One of the fairies flying around noticed Adelaide and Arthur calling out for their leader so they quickly approached the two.

"Hello! Are you two looking for a leader?" the little fairy asked.

"Yes. We have some inquiries that we wanted to ask her. Is she inside right now?"

"She should be. She just got home after patrolling the farm perimeter. Let me go and see if she isn’t busy."

The fairy entered the lotus like she entered some sort of portal. The two wondered how all the fairies are able to fit inside the lotus flower, considering that the plant isn’t that big, and despite the small sizes of the fairies, their numbers aren’t something to be scoffed at.

It didn’t take a few minutes for the fairy to come out alongside Pixie in tow.

"Hmm? Adelaide and Arthur? I didn’t expect it to be the two of you who would be looking for me. Is something wrong?" Pixie asked.

"Hello, Pixie. Sorry if we disturbed you while you are working on whatever you are working on right now. But yes, it is we who are looking for you."

Pixie shook her head. "No need to worry. You didn’t disturb me or anything. Anyways, what is going on? Heard you guys have some questions for me?"

"Yes. You see, this involved something related to our mother, and we are doing something that will assist with helping her wake up from her coma. But to do that, we need a certain ingredient that is needed to help with her awakening. This involves a lotus. Now, here is the part we have no idea about, and perhaps we are just trying to see whether we are right. Is the lotus that the fairies are living in, actually the Memory Lotus?"

Pixie is surprised after hearing Adelaide mention the word Memory Lotus. However, she smiled afterwards.

"Although your Mother gave me a regular lotus seed in the past, I have cultivated this lotus with my spiritual power so that it isn’t the regular lotus anymore. Perhaps the two of you are unfamiliar with the Memory Lotus, but this is indeed something we know. Every Lotus that fairies use as their home eventually evolves into a Memory Lotus, a lotus capable of preserving and creating life. You two mentioned you lot needed the lotus, correct? I think there is a chance that what you two are really looking for is the lotus seed itself."

"The Lotus seed?"

"Indeed. I have a feeling that the two of you are trying to create the Soul Vessel, correct? That is the only thing I know that needs the Memory Lotus as an ingredient."

"You are absolutely correct, Miss Pixie!" Adelaide is happy realizing that Pixie might have an idea about what they are looking for.

"You know, your Mother gave me, and the other fairies, another chance to live again. So, since she needed this ingredient, I am willing to give you a seed of the Lotus, just like how she has given me a lotus seed as well. This is a Memory Lotus seed. I hope the two of you succeed."
