Chapter 502: Chapter 499: I Still Prefer a World for Two
With Carter Shaw standing right there, Clara Grant felt a little awkward.
"...Jenna, I’m still in school. It’s... a little early for that." She was too embarrassed to admit that she and Seth Quinn still hadn’t even consummated their marriage.
"Don’t worry, don’t worry. You only have a year left until you graduate anyway. Besides, if you really did get pregnant, you could just take a year off from school," Jenna Quinn said, glancing down at Clara Grant’s belly a few times. "You two use protection every time, don’t you? Stop doing that. Just let nature take its course. A child can bring so much joy."
Clara Grant wasn’t exactly an uninhibited person to begin with, so hearing this in front of Carter Shaw, she could only keep her head down, her face bright red.
Carter Shaw naturally noticed her discomfort and quickly stepped in to help her out. "Alright, Jenna, the elevator’s here. We should go."
"Oh, okay, okay." Carter Shaw guided Jenna Quinn into the elevator, and as the doors slid shut, Clara Grant instantly felt the world grow quiet.
She stared at the elevator doors, shook her head with a small smile, and turned to go back into the hospital room.
Seth Quinn seemed to have grown impatient waiting. The moment she came in, he immediately asked, "What took you so long?"
Clara Grant hurried over to him. "Your sister and I were talking, so I got held up for a minute. Do you want some water? Or some fruit...?"
Seeing how anxious he was, she thought he must have needed something and rattled off a few questions.
Seth Quinn shook his head and pressed, "What did she say to you?" ’She didn’t spout a bunch of nonsense, did she?’
Remembering what Jenna Quinn had said, the blush returned to Clara Grant’s face. "Nothing much. She just apologized and said we should get a meal together sometime."
"Just apologizing and suggesting a meal? What’s there to blush about?" Seth Quinn could tell at a glance that something was off. "She definitely said something else."
"No... It’s just... she said... that we should have a baby soon..."
Seth Quinn thought that, for once, Jenna Quinn had said something that made sense. He was about to nod in agreement, but then he suddenly remembered how Clara Grant acted whenever she saw Cherie. She would be so busy doting on Cherie that she would completely ignore him.
’Clara loves children. If she loves them too much, she’ll ignore me. If we had our own child, would she even have eyes for me anymore? Wouldn’t my place in her heart just plummet?’
’Before, he had wanted a child soon as a way to secure her heart, but now, he found himself hoping they’d wait as long as possible.’
So, Seth Quinn raised an eyebrow, cleared his throat, and said, putting on a considerate air, "You’re still in school, so there’s no rush. Besides, kids are so noisy. I’d rather it just be the two of us for a while longer."
"Mm, I was thinking the same thing." As the words left her mouth, Clara Grant found the whole situation a bit ridiculous.
’Two people who had only slept together once were actually discussing when to have children. Weren’t they getting way ahead of themselves?’
...
In a coffee shop, Autumn Shelby and Faye Jennings sat facing each other at a secluded table in the back.
Faye Jennings hadn’t wanted to come, but she’d made an excuse to leave the film set to meet Autumn Shelby after what she’d said at the end of their phone call.
She was curious to hear what this supposed matter with "everything to gain and nothing to lose" was all about.
A server came over to ask for their orders.
They each ordered their favorite type of coffee, and the server left with a nod, telling them to wait a moment.
Autumn Shelby looked at Faye Jennings across the table and suddenly smiled. "I remember you used to dislike coffee, didn’t you? Oh, no, that’s not right. You wanted to like it, but since you’d never really drunk it before, you couldn’t get used to the taste."
