Chapter 368: Chapter 361: Her Grand Drama Can’t Be Staged as Scheduled?

"Hello, Miss. Is the owner of this phone your mother?" The man’s voice sounded like he was in his forties or fifties—calm and well-mannered.

"Yes," Clara Grant replied, subconsciously tightening her grip on the phone.

"I see. Could you please come to XX Road? Your mother just jaywalked against a red light and my car..."

Seth Quinn, who was leaning close to the earpiece, heard the address and immediately spun the car around, heading in the opposite direction without a second thought for the one-way street.

Before the man on the other end could finish, Clara Grant’s hand was shaking uncontrollably. "Are you saying... my mom was in a car... accident? Is she— Is she okay?"

"Miss, please don’t worry. It wasn’t quite a car accident. Your mother was just a bit frightened," Marcus Jarvis said, his gaze falling on the woman who was being helped up by his driver. Her eyes were still vacant.

Clara Grant finally let out a sigh of relief. "Okay, okay, we’re on our way. But until we get there, could I trouble you to please keep an eye on my mother, sir?"

Marcus Jarvis chuckled. "Of course. Don’t worry, I’m not going to run off."

Hearing him chuckle, Clara Grant knew her mother must be fine, and she gave a small, embarrassed laugh in return. She hadn’t meant to imply she thought he would flee the scene.

...

When Seth Quinn’s car suddenly turned around, the vehicle that had been following them at a distance pulled to a stop. The man inside picked up his phone and made another call.

"What?" Autumn Shelby frowned in confusion as she drove. "Seth Quinn turned back?"

’They were almost at the Quinn Family’s estate, why would he suddenly turn back? Does this mean the big drama I arranged can’t be staged today as planned?’

A moment later, however, Autumn Shelby’s lips curled into a smile. ’This is good, too. Whether they go to the Quinn Family’s estate today or not, this has bought both me and Chloe Grant more time.’

’I have time to strike first, and Chloe Grant has more time to get her hands on that paternity test.’

She quickly spoke into the phone, "Keep following them. Report back to me immediately if anything happens."

Once the person on the other end acknowledged her order, she tapped her Bluetooth earpiece and continued driving toward the Quinn Family’s estate.

...

「At this moment, at the Grant Family’s estate, Chloe Grant and Yara Jarvis’s plan was quietly underway.」

...

By the time Clara Grant and Seth Quinn arrived, Marcus Jarvis and his driver had already helped Skylar Hayes to a bench in a shady spot by the side of the road.

Clara jumped out of the car and ran over, grabbing Skylar Hayes’s hand and looking her up and down. "Mom, Mom, are you okay?" she asked frantically.

Hearing her daughter’s voice, Skylar Hayes finally seemed to come to her senses a little. She stared blankly at Clara Grant, who was crouching in front of her. "Oh, Clara, I’m fine. I’m fine."

Although she spoke, her gaze was still vacant, and her voice sounded flat.

Just as Clara Grant was about to speak, a pleasant voice sounded from beside her. "Miss, I’m certain our car didn’t hit your mother. But if you’re worried, we can take her to the hospital for a check-up."

Clara Grant looked up to see a man who, despite being in his fifties, was dapper and carried an extraordinary air about him. She recognized his voice; he was the man from the phone.

She stood up and looked at him. For some reason, she felt she could trust him. After glancing at her mother again, she turned back to the man. "Sir, I believe you. My mother was probably just frightened. A hospital check-up won’t be necessary."

She had just finished speaking when Seth Quinn, having parked the car, rushed over. He looked at Skylar Hayes, then asked Clara Grant in a low voice, "How is she? Is your mom okay?"

Clara Grant shook her head. "She’s fine."

Marcus Jarvis’s gaze landed on Seth Quinn and paused for a moment. He looked vaguely familiar.
