But he quickly averted his gaze and looked back at Clara Grant. He didn’t press the issue, instead taking a business card from his pocket and handing it to her. "This is my card. If any issues arise, feel free to call the number on it to reach me. May I have your last name, miss?"
Clara Grant took it and saw the name printed on it: Marcus Jarvis.
She smiled and was just about to speak when Seth Quinn cut in, "Seth Quinn. She’s my wife."
As he spoke, he wrapped an arm around Clara Grant’s waist, as if declaring his ownership. His gaze toward Marcus Jarvis wasn’t exactly friendly.
Marcus Jarvis was taken aback for a moment, but then he simply smiled without saying anything.
Clara Grant, however, blushed and struggled slightly. "Mr. Jarvis, my name is Clara Grant, and my mother is Skylar Hayes."
"Well, Miss Grant, I’ll be on my way then. I have some other business to attend to." After speaking, Marcus Jarvis gave a slight nod to Seth Quinn, then turned to leave. He stopped after taking only two steps.
He turned back to look at Skylar Hayes, who was sitting dazedly on the bench. After a moment’s hesitation, he said to Clara Grant, "Miss Grant, with a... patient... like your mother, it would be best if someone accompanied her when she goes out from now on."
With that, he nodded at them one last time and left.
Clara Grant froze. She glanced back at Skylar Hayes, still in a daze, and suddenly understood. ’He must think Mom has a mental condition.’
She turned to explain, but Marcus Jarvis’s car was already pulling away.
Inside Marcus Jarvis’s car, he was lost in thought for a few seconds before asking his driver, "Lowell, that Seth Quinn..."
The driver, Lowell, seemed to know what he wanted to ask and quickly replied, "President Jarvis, you mean Seth Quinn? He’s the First Young Master of the Quinn Family—Theodore Quinn’s eldest son and the president of Aegis Entertainment."
"You just returned to the country, so you might not be aware, but the news about First Young Master Quinn and Miss Grant’s relationship just broke the day before yesterday. But today he called her his wife... could they have had a flash wedding?"
’Theodore Quinn’s eldest son... no wonder he looked somewhat familiar.’
Marcus Jarvis chuckled, touching his forehead. ’Novaria really is a small city. To think I’d run into Theodore Quinn’s son the moment I came back!’

Clara Grant crouched down again, carefully studying her mother’s expression as she called out, "Mom? Mom..."
Skylar Hayes finally snapped back to reality. She looked surprised to see Clara Grant and Seth Quinn in front of her. "Clara, Seth, what are you two doing here?"
Clara Grant and Seth Quinn exchanged a look before Clara asked, "Mom, are you okay? Did you get a scare from almost being hit by the car?"
Skylar Hayes’s gaze shifted as the scene flashed through her mind. She had wanted to run across the street to catch that person, but as she reached the middle of the road, a car had startled her, causing her to fall.
By the time she scrambled back to her feet and looked across, that person was long gone.
’Afterward, my mind was a chaotic mess. I could have caught him, I could have grabbed him... but I let him get away!’
’This was the first time I’d seen him on the street in over twenty years. Now that I’ve lost my chance, will I ever see him again?’
At the thought, Skylar Hayes couldn’t help but scan the area around her.
She looked at Clara Grant. "By the way, where did that gentleman go?"
Clara Grant knew she was asking about Marcus Jarvis. "Mr. Jarvis just left."
"I never got to thank him. I was the one who ran into the street, and his car didn’t even hit me. Yet I made him waste all that time watching over me."
As she was speaking, Skylar Hayes suddenly remembered something. "Weren’t you two on your way to the Quinn family’s home? Quick, you should get going."
