Chapter 691: Preparing for the Picnic
"I’ll ask my dad to buy a fishing rod too." Yu Yi was quite interested.
Then a few kids gathered together, excitedly discussing how they were going to have their outdoor adventure.
When Xu Mumu came to pick up Doudou and Fengfeng, the two little guys hadn’t finished their discussion yet.
"All right, still not done talking? Have you come to any conclusions yet?" Xu Mumu asked the group of kids with a smile.
"We’ve already finished discussing. I’ve noted down what we need to bring in the notebook. Mom, I’ll show it to you when we get back." The little one said excitedly.
"Great, then I’ll help you check if anything is missing." Xu Mumu smiled and nodded. She hadn’t seen her son this happy for a long time.
Back at home, Xu Mumu also saw the little one’s notebook full of notes. It was recorded in great detail, with every needed item written down so precisely that it made Xu Mumu’s mouth twitch. Was this little guy planning to move the whole house over?
The most noted items were various snacks, and it was the first time Xu Mumu realized there were so many kinds of snacks.
"Snacks will be brought by Little Uncle and Brother Yu Yi, I’ll bring the chicken legs and wings made by Madam Chun and my toys, and I also need to bring my harmonica. Little Uncle said he wanted to hear me play." The little one’s face turned a bit red with embarrassment.
"Fine, we’ll bring all these for you. I won’t choose the fishing rod, we’ll ask Great-Grandpa. They know these things." Xu Mumu said with a smile.
Her son was rarely this happy, so let him play as he liked. Bringing more things wouldn’t be a problem.
At that time, she planned to bring Madam Chun along. The kids all loved the food made by Madam Chun, and even if it was just barbecue, they preferred Madame Chun’s cooking.
The little one indeed went to find Professor Song and the group, "Great-Grandpa, Grandpa, where do we buy fishing rods? If we can’t buy them, we’ll ask Uncle to make one. Little Uncle said Uncle can make fishing rods."
"I’m sure fishing rods can be bought. There’s a fishing gear store near your Uncle’s supermarket, we can check out the rods there." Professor Jian stroked his chin. The rods he made weren’t professional enough; to enjoy fishing, a good rod is necessary.
"Then let’s go now, call Little Uncle, he needs a rod too." Doudou’s eyes lit up.
"Alright, let’s go now. We’ll take Congcong and Ruirui out for a stroll too." Professor Jian said with a smile.
Xu Mumu followed along. She wasn’t interested in fishing but thought a walk would be nice.
Thus, a large group headed towards the fishing gear store.
A few men and kids chatted excitedly about the outdoor adventure up ahead.
Xu Mumu stayed back, chatting with Jiang Yuxiu, while also carrying her little niece.
Yun Qiu, a quiet and well-behaved little girl, was very much liked by Xu Mumu.
"Yun Qiu, do you want a biscuit? Auntie will buy you some." Xu Mumu brushed her cheek against Yun Qiu’s soft face, so soft it touched her heart; to her, Yun Qiu seemed like the daughter she always wanted.
"No thanks, my teeth will get bad." The little girl quickly shook her head; she wasn’t allowed to eat too many snacks at home, so she was extremely obedient.
"Alright, then we’ll buy something else later." Xu Mumu said with a smile.
"You’re so fond of daughters; why not have another one yourself?" Jiang Yuxiu looked at her sister-in-law doting on her own daughter and chuckled lightly.
"I do want to, but currently, I’m not planning on having more. I’ve already had three sons." Xu Mumu sighed, fearing she’d have another son, and not wanting her hopes dashed again.
"Oh come on, others might want to beat you if they hear this. Three sons and still not satisfied." Jiang Yuxiu teased her with a laugh.
"Well, I might actually get beaten up." Xu Mumu laughed out loud.
After buying several fishing rods, the group headed back.
The next day Yin Yang set aside his work to spend a day with his family.
"Dad, are you coming too?" Doudou was extremely excited.
"Yes, aren’t you happy?" Yin Yang smiled and patted his son’s head. He’d been busy lately and had neglected his son a bit.
"Very happy!" The little guy hugged the little fox and spun around joyously. He was overjoyed, thinking his dad wouldn’t come. Lately, his dad returned home late every night.
The next morning, just as Xu Mumu got up, she found that Doudou had dressed himself up, wearing a hat, a little suit, with a cute bowtie, looking incredibly adorable.
"Mom, does it look good?" The little one asked Xu Mumu expectantly.
"Yes, my son’s got good taste." Xu Mumu said earnestly. She truly thought her son had an eye for fashion; dressed in his little suit, he looked much more spirited.
"Really?" The little guy blushed at the praise.
After breakfast, Xu Mumu got into the car to head to the villa area, where Doudou called Fengfeng and Yu Yi, urging them to hurry and meet up later.
The car arrived at the villa area, a place the little one was very familiar with; he dashed off to Fourth Uncle’s house, seeking out his cousin to play.
Xu Mumu and the others sat in the courtyard of the fourth house, chatting away. Currently, Xu Jiaojiao and Xu Tao were in the Imperial City, working. Now at home, it was just the couple with their children.
"Mumu, your kids have grown up so nicely and they’re quite handsome." Seeing the two little ones, Sun Huiping gave them a hug. Well-raised, they felt quite substantial.
"Of course. We both look good, so naturally our children do too." Xu Mumu responded self-assuredly.
"Absolutely." Sun Huiping agreed heartily, Xu Mumu and her husband were indeed good-looking, even more so than the television stars.
Xu Mumu was calm, familiar with so many compliments about their appearance. Their looks had brought quite a bit of trouble to the couple, but they were used to the compliments now.
Xu Mumu explained to her aunt what they were doing that day, and they leisurely chatted in the courtyard. Soon enough, Xu Minghui and his wife arrived with their mischievous little brother in the car.
"Sister!" As soon as he saw his sister Yun Qiu, Doudou found the orange he was eating lost its flavor and rushed to her side.
"Brother Doudou." The little girl politely greeted, dressed beautifully by her mom for the day.
Xu Mumu was filled with admiration, while Yin Yang gently squeezed his wife’s hand: "Stop staring so intensely." Yin Yang said, amused.
"I’ll have a daughter in a few years." Xu Mumu declared boldly.
"What if it’s another son?" Yin Yang asked, as he gazed longingly at his wife. He also wished for a little princess, but after three sons, he was despairing, fearing the next would be a son too. If that happened, he might be devastated.
