Chapter 690: Preparing for the Picnic

Coming back from Xia Chengyuan’s workshop, Xu Mumu was in a great mood. With the current progress from Xia Chengyuan and the others, they could create what she wanted in just over a year.

Thinking about the delightful days ahead, Xu Mumu felt even happier.

The two little ones were at home with Professor Song and the others taking care of them. Now both professors had outright resigned and were at home every day with the two kids, completely engrossed in their care.

"Mumu, you’re back. Did you have fun outside?" Professor Song asked while entertaining the kids with toys.

The names of the two little ones are Yin Mo, the older brother, and Yin Lian, the younger brother. Their nicknames were originally meant to be given by Madam Chen, but the two professors took over the task.

Yin Yang chose their formal names, so they insisted on giving them nicknames.

Yin Yang went along with them for this good-natured fuss. Previously, he had thought up nicknames for a daughter, but ended up with two sons, and a daughter was nowhere in sight, which made him quite frustrated.

The professors thought for quite some time about the children’s nicknames. They named the second child Congcong and the third Ruirui, as they had high expectations for them.

Xu Mumu thought the professors did a decent job naming them, much more carefully than when naming the dogs, and nicer sounding than the dogs’ names.

Xu Mumu was quite satisfied with the children’s nicknames and thought they were fine.

"I had a great time, thank you Grandpa and Sir Jian. Congcong and Ruirui didn’t cause a fuss today, did they?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile.

The two little ones are actually very lively, liking to be carried around to play. If they could walk, they’d want to roam around themselves.

"No, they were very good. They played in the garden for quite a while today," Professor Song smiled, clearly fond of the kids.

"Grandpa, don’t tire yourselves too much and spoil them," Xu Mumu pinched the two boys’ cheeks. They were healthy and plump, especially with all the pampering from the professors.

Luckily, the professors kept wise and did not let them continue gaining weight.

Doudou’s favorite after-school activity is reading to his brothers, telling them about what the teacher taught, and how boring it was. It was all so easy for him, yet he had to listen obediently every day.

Even though the two little ones didn’t understand, Doudou now had two more listeners.

"Mom, we’re having midterm exams in a few days," the little fellow rested his chin on his hands, a book in front of him, happily looking at Xu Mumu. He loves exams, he’s aiming to be number one, having seen his mom’s collection of numerous certificates, he wants many of those too.

"It’s too easy for you," Xu Mumu smirked slightly, not taking such a small matter to heart.

"Wow, midterms are coming, huh Doudou? When you get first place, I’ll take you to the amusement park," said a delighted Professor Song, ever the doting grandparent.

Then came doting grandparent number two, Professor Jian’s comment: "Doudou, once exams are over and it’s break time, do you want to go picnicking? We can gather a few people and spend two days at the estate."

"Is picnicking fun?" Doudou asked curiously, as he hadn’t gone before.

"Of course it’s fun, we’ll bring food and pots. There are plenty of open spaces at the villa, picnicking there will surely be enjoyable. There are also several ponds, your great grandfather will teach you to fish then."

"Just us going? Should we invite Uncle and the others?" Doudou felt a spark of anticipation.

"Certainly, you can also invite your other friends, it would definitely be more lively if they want to come."

"Then let’s invite brother Yu Yi," Doudou chimed in immediately.

"Sure, you can tell them about it at school and ask if he wants to join,"

Professor Jian finished and didn’t forget to give a playful glance at Professor Song. Just going to an amusement park, how many times have they done that, how could it be more creative than his suggestion?

Professor Song, being bested: "....." This old rascal just gets more annoying with age, always competing over everything and even fighting for attention from the great-grandchildren. He’s lost to him several times, feeling annoyed, next time he has to come up with a more entertaining plan.

Xu Mumu refrained from commenting from the side, but felt going out together was quite nice. Now that the weather was warmer, the little ones could go outside and breathe some fresh air.

The little fox lazily lounged beside Xu Mumu, it had grown quite a bit and remained popular at home, especially liked by Doudou with its fluffy fur, always reluctant to let go when holding it.

The next evening, when the little ones returned home from school, Fengfeng had tagged along, filled with excitement about the picnic plan, expressing strongly that he would definitely go, and Yu Yi also agreed to join, ensuring it would be very lively.

The little ones’ midterm exams arrived on schedule, Xu Mumu wasn’t worried at all, knowing her child’s skills were quite high, and the first-grade exams were nothing for him.

But then there was Fengfeng, who knew what would happen? Although Fengfeng was quite smart, this little fellow tended to be careless.

Grading first-grade exams was super easy, the results were out by the end of the exam day. No surprise here, Doudou scored perfect marks, but Fengfeng’s carelessness led to two mistakes, fetching 98 in Math, while young Yu Yi also did excellent, securing full marks for all.

"Ah, I’m the only one who made mistakes," Fengfeng lamented over his test paper, his mood falling.

"Uncle, no worries, next time if you’re careful, you’ll also score full marks," the little fellow knew well his uncle’s abilities, having studied together for so long.

"Are you just comforting me?" Fengfeng slouched over the table, lacking spirit.

"Why would I comfort you? You obviously can do this, you shouldn’t have made mistakes," the little fellow said earnestly.

"That’s right, I can do it, next time I won’t make mistakes." The little one said with determination.

"That’s more like it," Doudou said, smirking with approval, his uncle showed promise.

"By the way, what delicious things are you meeting to bring for the picnic tomorrow?" Yu Yi, excited about tomorrow’s picnic, having gotten his parents’ consent, was eager to join.

"I like chicken wings, I’m going to have mom buy chicken wings, also chicken legs, they’re tasty too," Fengfeng listed his favorites, almost drooling.

"My mom says eating fish makes you smart, I’m going with Grandpa to fish, you want to join?" Doudou proudly lifted his chin.

"But I don’t have a fishing rod. I’ll ask brother to take me to buy one," Fengfeng became interested upon hearing about fishing.
