Chapter 557: The Family’s Little Darling
"Mumu, Doudou is so adorable. The photos have been developed. Can you give me a copy of Doudou’s photo?" Yu Xinyao said enviously while looking at the photos with Xu Mumu.
"No problem, we took so many anyway. I’ll give you one," Xu Mumu said generously.
With the photos ready, Xu Mumu went out with her son and Yin Yang. All the visitors were family and friends, and the gathering was quite lively.
Xu Mumu sat with Madam Chen and the others, but as soon as she arrived, Li Caixia snatched the child to hold. No one else could compete with her.
Seeing her child taken away, Xu Mumu smiled helplessly. As long as her mother was happy, she didn’t mind.
The family enjoyed a lively meal together. The little one was so cute that many came to see him.
Now that Xu Mumu had a child, Li Caixia started urging her son, Xu Minghui, as well. He and his wife had been married for quite some time now, several months, and there were still no signs of a baby.
"Mom, we can take our time with the baby. We’re still young. We can have a child whenever we want. Neither my wife nor I have graduated yet, so even if we want a child, it should be after we graduate," Xu Minghui said helplessly, understanding his mother’s thoughts well.
"Sigh, fine, I won’t say anything. At this rate, it’ll be more than a year before I can have a grandchild," Li Caixia pouted, reluctant to speak further.
At least with a grandson around, once he’s a bit older, she could take him to the corner store every day.
When Xu Mumu and Jiang Yuxiu arrived, they overheard her mother’s words.
Xu Mumu’s mouth twitched. Her mother was too eager. Her brother was right; they’re still in school, and having a child could wait until after graduation.
Jiang Yuxiu’s face was a bit red. She had discussed this with Xu Minghui, and they’d agreed to wait two years before having children, preferring to enjoy their life together first.
"Sister-in-law, don’t take it to heart. Mom is just straightforward," Xu Mumu said gently.
"I know, I’m not upset." Jiang Yuxiu shook her head with a smile. She thought she had a good eye. While the Xu family wasn’t super wealthy, Xu Minghui treated her well. He discussed everything with her and wouldn’t blindly follow his mother’s words, often helping mediate in-law relations. She couldn’t be more satisfied.
Xu Mumu sighed with relief. Her mother just loved to urge her children to have babies, even though there were already many kids at home.
The Xu family still had two children who weren’t grown yet. Having so many kids meant there wasn’t enough energy to watch over them all, especially with the family business being so busy now that they owned a shop.
In the afternoon, Yin Yang took the camera to have the photos developed.
Xu Mumu had just finished her confinement period, but Yin Yang still didn’t want her to go out. The weather was getting cooler, and the wind outside was strong. Better to wait a few more days before going out.
Although Xu Mumu complained a bit, she obediently listened.
It was the end of her confinement period, and last night she had Madam Chun prepare plenty of water for her, allowing her to finally wash herself thoroughly. Despite occasionally wiping herself during confinement, nothing beat the comfort of a nice, hot bath.
"They’ve gone far away; stop looking," Jiang Yuxiu teased, watching her sister-in-law with a smile as Yin Yang walked away. The Xu family had no internal conflicts and was quite harmonious.
If Xu Mumu had known what her sister-in-law was thinking, she would’ve rolled her eyes. Her mother and grandmother weren’t easy to deal with either. The family was harmonious now only because everyone was busy; bickering couldn’t beat making money. Money was the biggest motivation.
Xu Mumu blushed slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed. She mainly wanted to go out, even if just to take a walk with Yin Yang. It would be so nice, but he insisted she recuperate well, which was somewhat frustrating.
"Sister-in-law, you’re teasing me! Hmph, I’m not letting you hold Doudou," Xu Mumu huffed proudly, before taking her son back to her room.
"No, please let me hold him. Otherwise, if Mom sees, I won’t get the chance," Jiang Yuxiu called out, rushing over. She loved Doudou too. Although she didn’t have time to have children yet, it didn’t stop her from liking them.
The youngest brother at home was also adorable, a bit mischievous at times. Doudou was even more well-behaved, especially when he smiled at her, making her feel like her heart was melting.
"Sister-in-law, I want to hold Doudou too," Fengfeng said, coming over without anyone noticing as Jiang Yuxiu held the little one.
Earlier, Xu Minghui had held his hand and let him hold Doudou for a moment. Since then, the little guy had been wanting to hold him again. When no one was helping, Xu Mumu wouldn’t let the little brother hold Doudou. Fengfeng wasn’t even four years old, too small and not strong enough. Even though Doudou was little, adults holding him was more reassuring.
"No, you’re still too young. You can’t hold Doudou. We’ll let your brother support your hand to hold him when he returns. How about that?" Jiang Yuxiu said gently.
"But big brother won’t return until evening," the little guy said disappointedly.
"No worries, I’ll hold Doudou while you talk to him," Jiang Yuxiu said with a smile.
"Sister-in-law, isn’t Doudou hungry? Should we feed him some formula?" The little guy climbed onto the sofa, watching his little nephew and holding the little one’s hand as he asked his sister-in-law.
Besides breastfeeding, Doudou was sometimes fed a bit of formula when Xu Mumu wasn’t watching. Yin Yang specifically found this formula, which was suitable for newborns.
"Doudou isn’t hungry yet. Your sister fed him before the meal, so he’s not hungry now," Jiang Yuxiu replied with a smile.
By the time Xu Mumu had organized the gifts they’d received, Jiang Yuxiu had lulled Doudou to sleep.
"Mumu, I’m heading over. You should rest too," Jiang Yuxiu whispered to Xu Mumu, not wanting to wake the sleeping little one, as she led Fengfeng.
Fengfeng covered his mouth with one hand, his shiny black eyes fixed intently on the little one.
"Alright, thank you, sister-in-law," Xu Mumu nodded.
After seeing her sister-in-law off, Xu Mumu looked at her peacefully sleeping little one and kissed his soft cheek. Xu Mumu was overwhelmed with sweetness, suddenly understanding why Yin Yang kept bringing clothes and toys home. The little one was so precious; she wanted to lay the whole world at his feet.
"Alright, we’re off," Jiang Yuxiu waved her hand, still having things to do at home.
Now Madam Chen and the others went to the shop every day, so household chores fell to Jiang Yuxiu. Madam Chen had a bit of a cleanliness obsession, so her standards were naturally a bit higher. But Jiang Yuxiu never complained, thinking it was quite nice. She also liked a tidy home.
