Chapter 555: Too Much
The little guy is spoiled by everyone in the family every day. Xu Mumu spends her days reading books, as she doesn’t need to worry about the child.
However, Yin Yang discussed the full moon banquet with her. According to Yin Yang’s plan, he wanted to have a big celebration and invite friends and family over for a lively gathering.
Xu Mumu thought about it for a moment and agreed. They could definitely afford to host a banquet, and Yin Yang was eager to announce it to everyone, so she didn’t see the need to refuse.
With Xu Mumu’s agreement, Yin Yang went to discuss the details with Madam Chen and the others. Professor Song and the group had planned to leave before the full moon banquet.
When Professor Song found out about the full moon banquet, he wished he could stay. If not for the many students waiting for them at the school, they would have definitely stayed.
The little guy is so small, soft, and cute. They would have to wait a long time to see him again after they leave, and by then, he probably wouldn’t recognize them.
Madam Chen and the others also wanted to have a grand event. It’s a rare happy occasion for the family, and over the past half-year, the family had earned quite a bit of money. Madam Chen wanted to celebrate extravagantly for once.
All the preparations for the full moon banquet were quickly decided, and Xu Mumu didn’t need to worry about anything. She just had to bring the child and enjoy the food and drinks on the day.
While Xu Mumu was at home reading the books sent by Professor Song, Yu Xinyao arrived with gifts.
Yu Xinyao brought a lot of baby clothes, shoes, for both summer and winter, and there were plenty of styles.
"Why did you bring so many clothes? We hardly have room for them," Xu Mumu said with a helpless smile.
Then she took Yu Xinyao to the adjacent room. It was already filled to the brim with clothes and toys for the little guy, enough to last several years.
"Isn’t this a bit too much?" Yu Xinyao exclaimed, speechless as she looked at Xu Mumu’s collection. Even if the child changed outfits every day, it probably wouldn’t repeat for half a year.
"If I didn’t stop them, there would have been even more," Xu Mumu said with a smile. It was the first time she realized that the Old Xu Family could buy things almost as prodigiously as Yin Yang. Especially Li Caixia, whose taste left Xu Mumu with a headache. The clothes she bought for Doudou were so old-fashioned, very characteristic of the era.
Xu Mumu preferred to dress her child in more refined and beautiful outfits, which made her feel more at ease. Her mother’s good intentions were neatly packed away.
"I figured you wouldn’t be short on toys, so I didn’t bring any. I just bought some clothes and milk formula, but it seems like you won’t need these either," Yu Xinyao said helplessly. Along with the items she brought, she gifted the little one a small jade pendant that hung perfectly around his neck.
"Don’t worry, the things you brought will definitely be used," Xu Mumu replied as she sat back on the bed. Even though she had said countless times that she was perfectly healthy, only Yin Yang somewhat believed her. Nevertheless, he and Madam Chen insisted that she rest properly during her confinement.
"My aunt is especially good at making tiger head hats. Next time, I’ll ask her to make a couple to send over. Doudou will definitely look good wearing them," Yu Xinyao said, gently poking the little one’s cheek. It was so tender and soft, and being watched by those moist eyes made her heart melt. It made her want to get married, thinking that if she and Huo Qingze, both not lacking in looks, had a child, it should be as cute as Doudou.
Thinking about it, Yu Xinyao felt a bit eager. Her family was also starting to urge her, considering she and Huo Qingze had been together for a few months and were well-acquainted. Her family hoped for a wedding soon.
Huo Qingze planned to develop his career in this area, which her family found especially satisfying. His mother and hers were old friends, and it was Huo Qingze’s uncle who introduced them.
"Isn’t it troublesome for your aunt?" Xu Mumu asked, intrigued. Her precious child would look even cuter with a tiger head hat, and she imagined taking lots of photos to keep as memories.
"No trouble at all. My aunt took early retirement and has plenty of free time," Yu Xinyao replied with a smile, shaking her head.
The two chatted for a long time, and Xu Mumu even asked about her and Huo Qingze’s marriage plans. Huo Qingze wasn’t young anymore, and Yu Xinyao was a year older than Xu Mumu.
Eventually, Yu Xinyao left, blushing from the questioning. Only then did Xu Mumu let her off the hook.
However, she truly hoped they could get married. Although she hadn’t seen Xu Xue for a while, Yin Yang gathered a lot of news about her to amuse her.
It seemed Xu Xue had thought things over and became more dedicated to managing her family’s restaurant. The second family’s financial control was entirely in Xu Xue’s hands.
Xu Xue managed all family expenses, while her parents helped keep an eye on the shop and occasionally took care of her younger brother. She essentially treated her parents like employees, giving them some pocket money each month to prevent them from squandering too much.
When Xu Mumu and Madam Chen first learned of this, they were silent for a moment. Then Madam Chen remarked with appreciation that despite her younger son’s shortcomings, Xu Xue showed unexpected capability.
The sons weren’t particularly accomplished, but the grandchildren were turning out much better. Madam Chen no longer bothered with her foolish sons. Having managed the household her whole life, she couldn’t do it forever. She pursued her own career, relishing the joy of earning money, and had no time to worry about her sons.
Now, Madam Chen was very content. Her capable grandchildren were enough. As she walked around the neighborhood, the elderly folks all admired and envied her for having such talented grandchildren.
The days passed swiftly, and soon it was time for Professor Song and Sir Jian to leave. Before their departure, Professor Song and Professor Jian almost quarreled over who could hold the child longer, which amused Xu Mumu, but she couldn’t help feeling reluctant to see them go.
Having Professor Song and others around made Xu Mumu’s life easier. She could discuss many ideas with Professor Song, who would also point out her weaknesses and enlighten her on what she didn’t understand.
Professor Song was not only a mentor but also a confidant, sharing many similar thoughts.
"Grandpa, Sir Jian, take care on the road. I can’t see you off to the train station," Xu Mumu reluctantly said to the two professors.
