Chapter 551: Educating Younger Siblings
"Exactly, exactly, listen to your sister." Madam Chen wholeheartedly agreed with her granddaughter’s words. She had heard plenty of gossip about those kinds of scoundrels.
"No way, really?" Xu Jiaojiao obviously hadn’t heard all this before.
Xu Mumu shared with Xu Jiaojiao and the others several modern cases she heard about, hoping they would open their eyes. Now is the time to study, not to consider these things, and even in the future when looking for a partner, they shouldn’t just consider appearances.
"Big sis, are there really such bad people?" Xu Jiaojiao felt like her worldview had been shaken. How could there be people so awful?
"Of course there are. You can’t judge a book by its cover. In the future, when you interact with others, you should be cautious. There are all kinds of people in society, and there are even worse ones, although good people are in the majority." Xu Mumu added another line; she didn’t want her younger siblings to be naive and gullible.
The kids fell silent; big sister had never talked to them about these things before, and the people they met were always nice, so naturally, they hadn’t encountered what Xu Mumu was describing.
"I’m telling you these things hoping that you’ll be more vigilant and not trust everyone blindly." Xu Mumu looked seriously at her little siblings, thinking that Li Caixia might not remember to tell them these things, so she had to do it herself.
"Listen to your big sister and learn a little. Our family’s situation is not bad, but don’t be foolish enough to be taken advantage of and even help count the money." Madam Chen said with a smile, thinking her granddaughter spoke well. She hadn’t taught her kids properly, which led them to make foolish decisions.
"Got it, grandma." The kids obediently nodded. The words from their sister today were quite a shock to them.
After advising the kids, Xu Mumu noticed they all seemed a bit downcast, so she asked Madam Chun to bring some snacks for them to eat.
Sure enough, with something tasty to eat, the kids immediately got distracted and happily munched away.
Xu Mumu smiled helplessly. They were still just children, after all.
At night, Yin Yang and Xu Mumu were discussing the due date for their baby. It was already nearing the tenth month of pregnancy, and Xu Mumu was eight months along.
"Honey, I’ve mostly wrapped up things over here and handed the rest to Huo Qingze. I’ll be at home with you every day until the baby is born," Yin Yang said, looking at Xu Mumu’s large belly, knowing she hadn’t been sleeping well at night. He was very distressed.
"Yaoyao was complaining to me today, saying Huo Qingze is too busy with work and you gave him so much to do. Yaoyao might hold a grudge against you." Xu Mumu said with a smile.
"That’s fine. You’re more important. She can hold a grudge if she wants," Yin Yang said, unconcerned, focusing only on Xu Mumu’s belly.
Everything was arranged at the hospital, and even though everything that needed to be prepared was ready, he still couldn’t rest easy. Childbirth is like walking through the gates of hell, and he couldn’t be at ease.
The closer the due date approached, the more anxious Yin Yang became. The excitement he felt when he first found out he was going to be a father was long gone.
"Mumu, have you felt any discomfort in your belly today?" Yin Yang asked with concern, looking at Xu Mumu. In another month, the baby would be born, and Xu Mumu’s belly was quite large now.
"Nope, I’m fine," Xu Mumu said helplessly. Initially, she was a bit scared about giving birth, but seeing how anxious Yin Yang was every day, she wasn’t so scared anymore. Xu Family women had given birth many times and were all fine, so she had nothing to worry about.
"Don’t worry. How about we go see a movie tomorrow? I’ll be fine." Xu Mumu said in a coy tone, holding Yin Yang’s hand. Yin Yang owned a cinema, so it was very convenient for them to see a movie, and it wasn’t far. Xu Mumu had already taken Yin Yang a few times.
"Sure, what do you want to watch? I’ll have them prepare the discs for tomorrow." Of course, he agreed with his little wife’s request, and he had even cleared a room there specifically for Xu Mumu. Every time they went, it was just the two of them watching alone.
"I want to watch a romance movie," Xu Mumu said with a smile.
"Alright, whatever you want. I’ll call Yun Hong in a bit." Yin Yang nodded.
As Xu Mumu’s due date approached, she could clearly feel the atmosphere at home becoming tense. Even the kids were afraid to touch her, fearing they’d accidentally hurt her.
There was always someone at home, especially Madam Chen, who had put Xu Hai in charge of the fast food place and stayed at home with Li Caixia looking after Xu Mumu. Both had experience from having several children themselves.
Yin Yang didn’t go out either, and even if she walked a few more steps, he would worry for half the day.
But Xu Mumu was well aware of her own condition, knowing she was healthy. Occasionally she had cramps at night and couldn’t sleep well due to her large belly, which was a bit inconvenient.
The nursery was prepared with all sorts of things, even items for when the child would be about ten years old, most of which Yin Yang had prepared himself. If it hadn’t been for Xu Mumu stopping him, Yin Yang would have invited an old doctor from Lan City to their home.
The old doctor came from a family of Imperial Physicians. His medical skills were excellent, so much so that Yin Yang brought him in to be the doctor for the Yin Family. His pharmacy was incorporated into the Yin Family’s business. Now, besides treating Yin Family members, the old doctor still practiced at the pharmacy.
Xu Mumu ate and drank well every day, with an increased appetite. She needed quite a bit to feel full, probably because of her superpower, leading to a faster metabolism and stronger digestion.
When Yin Yang came home at night, Xu Mumu saw him holding a box with a curious expression. The box was very nicely patterned, indicating the contents must be valuable. Xu Mumu asked curiously, "What’s that?"
"I just had someone find this, a ginseng over three hundred years old. Might come in handy when you’re giving birth, and if not, we’ll have Madam Chun make soup with it after you deliver," Yin Yang said earnestly.
Xu Mumu: "..." Was this fool trying to over-supplement her to death? This ginseng was almost the size of a baby’s arm; just one slice could probably cause a nosebleed.
"There’s no need for such a treasure," Xu Mumu said helplessly, recognizing the hefty price of such a large ginseng. This guy was obsessed.
