Chapter 147: Legendary Schema

[Schema: Earth Knight (Legendary)]

[Schema Abilities: Conduit, Reality Pattern]

[Conduit (Legendary): Channel the power of Dia the Builder into your attacks.]

[Reality Pattern (Legendary): Each of your strikes reshapes the world to help you dodge attacks or guarantee strikes.]

Faust read and reread her Schema a couple of times and just chuckled a little. This was ridiculously overpowered. He didn’t know what limitations it had—schemas, like Iron King for example, often didn’t show their weaknesses till you used them.

But with Reality Pattern, wasn’t Kylie functionally unbeatable?

If she got into a tough spot, she could just use Conduit. Divine power multiplied the power of players exponentially.

He had watched Berserk literally cleave the head of a giant monster in one swing. His speed and strength were just slightly above Faust’s own abilities.

And this was him just channeling enough of Anta’s power not to break himself.

’If I took the Pluto Knight position, I could probably crush most players with one finger.’

He walked through the hall as he thought of the current Pluto Knight. Faust met William a day after the Olympic Knights were announced.

William talked a lot of shit then, but was still reluctant to fight Faust. It was almost embarrassing how impotent he was.

Actually, it was annoying.

Faust wanted to break William again, beat him till he used his Conduit ability, then turn that power right back on him.

But alas, Little Willy was all bark and no bite.

He had been showing off the Schema on the training floors to anyone that would watch, though. Each of his strikes was powerful enough to topple buildings and crush steel.

All Olympic Knights had to do was activate Conduit and meditate, and they could increase their attributes daily.

William’s new Schema, Pluto Knight, had two abilities as usual. Conduit was a standard ability of all knights. His other ability was called Void Palace.

[Void Palace (Legendary): Trap your foe in the Void, where you can exit and enter at will. You can move and attack in any direction. And the Void Palace steals strength from your enemy constantly and increases yours.]

This was an instant loss condition.

If Faust got caught in this, he’d lose all his advantages slowly. And William would be in complete control.

As much of an idiot as that kid was, with such an overwhelming advantage, even he could win.

So should he just give up?

He walked into the elevator and the other people inside flinched and shuffled away.

There was a mad grin on his face.

They grew afraid he would just destroy the entire elevator.

Meanwhile, Faust was just thinking to himself.

’Win.’

Win.

That was all he could do. Win.

Fight or die. Destroy himself to win or lose to destroy himself.

The elevator doors closed with a ding and the mechanical bits of the machine rolled as they descended.

He had been on floor zero for his recommended psychiatric evaluation. It was optional, but he decided to go. Pretending to be under their control was an easy way to manipulate them.

Feeding them the usual impulsive teen stuff he had been telling psychiatrists his whole life would give him some freedom when he did what he wanted.

In the elevator, now that they were a bit sure that Faust wasn’t going to explode, the other people began to talk.

"Did you see the new Gate?"

"Yeah, out in that huge city. I’m so jealous of the guys that got sent to deal with that. They’re going to party until the World Council forces them to come back."

"Can anyone even pull them away? I saw some Ingram statuses and posts. Those guys are already going crazy. I haven’t seen that many bad bitches in a while..."

"The Olympic Knights will bring them back, duh."

"The Jupiter Knight is out there with them," the boy laughed. "He’s not coming back anytime soon."

Faust couldn’t help but listen. He hadn’t been sent out to deal with any gates because the World Council was prioritizing showing off their knights first.

The Olympic Knights chose their people and went out to deal with gates. Novice Village #1 had two knights, but neither of them liked him.

Sooner or later, the gates would grow to be more than they could handle, though.

But right now, William and Jason were the kings of Novice Village #1. Everyone looked at them like a source of pride.

The hashtag Novice Village #1 was trending for a reason. Jason and all the other Knights gained millions of followers in a day. Faust also gained a lot of new followers, but he had become a bit of a pariah.

Novice Village #1 would have had three Olympic Knights if Faust had chosen to be the Pluto Knight.

At least, that’s what idiots thought.

Klaus the Void had only given William the Pluto Knight role because it wanted to fuck with Faust. At least, that’s what he thought.

Still, two knights were still amazing.

It was a sign of prestige. Acknowledgement that Novice Village #1 was cut from a different cloth.

The elevator’s doors dinged open and a soothing voice spoke from the speakers.

[Compound Wave. We lead by example and change the world!]

Everyone cringed and walked out, but Faust found it funny.

Management had been trying out these quotes in the elevators and on walls. Safety procedures. Attitude management posters. Even trying to set up seminars that nobody would attend.

They wanted to try and mold the current Players into trustworthy people.

It was pointless. Power had already gone to their heads. Most of these people were average people barely living a few days ago.

Now they were superhuman, valued, and celebrities.

Most people just given all that money and power made the worst decisions quickly. And those people still had to work a bit hard for success.

Player were chosen overnight and randomly became special.

As he walked through Level 18 of Compound Wave, he texted Nirvana and Drekar for their locations.
