Chapter 426: Chapter 426: We Sure Are Fated
"Hey Dad, where’s Auntie?" Joy suddenly remembered something and asked with a raised face, "Auntie hasn’t called me in several days, and she doesn’t reply to my messages. Did she sneak out to play again?"
Upon hearing this topic, Tanya Sinclair couldn’t help but glance at Vincent Hawthorne.
She knew very well how much Vincent adored his younger sister, Yvonne Hawthorne—when she was with Vincent, no matter how many disputes she had with Yvonne, Vincent always sided with Yvonne.
Vincent held the steering wheel and remained silent for a few seconds before speaking, "Auntie... made a mistake and has to face the consequences. She might not be reachable for a while."
Joy blinked, somewhat understanding: "Then when will Auntie return?"
"When she truly realizes her mistake and corrects it, she’ll be back." Vincent said as he glanced at Tanya through the rearview mirror.
Tanya lowered her eyes, her face expressionless.
She anticipated that Vincent would find a way to absolve Yvonne of her guilt, would seek her forgiveness, and might even use the two children to emotionally blackmail her.
But he did nothing.
This surprised Tanya somewhat.
"Mommy, look!" Joy suddenly exclaimed excitedly, pointing out the window, "There are so many balloons over there!"
Tanya followed her daughter’s fingers and saw a vendor by the roadside, holding a bunch of colorful balloons, vibrant under the sunlight.
"Mommy, I want one." Joy looked at her eagerly.
Before Tanya could speak, Vincent had already pulled the car over.
"I’ll go buy one." He pushed the door open and walked quickly towards the vendor.
Vincent soon returned, holding two pink balloons, one a rabbit mother and the other a rabbit baby.
He sensed Tanya’s deliberate avoidance and knew she wouldn’t accept them, so he handed both balloons to Joy.
"Joy, do you like them?"
"I love them~" Joy happily took them both, holding them in her hands, "Daddy, we’re missing a rabbit brother and a rabbit father."
She asked with pure innocence.
"Only four make a complete family~ Just like us." Joy said more excitedly, hugging Tanya’s arm and pouting, "Mommy, you hold the rabbit mother, let Daddy go and buy more! I want to get one for brother too."
Seeing Vincent really having the intention to get off and buy more, Tanya finally spoke up, "Next time, Joy. Shall we go eat first?"
"..." Vincent paused slightly, his hand on the car door, then pulled it closed. He turned and looked at his daughter’s slightly disappointed face, "Behave, Joy. You have to listen to Mommy; she is the head of the house."
Tanya couldn’t help but glance at Vincent, who didn’t look at her, focused entirely on his daughter, as if the words were not intentionally ambiguous but merely to amuse Joy.
Indifferently, Tanya shifted her gaze out the window. Vincent comforted his daughter and restarted the car, adjusting the rearview mirror just enough to see Tanya.
He slightly curved his lips but frowned fiercely when his gaze fell on the rearview mirror’s reflection outside.
The annoying black G-wagon followed closely behind, maintaining distance regardless of whether Vincent sped up or slowed down.
At the restaurant entrance, Vincent had just parked, and the black G-wagon steadily pulled into the spot next to him.
Vincent exhaled in frustration.
As he got out of his car, Felix Kendall stepped out of the driver’s seat next to him.
"Oh, what a coincidence." Felix raised an eyebrow with a smile, but his gaze bypassed Vincent and stared directly at Tanya getting out from the other side.
Tanya was taken aback.
"Mr. Kendall?" Clearly not expecting to meet Felix Kendall here, she glanced at the family-friendly restaurant in front of her before looking at Felix again, "Are you working here?"
Felix chuckled.
He wasn’t wearing his uniform today, in a black turtleneck sweater with a dark gray coat over it, making his entire demeanor appear gentle and composed.
That smile softened his otherwise sharply defined features.
Instead of answering Tanya, he walked to the rear seats, opened the door, and a small hand emerged, followed by Margaret’s round little head.
"Aunt Sinclair!" Margaret’s eyes lit up when she saw Tanya, and she ran over, "Aunt Sinclair, I missed you!"
Felix strode over, meeting Vincent’s eyes, whose face was stern, and his smile grew deeper.
"We seem to have a connection, Mr. Hawthorne."
