Chapter 418: Chapter 418: An Idiot Who Satisfies Her

On the phone, Yvonne Hawthorne couldn’t believe her ears.

"Brother! I’m your own sister, how can you take Tanya Sinclair’s side and speak up for her?"

Vincent Hawthorne took a deep breath, "If you weren’t my own sister, would I have made this trip today? In any case, I can only help you this far. If Tanya insists on holding you accountable, I’ll get you the best lawyer."

After speaking, Vincent hung up the phone, ignoring Yvonne’s screams of frustration.

When Yvonne called again, Vincent simply didn’t pick up.

"Ah!!!" Yvonne was furious. She swept everything off the dresser in front of her onto the floor, shattering bottles and jars everywhere.

Looking at her disheveled self in the mirror, Yvonne suddenly noticed the rash on her neck in the corner of her eye.

She pulled down her collar and discovered that the small, inconspicuous rash on her neck from a couple of days ago had increased and was incredibly itchy.

Annoyed, Yvonne scratched hard a few times, drawing blood.

"What the hell is going on? This is so irritating!"

At that moment, a servant appeared hesitantly at the doorway.

"M-Miss."

She looked at the mess in the room, too frightened to come in.

Through the mirror, Yvonne shot her an impatient glare.

"Why are you standing there?! Are you here to laugh at me?"

This apartment belonged to Vincent. Yvonne had temporarily moved here to escape Mother Hawthorne’s nagging. The servant had been temporarily transferred from The Hawthorne Estate.

Fully aware of Yvonne’s temper, the servant dared not provoke her.

"It’s a misunderstanding, Ms. Hawthorne. I’m here to bring you your medicine."

The servant walked in with the medicine, placed it in front of Yvonne, and hurried out without lingering.

The medicine had been sent over a few days ago. Each packet bore the mark of Ian Sullivan’s clinic, with the prescription included.

Yvonne knew Ian well; he was Vincent’s family doctor. Initially, he was brought in to care for the frail Joy. Later, his trustworthiness and medical skills earned him the position of The Hawthorne Family’s private doctor.

Yvonne assumed it was Vincent’s way of caring, despite his tough demeanor, by having Ian prescribe medicine to help her regain her health, so she took it regularly without much thought.

About to take her medicine again, Yvonne suddenly had a flash of insight, realizing that the rash seemed to have started when she began taking the medicine.

But since Vincent bought the medicine, it shouldn’t be an issue...

While Yvonne wavered, the doorbell rang outside. She assumed it was Vincent, still concerned for his sister, and set down the medicine bowl to answer the door.

"I’ll get it!" Yvonne called to the servant, excitedly running to open the door herself.

But as soon as she saw the woman outside, Yvonne’s smile vanished completely.

"What are you doing here?" Yvonne coldly sized up Leah Thorne. Her outfit was entirely in the style of that bitch Tanya, and the two already looked alike. Now, dressed like this, they seemed like they were cut from the same mold!

Yvonne was full of anger and had nowhere to vent it.

Leah appeared oblivious to Yvonne’s hostility, calmly entering the door and casually glancing at the corner’s security camera.

"Yvonne, I brought you some homemade chicken soup," Leah turned towards Yvonne, offering a gentle, appeasing smile as she extended the thermos.

Yvonne slapped the thermos out of Leah’s hand, spilling the fragrant soup everywhere.

"Who wants your pauper’s stuff? Do you think sleeping with my brother makes you my sister-in-law? You bus like that wouldn’t even touch the threshold of my house!"

The nearby servant looked on with helpless eyes, too afraid to interfere.

Leah bit her lip, looking pitiful and meek.

"Ms. Hawthorne, please don’t be angry. I just wanted to check on you..." She glanced at the rash on Yvonne’s neck, a faint, unnoticeable smile playing at her lips, "To see how you’re feeling after taking the medicine..."

Yvonne was taken aback by her words.

"Those medicines, they’re not from my brother, but from you?!"

So, that’s how she got these rashes...

Realizing the truth, Yvonne, enraged, grabbed Leah by the collar, "You bitch! What did you put in my medicine? Were you trying to harm me on purpose?!"

Leah looked helpless, "I didn’t..."

But Yvonne wouldn’t hear it, slapping Leah to the ground!

The servant nearby was startled.

She attempted to intervene, "Ms. Hawthorne, please calm down—"

"Shut up! A lowly servant trying to tell me what to do?" Yvonne was blinded by her rage, grabbing a vase nearby to throw at Leah, who desperately ran forward in panic.

Yvonne watched as the foolish woman ran into the bathroom and locked the door. She laughed viciously, "Idiot! Granny’s in a bad mood today, looks like you’re here for a death wish!"

She ordered the servant, "Bring me the key!"

Though reluctant, the servant dared not defy her and went for the key, but sent a message to Vincent on the way.

[Mr. Hawthorne, please come quickly! Ms. Hawthorne is going to kill Miss Thorne!]

Meanwhile, sure enough, Vincent was on his way there.

This was his property, and with Yvonne staying there, he feared she might cause trouble again or sneak off without a word. Vincent had installed cameras throughout the house, except in the bathroom.

When Leah had entered, Vincent, through his phone’s live surveillance footage, had observed the situation unfolding here.

He was already driving into the neighborhood, leaving Joy in the care of the property management, and hurried up to the apartment.

Inside, Yvonne had already unlocked the bathroom door, and Leah cowered in a corner, trembling with fear.

"Ms. Hawthorne, you’ve really misunderstood me..."

Seeing her with that face so similar to Tanya’s only fueled Yvonne’s anger!

She locked the door again from the inside.

This action caused a flash of smugness to cross Leah’s face.

What a satisfying fool.

"Bitch!! I can’t deal with Tanya Sinclair, but surely, I can deal with you!" Yvonne swung a baseball bat at Leah. However, Leah’s demeanor changed instantly, facing Yvonne’s charge with a cold smile.

Leah caught Yvonne’s bat with one hand, and Yvonne couldn’t even wrench it free.

"Ms. Hawthorne—" Leah leaned in close to Yvonne, smiling, "Did you know? Since I was 14, I’ve worked odd jobs to support myself, doing all kinds of dirty and exhausting work. I even sparred as a partner in boxing rings..."

Her smile was frigid, eyes fixed on Yvonne as a hunter viewing prey.

"A pampered heiress like you, I could crush with one hand!"

Before Yvonne could react, Leah slapped her to the ground. She yanked Yvonne by the hair, pushing her head into the bathtub water, pressing down as she shouted to the door, "Help! Miss Thorne, Miss Thorne, I was wrong, don’t hit me anymore!"
