Chapter 392: Chapter 392: She’s Still Alive!
Tanya’s hand was instantly covered in blood, and she looked at Yvonne as if she were looking at a devil.
"Yvonne, what are you doing? Are you even human?!"
But the noise of the rotor was too loud, drowning out Tanya’s voice, and the rescue crew on the helicopter couldn’t hear a thing.
Yvonne sneered coldly, still pretending with fake concern.
"Sister-in-law, don’t give up, hold onto me!"
As she spoke, she scratched at the wound on Tanya’s hand with her diamond ring.
"Ah!!" Tanya couldn’t hold on any longer; the pain made her lose her grip, and she fell from more than ten meters into the sea!
"Sister-in-law!" Yvonne screamed mournfully, watching Tanya fall into the water, a faint smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
A dead person would no longer pose any threat to her.
The limited view from the helicopter meant they couldn’t see clearly below, only witnessing Tanya’s fall.
Once rescued, Yvonne was in tears.
"It’s all my fault, I was too nervous and scared! I stepped on her hand. I wanted to turn back and pull her, but she couldn’t hold on..." She cried, pretending to jump down, only to be pulled back by a rescue worker.
The rescuers exchanged glances and ultimately decided to take Yvonne back first.
This was how Yvonne ended up back at the embassy.
She finally had the chance to take a shower in a clean room, change into fresh clothes, and had medical personnel attend to her injuries.
After Yvonne was done tidying up, she was taken to an office.
Kyle Crawford and the local ambassador were inside, along with two rescue personnel from the helicopter.
Crawford’s face was clouded, the ambassador was on the phone, and upon seeing Yvonne, he beckoned her over.
"Ms. Hawthorne? Take this call, it’s your brother, Vincent Hawthorne."
Yvonne was about to take it, but Crawford suddenly stepped forward and snatched the phone away.
"Sorry, Mr. Hawthorne, I need your sister’s assistance in an ongoing investigation. Once it’s concluded, I’ll ensure she gets home safely."
With that, Crawford hung up the call.
He cast a grim look at Yvonne, a seasoned military man with a piercing gaze that could make an ordinary person’s knees buckle.
"Ms. Hawthorne, I’m Kyle Crawford, in charge of this rescue operation. Can you explain what happened during the rescue?" He pressed forward, coldly questioning, "Why did Tanya fall when she was already on the rescue ladder?!"
The primary task for this rescue team was to bring Tanya back safely!
But now, with Tanya’s fate unknown, they ended up rescuing a puzzling woman instead!
How would he report this to his superiors?
There’s something about this woman that Crawford just couldn’t warm up to the moment he saw her.
Under Crawford’s interrogative intensity, Yvonne felt somewhat guilty. She forced a pitiful tear and steadied herself.
"It’s all my fault... My sister-in-law kindly let me go first. But I was too nervous and stepped on her hand... By the time I turned to catch her, she just..." Yvonne wiped her tears, choked, "She just didn’t have the strength and fell. Mr. Crawford, my sister-in-law will be okay, right?"
She asked insincerely.
Crawford stared at her silently, his gaze too clear, as if he could see through the truth. Yvonne couldn’t help but feel a bit unnerved.
But then she thought, at the scene, it was just her and Tanya!
After Tanya fell, she most likely died from the fall, and if not, she would definitely be tortured to death if caught by Tom’s group!
With no evidence from the dead, what good would Crawford’s suspicions do?
With this in mind, Yvonne calmed down instead, "Mr. Crawford, are you implying you suspect me? It was my sister-in-law who saved me; how could I harm her? Even though she and my brother divorced, I’ve always considered her family! You can ask around, I’ve always treated her well, we even shared clothes, and were as close as best friends! Why would I have any reason to hurt her?"
Crawford listened impassively and was about to speak when there was a sudden knock at the door.
"Mr. Crawford, important news to report!"
Crawford: "Come in!"
The messenger came in, looking pleased, "Mr. Crawford, good news! I’ve been tracking Ms. Sinclair’s signal; just now, we relocated it! Still on Pyralis, and slowly moving; she should still be alive!"
Hearing this, Crawford sighed with relief, instinctively glancing at Yvonne. Though she hid it well, his years of interrogating criminals made him sharp enough to catch the momentary flash of disappointment on her face.
The relationship between her and Tanya was definitely not as good as she claimed!
Crawford ordered, "Okay, continue tracking. See if we can make direct contact! Also, prepare for a second rescue, and send more personnel!"
"Yes!"
