Chapter 86: Chapter 86: What Shouldn’t Have Happened Has Already Happened
"Miss, please come this way." The receptionist personally led Ivy over.
Meanwhile, Silas Blackwood had just called his father, Caleb Blackwood. But Caleb had no time to deal with such matters, so Silas hit a wall with his father.
Silas would never admit that he couldn’t even get a simple room number.
He was hesitating over how to tell Ivy, worried she might laugh at him or look down on him.
He turned and had just begun to speak, "Ivy, my dad said..."
Before he could finish, he saw Ivy already being led upstairs.
’The receptionist must have come to her senses,’ he thought. ’She knows I’m the eldest young master of the Blackwood family. Since I’ve gotten involved personally, of course she’d have to make it happen for me.’
Silas quickly chased after her. "Ivy, see? I told you I had a way. My dad must have put in a word with the hotel."
’That’s my father for you,’ he thought. ’He said he wouldn’t help, but he did anyway. For a second there, I thought I was going to be embarrassed.’
Ivy acted as if she hadn’t heard him. ’This was probably Quentin Blackwood’s doing. What does it have to do with Caleb Blackwood?’
The elevator ascended, floor by floor, and soon reached the level where Timothy Sherwood’s room was.
The receptionist only led Ivy to the elevator bank and pointed toward the room. There were bodyguards at the door, and afraid of getting involved if something happened, she didn’t dare go any closer.
Ivy walked over and explained her identity to the bodyguards. Soon, the door was opened to let her in.
The presidential suite was vast. The man Ivy had seen downstairs was leaning against a sofa, puffing away on a cigarette.
Ivy scanned the room but saw no sign of Thea Sherwood. The entire place reeked of a sleazy, suggestive atmosphere, the smell mixed with cigarette smoke turning her stomach.
There was a large trunk, and though she didn’t know what was inside, it clearly hadn’t been closed properly. The tip of a whip was sticking out.
It wasn’t hard to imagine what kind of "props" were inside.
On the coffee table lay a pair of torn women’s panties. Ivy didn’t know if they were Thea’s.
There also seemed to be specks of blood on the sofa. It was impossible to imagine what had happened here.
’Looks like I was a step too late. The worst has already happened.’
"You’re Timothy Sherwood’s daughter?" Charlie Rhodes spoke, his expression clearly one of displeasure.
’He hadn’t even had his fill of fun yet, and then Timothy Sherwood had called.’
’That girl, Thea, really was something else. So pure.’
Charlie Rhodes was old, his body worn out from years of indulgence. He wasn’t very capable in *that* department anymore.
But that didn’t stop him from enjoying his "games," or his preference for the young and beautiful.
He loved watching them struggle and cry. The look of shock on Thea’s face when she entered the room and saw him was especially exquisite.
Just like Ruby in her youth. Except Thea wasn’t as docile as Ruby. Her little mouth was vicious when she cursed, but it was so soft and sweet.
Besides, Thea had a great body and a wonderful scent. He’d already had a taste.
’Of course, Thea struggled. So he just tied her up. And with all the drugs he had on hand, there were plenty of ways to make her submit.’
’Besides, he had so many bodyguards outside. Even if *he* couldn’t perform, that didn’t mean they couldn’t. With a simple threat, Thea was scared into doing whatever she was told.’
’Sure enough, some of them just need to be taught a lesson. He liked them a little wild, yet obedient.’
If it weren’t for Ivy, he could have played a while longer. When he knew someone was coming, he had no choice but to have his bodyguards toss her out. Just dumping her in the parking garage was good enough.
"Hello." Ivy’s greeting was surprisingly polite. "I was having dinner here and happened to see Thea come this way. She’s my sister, so to speak, so I came to check on her."
"Thea? Isn’t she my god-granddaughter?" Charlie Rhodes feigned ignorance. "She’s at this hotel too? We should call her over. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen her in ages."
"Where is she?" Ivy asked.
"How should I know? What are you implying? That she came to see me? Well, go on and search then. See if you can find her."
Charlie Rhodes sized up the woman before him. ’She has a certain air about her,’ he thought, ’but it’s a pity she’s not very pretty.’
Since Charlie Rhodes was so generous in letting her search, Ivy knew she wouldn’t find Thea here.
’Timothy Sherwood was in on this with him from the start. He probably called Charlie Rhodes the second I hung up the phone with him.’
"You haven’t seen her?" Ivy knew the man was lying.
"Of course not."
"Alright. Since she was never here, do you think we’ll be able to detect her DNA on the contents of this trunk, or on these panties?"
"You!" Charlie Rhodes was stunned. This woman was really something else.
"Where is Thea?" Ivy demanded again. Her powerful presence made even Charlie Rhodes shift uncomfortably.
"If you say you don’t know, I’m calling the police. I know you rich people aren’t afraid of that—you can just bribe your way out of trouble. But you’ll still have to undergo an investigation. And we all know how much the media loves a scandal involving a prestigious family. Are you sure you want to risk the impact on your stock price?"
What a damn nuisance. A flash of rage crossed Charlie Rhodes’s face.
"You insolent little girl, you dare threaten me? Do you have any idea who I am? I could crush you with a snap of my fingers. I could make sure you never walk out that door!"
"I’m afraid that won’t be possible. I didn’t come alone. There’s someone waiting for me outside, and if I don’t walk out of here in five minutes, he’s bringing his men in."
"I know you’re a powerful man, and I have no intention of provoking you. I just want to know where Thea is."
’What’s done is likely done. But whether or not Thea chooses to use the law to protect herself is her own decision.’
’I’m here today simply because I don’t want to look back on this moment in the future and regret not coming. I don’t want this on my conscience.’
Charlie Rhodes stared intently at Ivy, his eyes cloudy with age but still incredibly sharp. After all, he had navigated the business world for decades, honing his ruthless tactics. Few people could meet his gaze, let alone overpower his presence.
But Ivy didn’t show the slightest fear or hesitation, as if she were facing nothing more than an ordinary man.
"Heh." Charlie Rhodes suddenly laughed, the wrinkles on his face trembling. "Interesting."
He took another drag from his cigarette. "How would I know? Perhaps you should check the parking garage."
Ivy immediately left for the parking garage. Silas tagged along behind her, completely lost and unable to make sense of the situation.
"Ivy, what on earth are you doing? Was that Timothy Sherwood in there?"
Back in the room, Charlie Rhodes viciously stubbed out his cigarette, the smile gone from his face.
He picked up Thea’s panties, held them under his nose, and sniffed. An expression of satisfied obsession spread across his face.
’So fragrant. Absolutely intoxicating.’
’No need to rush. It’s not like this will be the last time.’
