Chapter 85: Chapter 85: It’s a Job for Quentin Blackwood

"I don’t care where you are, get back here right now!" Timothy Sherwood’s hands were trembling uncontrollably.

What should have been a foolproof plan had unfortunately run into Ivy Sherwood.

Did he not know his own daughter? She was hopelessly single-minded and stubborn to a fault. Once she set her mind to something, a team of wild horses couldn’t drag her away.

A person like that couldn’t be persuaded. Threats and bribes were useless against her. And when she got ruthless, she’d turn on her own family.

The fact that she’d managed to get him sent to prison proved just how ruthless she could be.

Ivy was all too familiar with Timothy’s reaction. "That’s your own daughter!"

’This means Thea might really be...’

Timothy had always treated her poorly, so she wasn’t surprised that he would target her or try to make her forgive Gabriel Walker for money. That was exactly the kind of thing he would do.

But Thea was the daughter Timothy had doted on her entire life. To think he would sell her for money now... and to a man old enough to be her grandfather.

’That man, Timothy Sherwood, was truly rotten to the core.’

"I don’t understand what you’re saying. How would I know anything about Thea being there? I’ll tell her to hurry back. And you need to come back, too!"

"Timothy Sherwood, have you completely lost your humanity for money? Do you even deserve to be called a father?!"

"Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Tell me the room number now, or I’m calling the police. It won’t be so simple once they get here." Ivy quickly composed herself.

Thea was certainly a hateful and vicious person, but Ivy couldn’t just stand by and do nothing when something like this was happening right under her nose.

If Thea was doing this willingly, Ivy wouldn’t get involved.

But if she was being forced... Ivy had been through that herself. She couldn’t turn a blind eye.

But a lot of time had already passed—from when she first saw Thea in the parking lot, to waiting for Silas to arrive, and then ordering and eating dinner.

Ivy worried it was already too late.

But Timothy still stubbornly refused to talk. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

With that, Timothy hung up.

Even though Timothy hadn’t given her the room number, his tone confirmed that something was definitely wrong.

Silas caught up to her from behind. "Ivy Sherwood, what the hell is wrong with you? I’m telling you, if you’re thinking of getting a room with me, I’m not going to do it!"

Silas had thought she was rushing off to handle some emergency, but then he saw her heading straight for the hotel.

’Heh. So much for her act about not being interested in me and wanting to break off the engagement. Look at her now, couldn’t even wait to get a room.’

Ivy had no time for Silas right now. Security at a five-star hotel was incredibly tight. She couldn’t get to the upper floors without a keycard or a guest calling down for her.

Her only option was to try the front desk. Ivy approached the receptionist. "Hi, my father, Timothy Sherwood, booked a room here earlier. He asked me to come get something, but he forgot to give me the keycard. Could you help me get into the room?"

"Your father? We’ll have to call him to confirm."

"He’s on a plane and can’t take calls right now, but I can give you his ID number."

Hearing that Ivy wasn’t there to get a room for them, Silas grew even more confused. "Ivy, what on earth are you up to?"

"Young Master Blackwood." The receptionist recognized Silas and greeted him respectfully.

"Silas, I don’t have time to explain. Are you familiar with the staff here?" Ivy had almost forgotten about this rich kid. ’Might as well put him to use!’

"Of course. I’m a regular here," Silas said proudly.

"Great. Then help me find out which room Timothy Sherwood booked. It’s really important!"

"What for? You look like you’re about to bust someone for cheating. At your dad’s age, it’s perfectly normal to have a mistress or two on the side," Silas teased.

"I don’t have time for your jokes! Just ask, quickly!"

"Is that any way to ask for a favor?"

’This woman, Ivy... asking for a favor and still acting so fierce. She’s a total she-tiger.’

"Fine. What do you want?"

"I have my conditions. From now on, you’re not allowed to bother me. No calls, no texts. The farther you stay away from me, the better."

Ivy: "..."

’She racked her brain. She’d hardly ever called or texted Silas. She’d certainly never bothered him. In fact, she’d never even been that close to him. It was always Silas who sought her out.’

"I agree," Ivy said without a moment’s hesitation.

Silas tapped on the counter, as if trying to unleash his charm, and even shot the receptionist a flirtatious wink. "Hello. Help me check which room Timothy Sherwood is in."

’He would show Ivy what he was capable of. When he stepped in, there was no problem he couldn’t solve.’

’His only fear was that his charm was so overwhelming he’d end up captivating Ivy all over again.’

"Hi, which room did Timothy Sherwood book?"

"I’m sorry, Young Master Blackwood, but we can’t disclose guest information."

"Take a good look. I’m Silas Blackwood."

"I’m very sorry, Young Master Blackwood, but it’s hotel policy."

Rejected. Silas was mortified. How could he lose face in front of Ivy like this?

"I’m calling my dad." Silas immediately moved to call for backup. He had to get that room number today, no matter what. Otherwise, how could he ever face Ivy again? She’d think he was useless, unable to handle even a simple task, and look down on him.

Ivy: "..."

But when Silas mentioned Caleb Blackwood, Ivy thought of someone else who might be able to help.

...

Quentin Blackwood was in the middle of an international conference call when his phone rang.

Although DG Group was headquartered in Aethelgard, it had long since expanded into a global enterprise with branches in most countries.

Due to time zone differences, some meetings had to be held at night.

Seeing Ivy’s name on the caller ID, Quentin paused the meeting.

"Hello?" His cool voice was a little dry and hoarse.

’Ivy calling him at this hour... Did something happen?’

’Some time ago, Silas had arranged for bodyguards to discreetly protect Ivy. But after Gabriel Walker was sentenced and everything had settled, he’d withdrawn them.’

"Uncle, there’s something I need your help with."

"Go on."

Ivy quickly explained the situation and her suspicions, asking if Quentin had a way to get the room number.

Quentin knew that Charlie Rhodes was also in Lustre. It was no secret back in Aethelgard that the old lecher had a taste for young, beautiful women and liked to keep a stable of ’goddaughters’.

"Don’t you and Thea have a bad relationship? She’s always going after you. Why would you want to help her?"

"That’s a separate issue. Even if a bad person deserves to be punished, it should be by the law, not like this. Once something like this happens, it leaves a scar that lasts a lifetime. At the end of the day, she’s just a regular girl."

Quentin wasn’t surprised by her words. He just wondered if someone like Thea was even worthy of Ivy’s help.

"Mm. Understood."

After hanging up, Quentin immediately made another call.

Back on Ivy’s end, she was still waiting. A moment later, the phone at the front desk rang. "Hello, Chairman Archer? Yes, of course."

’The receptionist was stunned. How did this young woman get the chairman to personally call and authorize a search for Timothy Sherwood’s room number? Does she know the chairman?’
