Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Bringing Out the Recording to Crush Anna Nash
"You bastard!" Caleb Blackwood scolded. "Silas Blackwood, what is this nonsense you’re spouting!"
"I’m telling the truth! If you don’t believe me, ask her yourself and see if it happened!"
All eyes turned to Ivy Sherwood. Her expression wasn’t one of panic; on the contrary, she was unusually calm.
"He’s telling the truth," Ivy Sherwood said, her gaze lowered, making her expression unreadable.
Hearing this, Silas Blackwood’s expression grew even more vile. "You all heard that, right? She admitted it herself! It’s not like I was framing her!"
Sylvia Blackwood hadn’t expected Ivy Sherwood to admit it, either. She quickly jumped in to support her brother. "I knew you were a slut all along! You haven’t even married into the family, and you’re already doing things like this! In ancient times, you’d have been drowned in a pig cage for this!"
"I haven’t finished speaking. Why are you in such a rush? It’s true that someone attempted to assault me, but they were unsuccessful." Unhurriedly, Ivy Sherwood took out her phone and played a video.
"It was Anna Nash. Anna Nash made me do it. She said she was the future Mrs. Blackwood."
"I saw how Silas Blackwood obeys her every command, like he’s her dog."
"I only did it because I wasn’t thinking straight. In the end, Miss Sherwood wasn’t harmed by those guys. Miss Sherwood, please forgive me."
The voice of Gabriel Walker came from the phone, laying out the entire course of events with crystal clarity.
"I’ve already reported the incident to the police. They’ve confessed that it was Anna Nash, claiming to be the future Mrs. Blackwood, who sent them to assault me. Silas Blackwood, don’t you think you owe me an explanation for this?"
Ivy Sherwood’s gaze fell on Silas Blackwood. He hadn’t expected this to be connected to Anna Nash. He stammered, "You... You’re lying!"
"This is all just an act you’ve put on, isn’t it? Trying to sling mud at Anna! Anna is so kind!"
Ivy Sherwood’s voice took on an aggrieved tone. "Whether I’m telling the truth or not, Uncle Blackwood can investigate. See if I’ve told a single lie."
"I have no way of knowing if this was Anna Nash’s own idea, or if it was Silas Blackwood’s plot to humiliate me. I know you don’t like me, but a person’s reputation is so important. How cruel of you, to actually try and ruin me with such methods, and even spread rumors about me."
"Silas? What is going on here?" Caleb Blackwood stared at him with an icy gaze.
"It wasn’t me. I didn’t do it." He was completely clueless about the matter.
To him, Anna was the epitome of kindness, a beautiful soul whose smile was like a spring breeze and whose voice was always soft and gentle. How could she possibly do something like this?
"Enough!" Caleb Blackwood thundered. "I’ve told you before that Anna Nash is no good! I told you to break things off with her, didn’t you hear me? In other people’s eyes, you, Silas Blackwood, are nothing but a dog!"
"From this day on, you are forbidden from seeing her again! You’re not going anywhere—you’re staying home! As for that Anna Nash, I will deal with her!"
The meal was extremely unpleasant. Silas Blackwood slammed his hands on the table and made to leave, but at a command from Caleb Blackwood, men stopped him, took his phone, and escorted him to his room.
"Ivy, if this is true, the Blackwood family will be sure to make it right." After saying his piece, Caleb Blackwood also stood up.
Seeing her father and brother leave, Sylvia Blackwood glared at Ivy Sherwood. "You really are a jinx! With you around, my family can’t even have one peaceful meal!"
"You haven’t even married in yet, and the Blackwood family is already in constant chaos because of you. If you actually marry in, won’t you turn our whole world upside down?"
Ivy Sherwood stood up as well. "Aunt Blackwood, I have something to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now."
"Mom, look at her! Who is she putting that arrogant act on for? Who does she think she is!" Sylvia Blackwood looked as if her eyes were about to pop out of her head.
...
When Caleb Blackwood wanted to investigate something, it was never a difficult task.
However, as he watched the surveillance footage from that night, his pupils contracted, and he stared intently at the monitor.
In the footage, the tall man carrying Ivy Sherwood... was that Quentin Blackwood?
’My third brother is not one to meddle in others’ affairs,’ he thought, ’yet he actually stepped in to help Ivy Sherwood.’
’Could it be that he also knows Ivy’s secret? Knows that Ivy can...’
His eyes narrowed. ’No. Ivy Sherwood must marry Silas. That is the only way for the Blackwood family to have her.’
As for that Anna Nash, he didn’t object to his son having women on the side. But if that woman wanted too much, that was unacceptable.
In that case, he would just have to teach her a lesson.
Caleb Blackwood made a phone call and quickly gave his orders.
Anna Nash was still at home waiting for Silas Blackwood to return. She had even changed into a sexy nightgown that barely covered a thing, revealing everything it should. She’d put on beautiful makeup, and when she batted her eyes, she was as alluring as a little fox.
She knew this was what Silas Blackwood liked best.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Thinking Silas Blackwood was back, Anna Nash went to open the door barefoot.
With her current appearance, she wanted to give Silas Blackwood a surprise.
’She could even picture it: she’d open the door, and upon seeing her like this, Silas Blackwood would be unable to resist pinning her against it, lifting her thigh, and ravishing her without even waiting to take their clothes off.’
Anna Nash struck a seductive pose, making it easy for Silas Blackwood to grab her waist the moment he walked in.
However, when she opened the door, Anna Nash was dumbfounded. She looked at the several cold-faced men in suits standing at her door. "Who... Who are you?"
"Mr. Blackwood wants you to come with us," the leader said.
As he spoke, he reached out to grab Anna Nash.
It was too late for Anna Nash to shut the door, and she was no match for these men. She struggled, shouting, "What are you doing? Let go of me! I don’t know any Mr. Blackwood!"
Nevertheless, she was dragged by these men down to the parking garage. As they were about to get in the car, Anna Nash saw her chance, shoved them aside, and bolted.
"After her!" the men immediately gave chase.
Luckily, the parking garage’s layout was complex, which helped Anna Nash hide. But seeing them approaching, she was still terrified.
Suddenly, she saw a tall man nearby. Anna Nash ran over and threw herself into his arms. "Help me, please help me."
The man was tall and brawny, his face covered in scars, giving him a vicious look.
When he saw Anna Nash’s face, a flash of admiration crossed his eyes. "And how should I help you?"
Seeing the men in black closing in, Anna Nash stood on her tiptoes and kissed the man on the lips.
She was copying what she had seen on TV, using the man’s body to hide herself.
It worked. The men in black scanned the area. One of them pointed in their direction. "Boss, is that the woman?"
"Can’t you see they’re a couple? Keep looking! She must be hiding around here somewhere!"
Seeing the men in black leave, Anna Nash breathed a sigh of relief. She still had her arms around the man’s neck. She was already scantily clad and on the verge of tears from fright. Her eyes were red and filled with tears, looking utterly pitiful. Any man who saw a woman like this would probably have his heart break for her.
"Thank you."
The man’s mind was racing, still replaying the feeling of her soft lips and their sweet taste.
He had been with countless women, but this was the first time he had tasted one so sweet.
"They probably haven’t left yet. My car is right here. Why don’t we go to my car?"
Anna Nash thought for a moment, then nodded.
After getting into the man’s car, Anna Nash thought she was safe. "Thank you. You’re a really good person."
From inside the car, Anna Nash watched as the men in black, having failed to find her, drove away. Only then did she prepare to get out.
"Thank you," Anna Nash said as she reached for the door handle, only to find it wouldn’t open.
"Shouldn’t a ’thank you’ come with something a little more... substantial?"
"What do you mean?"
The man’s hand went straight for Anna Nash’s chest. "You dressed like this to seduce men, didn’t you? And just now, you’re the one who kissed me first. I saved you, too. Letting me have a taste isn’t too much to ask, is it?"
