Chapter 47: Chapter 47: He Deserves It
Gabriel Walker and the others were shoved into a police car. At that moment, he still had no idea that videos of his arrest had already flooded the internet.
When they arrived at the police station, the police told them to contact their families.
In this kind of situation, they would typically be detained for a dozen or so days, and their families would be notified.
’My wife can’t find out about this,’ Gabriel Walker thought. He decided to call her, tell her he was on a business trip, and then have his secretary come bail him out.
However, as soon as he turned on his phone, he saw several missed calls from his wife.
Before Gabriel Walker could call her back, a video message came in from an unknown number.
The video showed the footage from last night, of him being pinned to the ground by two men. It was as cringeworthy as it gets.
Before Gabriel Walker had a chance to delete the video, the same number sent a few more words: "You know what to do."
’This must be from Quentin Blackwood!’
Gabriel Walker was terrified. Just then, his wife called again. After a moment’s hesitation, Gabriel Walker answered. "Hey, honey. I’m on a business trip. I won’t be back for a few days."
"A business trip? Did your business trip take you to the police station?"
A tigress’s voice boomed. Gabriel Walker’s heart skipped a beat, and when he saw the woman walking toward him, he was so frightened that the phone slipped from his hand. It hit the floor and bounced to a stop right in front of his wife.
He hadn’t had time to turn off the video. His wife bent down, picked up the phone, and saw the scene playing on the screen with perfect clarity.
The longer she watched, the darker her expression grew.
"Honey, let me explain... It’s not what you think..."
But his wife walked straight up to him, raised her hand, and slapped him across the face. "So, Gabriel Walker! I can tolerate your usual cheating, but you’re into men too?!"
"I’m not..."
"Still trying to deny it!" His wife grabbed his head and started beating him, so relentlessly that even the nearby police officers couldn’t pull her off.
Gabriel Walker had long since had enough of her, but he couldn’t afford to lose his wife. Without her, he would have nothing.
"You’ve completely disgraced the Young family! How could I have ever ended up with a man like you!"
Gabriel Walker dropped to his knees and clung to her thigh. "Honey, honey, I’m begging you. Help me this one time. It’ll never happen again, I swear. Please, save me."
Although his wife was furious, she also knew that this was a disgrace to her family, the Youngs.
Besides, this matter had to be suppressed. Nothing could be allowed to jeopardize her father’s promotion.
After she was done hitting him, she went to speak with the police to see if the matter could be settled privately. After all, it wasn’t a huge deal—just a few men who had too much to drink together.
"It’s not up to us. If it were a simple case of group debauchery, it would just be a few days of detention. But now, someone has accused him of attempted rape."
"What?" Gabriel Walker’s wife shot him a venomous glare. "What is the meaning of this?!"
Gabriel Walker had no choice but to explain everything that had happened.
"I swear I didn’t lay a hand on her! That woman is so ugly, and she’s the one who set me up last time."
His wife was so furious she could have died. She gave Gabriel Walker another beating before finally going to clean up his mess.
After reporting the incident to the police, Ivy Sherwood threw herself into her work. She was preparing to do market research, looking into potential mall locations, rent, and other such details.
Nina Scott was beside her, scrolling through her phone and reporting the situation to Seth Scott.
Suddenly, she came across the video of Gabriel Walker online and quickly showed it to Ivy.
"Ivy, look! Isn’t this the guy you were negotiating with for the Sherwood Company? He was actually doing... that... with several other men!"
"Who?" Hearing Nina Scott’s words, Ivy Sherwood put down her work and leaned in.
And then she saw Gabriel Walker’s face on the screen.
Along with the other men from last night. Ivy couldn’t forget their hideous faces.
Looking at the media reports, it said these men were engaged in "that sort of thing" in a hotel room. When the police arrived, the room was disgusting, and they weren’t even wearing clothes.
The media outlets reported it in lurid detail, and the story was now trending at the top of the charts.
"So those men later..." Ivy Sherwood couldn’t believe it.
’Did they really... do it with each other in the end? In that case, could this have been Quentin Blackwood’s doing?’
Ivy Sherwood stared blankly at the screen. ’So, Uncle... he’s actually a good person sometimes!’
"Ivy, Ivy!" Nina Scott waved a hand in front of Ivy’s face.
"What are you thinking about? You’re totally spaced out."
"Nothing. Those people got exactly what they deserved."
"Yeah, they’re all scum. They should be locked up for life!" Nina Scott added, filled with righteous indignation.
Ivy Sherwood handed the phone back to Nina Scott and returned to looking at the list of addresses. She had already shortlisted several and needed to go survey the locations in person.
The incident didn’t affect Ivy Sherwood too much, but when it came to pressing charges, she wouldn’t go easy on them.
For the next two days, Ivy Sherwood was busy selecting a storefront.
She had high standards for every aspect, so it wasn’t an easy choice. She still had some money left, enough to support herself for a while.
That day, for the first time, Ivy Sherwood got home at six in the evening. The previous two days, she had been getting home at midnight and leaving at six in the morning.
Feeling a little exhausted, Ivy decided to go home, take a shower, and sleep until she was fully rested.
However, just as she stepped out of the elevator, someone lunged out, giving Ivy a fright.
Gabriel Walker was kneeling before Ivy Sherwood. "Miss Sherwood, I was wrong. I was foolish last time. It wasn’t my idea; someone wanted me to teach you a lesson. Miss Sherwood, please be merciful and let me go."
Gabriel Walker’s face was swollen, black and blue. Ivy almost didn’t recognize him.
"Gabriel Walker?"
’Wasn’t he arrested? Why was he released so quickly?’
"You just said someone put you up to this, right?"
Ivy Sherwood took out her phone and opened the camera app. "Here, say what you just said again. Last time, when you were supposed to ruin me and film it—who told you to do that?"
"It was Anna Nash! Anna Nash told me to do it. She said she was the future Mrs. Blackwood, and if I helped her, she would give me money and facilitate a partnership between me and the Blackwood Group."
"She said she was Mrs. Blackwood, and you just believed her?"
"Of course I didn’t believe her at first. But then I saw how Silas Blackwood obeyed her every command, like he was her dog. So I believed her..."
Gabriel Walker was still kneeling, kowtowing on the floor. "I only did it because I was momentarily foolish. In the end, Miss Sherwood wasn’t harmed by those men. Miss Sherwood, you’re a bigger person than that. Please spare me. Can you drop the charges?"
’The charge of rape is too serious. My wife and father-in-law both said that if this isn’t resolved, we’re getting a divorce!’
’I can’t get a divorce! I absolutely cannot get a divorce from her!’
Having gotten what she wanted, Ivy Sherwood turned off the camera and stepped back into the elevator.
"There is no way I’m withdrawing the complaint. Also, if you don’t leave now, or if you ever harass me again, I’ll call the police again!"
