Chapter 268: Chapter 268: The Wedding Will Go On
Quentin Blackwood picked up the medicine and obediently took it.
Ivy Sherwood picked up her phone again and sent a message to the butler at Norhaven, asking them to prepare some light food and bring it over.
For a moment, neither of them spoke, simply looking at each other. Ivy was the first to look away.
’I should probably find something to talk about.’ But Ivy didn’t know what to say. After racking her brain for a while, she finally came up with something. "Where’s Zane Linton? Did he go to take care of something?"
"There was something at the office, so he went there."
"Then should we get a couple more people to look after you? I see the patients in the VIP rooms here seem to have a lot of people taking care of them."
Especially people like Silas Blackwood, who acted as if they wanted their entire household staff to come when they were hospitalized.
’But Silas Blackwood is in this hospital too. I hope we don’t run into him.’
"No need. It’s not like I’m an invalid."
"Oh." Ivy Sherwood nodded, then let out a small yawn.
She had slept for a bit, but she was still a little drowsy.
"If you’re tired, go to sleep," Quentin Blackwood said.
Ivy Sherwood shook her head. "I’m not tired."
"I still have some work to take care of. The other bed is empty, and there’s a sofa over there. Go rest for a while. If you don’t get enough sleep, how are you supposed to take care of me?"
Ivy Sherwood was speechless.
’I haven’t even said I’d take care of him!’
"Can’t the work wait? You’re in the hospital and still not resting properly," Ivy Sherwood complained.
’I have a ton of work I haven’t done yet either.’ But her workload was definitely not as heavy as Quentin Blackwood’s.
Quentin Blackwood said, "I’ll be done soon. Don’t worry, the doctor didn’t tell me I have to stay in bed all the time."
Ivy Sherwood mumbled, "Who’s worried about you?"
But Ivy Sherwood didn’t stand on ceremony with Quentin Blackwood. She went to the other bed and lay down to rest for a while. Quentin did indeed have work to do, but with Ivy sleeping nearby, the sound of his typing became much quieter.
When Ivy Sherwood woke up again, it was because the staff from Norhaven had arrived with food.
They brought two meals: one was light, and the other was a regular meal.
Ivy was surprised. She hadn’t expected them to prepare a portion for her too. "Thank you, Uncle Linton. That’s very thoughtful of you."
Ivy expressed her thanks, but the butler, Uncle Linton, replied, "This was all on Mr. Blackwood’s orders."
Ivy Sherwood hadn’t expected Quentin Blackwood to go out of his way to tell the butler. ’He’s always so thoughtful.’ She lowered her head and ate quietly. For the past few days, she hadn’t had much of an appetite, feeling full after just a few bites. But today, the food seemed exceptionally delicious!
...
In another hospital room, Silas Blackwood stared blankly at the ceiling.
Beside him, Anna Nash was peeling an apple while Mrs. Blackwood glared daggers at her.
Yet Anna Nash acted as if nothing was wrong, a smile still on her face. Once the apple was peeled, she cut it into slices and offered it to Silas Blackwood. "Silas, have some apple."
"Get lost!" The sight of Anna Nash disgusted Silas. ’This woman... this bitch.’
’She’s utterly vicious, with the heart of a viper!’
’After ruining me like this, she’s now putting on a show, acting all innocent and pitiful in front of me.’
But as it stood, he couldn’t do a single thing to Anna Nash.
Anna Nash had been ruthless. She had utterly ruined him. It wasn’t just a simple severance; the damage affected his entire reproductive system. He would never be able to father a child, not even through in-vitro fertilization.
His only bloodline was now in Anna Nash’s belly.
Silas Blackwood had completely lost the will to live; he wanted nothing more than to strangle this woman.
He had been so good to Anna Nash before, giving her whatever she wanted, whether it was designer goods, cars, or houses.
’Where on earth had he wronged her to make her do this!’
The fruit was knocked to the floor, but Anna Nash wasn’t angry. "Silas, I know you’re not happy with Anna, but Anna’s love for you is real. I did all of this because I love you."
’This was Silas Blackwood’s fault, not hers. If he had just agreed to marry her sooner, he wouldn’t have brought this suffering upon himself.’
"Get out! Mom, throw her out!" Silas Blackwood roared furiously.
Mrs. Blackwood naturally sided with her son. She didn’t like this woman either. This woman who had harmed her son so badly. The previous car accident that was meant for her son was also this woman’s doing. ’Even Ivy Sherwood was better than this!’
"Didn’t you hear? My son told you to get out!" As she spoke, Mrs. Blackwood started to push Anna Nash.
Anna Nash stumbled. "I’d advise you not to get physical with me. I’ll be fine, but the baby in my belly is still in the early stages. If anything were to happen to it... well, I’d be fine, but the same can’t be said for your family."
Mrs. Blackwood was utterly incensed. She desperately wanted to slap her a couple of times to vent her anger, but she was genuinely afraid of hurting her grandson.
’Once her grandson is born, she’ll make this woman pay!’
’Then she’d keep the child and get rid of the mother. Keep the grandson and kick this woman out!’
Anna Nash was very proud. She could now do whatever she pleased in the Blackwood Family.
She sat down again. "I heard the wedding that Silas and Ivy Sherwood were preparing for was never canceled. The venue is still booked, and the guests have all been notified, right?"
Stroking her belly, Anna Nash continued, "It just so happens that the baby is still small. I think we should go ahead with the wedding as soon as possible. Otherwise, once the baby gets bigger, I won’t look good in a wedding dress."
"A woman like you wants a wedding?" Mrs. Blackwood was furious.
Anna Nash said, "We’re both marrying Silas Blackwood, so why don’t I deserve a wedding? At least I’m marrying into your family properly. I don’t even mind that it’s the wedding that was prepared for Ivy Sherwood. It’s ready-made, so it saves us the trouble."
"The wedding standards will stay as they are. I want the whole world to know that I married Silas, hahaha!"
With that, Anna Nash burst into loud laughter.
’See? Fortune favors the prepared. Everything she had now, she deserved.’
"You psycho! You crazy bitch!" Silas Blackwood grabbed a pillow and threw it at Anna Nash.
Anna Nash was hit by the pillow but didn’t get angry.
’Why would she be angry when she was about to become the Blackwood family’s daughter-in-law? She felt so proud and vindicated. She wondered if the Nash Family would regret trying to kick her out for her brother’s sake when they found out.’
"Since Silas doesn’t want to see me, I won’t disturb you any longer. Rest well, Silas. Anna will come see you again tomorrow."
After saying her piece, Anna Nash left the hospital room.
In any case, she had achieved her goal. She didn’t care about anything else.
’There was still a long road ahead. All she needed was the Blackwood Family’s money and status.’
After Anna Nash left, Mrs. Blackwood pointed at her retreating figure and cursed, "That shameless slut! How can such a brazen woman exist? She’s so obsessed with men, I wish I could find a hundred men to take turns with her!"
Mrs. Blackwood’s face was twisted in a snarl. The thought that this woman would soon be her daughter-in-law made her want to vomit blood.
But with Anna Nash using her pregnancy as a shield, she could do nothing but watch her act so arrogantly.
Silas Blackwood said, "Mom, I still like Ivy Sherwood. What do I do? I don’t want to marry her."
The thought that Ivy Sherwood and that beautiful woman he had always admired might be the same person made Silas Blackwood even more reluctant to marry Anna Nash.
