Chapter 267: Chapter 267: A Jealous Quarrel
After getting the test results, Ivy Sherwood headed toward the inpatient area.
Just as Ivy Sherwood walked over, Nina Scott happened to be coming out of a hospital room.
Before she could even close the door, Nina Scott called out to Ivy Sherwood, "Ivy, didn’t I tell you to go home and rest? Why are you back so soon?"
"Are you worried about me, or are you worried about my brother?"
Inside the room, Seth Scott heard Ivy Sherwood’s name and quickly had his assistant wrap more bandages around his leg to make his injury look more severe.
He had heard from Nina that Ivy had been there all of yesterday and had only left this morning.
"I... actually, Quentin Blackwood is hospitalized too. He’s right next door," Ivy Sherwood said truthfully.
Since the door wasn’t closed, Seth Scott heard this from inside his room. ’Quentin Blackwood is hospitalized too? Is he really sick, or is he faking it?’
"So you came to see him?"
"I hadn’t left yet. I ran into Zane Linton on my way downstairs and found out Quentin Blackwood was sick, so I went to check on him."
Nina Scott said, "You were up all night, and you still went to see him. You should get some proper rest."
"I did rest. I slept for a while. What about you, Nina? You haven’t rested at all, have you?"
"I’m not sleepy either."
"Well, you should rest soon. I’m going to deliver the report first." Ivy Sherwood held up the test results in her hand.
Just then, however, a voice came from inside: "Ivy."
Seth Scott was being pushed out in a wheelchair by his assistant.
"Seth Scott." Ivy Sherwood saw him, and she also saw his leg.
’Is it really that bad? Nina said it wasn’t a big deal, so what’s with this...?’
Seth Scott shook his head. "I’m fine. It’s just that the doctor said I’ll probably be in a wheelchair for half a month, depending on my recovery. If I don’t recover well, this leg might end up with a permanent problem."
Nina Scott: "?"
’When did the doctor say that? How come I don’t know?’
Seth Scott still wore a gentle smile. "Don’t take it to heart. My car accident had nothing to do with you. I wasn’t even thinking about you when I was driving."
Although Seth Scott said this, his words felt like a heavy burden on Ivy Sherwood.
He understood Ivy Sherwood perfectly. He knew what kind of person she was, which was why he resorted to such a cheap trick.
’If Seth ends up with a permanent injury because of me, won’t he hate me for the rest of his life?’
Seth Scott hadn’t originally planned to use this tactic, but who knew Quentin Blackwood would be even more shameless and show up at the hospital too.
"Brother, what are you talking about!" Nina Scott looked at her brother.
Seth Scott said, "I didn’t say anything. I just don’t want to put any pressure on Ivy. And Ivy, don’t take what I said yesterday to heart. I’m fine. After all these years, I’ve long since gotten used to loving you silently from afar."
Ivy Sherwood was momentarily at a loss for words, and Nina Scott also felt like her brother must have taken the wrong medicine today.
Just then, another voice interjected, "Mr. Scott is quite the romantic."
Quentin Blackwood had emerged from his room at some point and walked right up to Ivy Sherwood’s side.
"Ivy Sherwood didn’t take to heart whatever you said yesterday. Plenty of people like her, so you’re not that special. Mr. Scott, there’s no need to play the victim here. Don’t think you’re so important in her eyes; it only makes your affection seem cheap."
"Besides, your car accident has nothing to do with her, so there’s no need to keep bringing it up."
Even in a hospital gown, Quentin Blackwood exuded an imposing aura.
The moment he spoke, everyone else felt an immense pressure, not even daring to talk back.
But Seth Scott was indignant. What right did Quentin Blackwood have to speak for Ivy Sherwood? The two of them were already over.
"President Blackwood, you criticize me, but what about you? Aren’t you doing the same thing, using cheap tricks to play the victim?"
"He’s not playing the victim. He’s really sick," Ivy Sherwood said.
"You should get back inside and rest. What are you doing out here?" Ivy Sherwood tried to push Quentin Blackwood back into his room.
But Quentin Blackwood didn’t budge. "I just got up to get a glass of water. Unlike Mr. Scott, I don’t have a sister and others waiting on me. If I want a cup of hot water, I have to boil it myself."
Standing to the side, Nina Scott watched in awe. ’Is this what it looks like when tycoons get jealous?’
’It’s different from what I imagined. Shouldn’t they be starting a business war or something? Why are they just having a war of words here?’
’Who would’ve thought that the almighty, arrogant President Blackwood had a side like this.’
’But it looks like President Blackwood is still more formidable. He has our Ivy wrapped around his little finger.’
"Go back and lie down first. I’ll be right over." Ivy Sherwood finally managed to push Quentin Blackwood back into his room, separating the two rivals.
Ivy Sherwood looked at Seth Scott and said, "I’m very sorry."
Then she turned to Nina Scott. "Nina, I’m heading in now."
"Okay, you should go. Your Mr. Blackwood needs you more."
"Thanks, Nina. You’re the best."
Ivy Sherwood returned to Quentin Blackwood’s room, closed the door, placed the report aside, and poured him a glass of warm water.
"You also need to take your medicine." Ivy Sherwood placed the medication by Quentin Blackwood’s hand.
"The doctor said you can’t drink or smoke anymore, and you need to eat three regular meals a day. I’ll create a meal plan for you. Just have the staff at Norhaven follow it and deliver it to your office every day."
Quentin Blackwood rarely smoked and didn’t usually drink much either. The only issue was his meals. Sometimes he would only eat once a day, enduring stomach pain when he got busy.
Ivy Sherwood planned to speak with the housekeeper about it. If Quentin Blackwood’s stomach condition worsened, it could lead to other complications.
"Are you this nice to everyone?" Quentin Blackwood asked.
"What?"
"Would you take care of just anyone who gets hospitalized?"
"Do you think I’m that free, that I have so much time to take care of other people? By your logic, why didn’t I go take care of Silas Blackwood when he was hospitalized? Why am I not next door taking care of Seth Scott? Why did I have to come running over to you?"
Seeing Ivy Sherwood get angry, Quentin Blackwood immediately softened. "That’s not what I meant..."
He just got angry whenever he saw Seth Scott. He’d even had someone check Seth Scott’s medical report; the man was completely fine.
That man was just putting on an act, trying to look pitiful in front of Ivy Sherwood. He was just afraid she would be deceived.
Besides, what Seth Scott had just said was pure emotional blackmail.
"I just don’t want you to be deceived by Seth Scott."
"Do I look like an idiot to you? That I’d be so easily deceived?" Ivy Sherwood pointed at herself.
This Quentin Blackwood, who usually seemed so formidable, was being so childish about this. "Why are you stooping to the level of an outsider like him?"
Quentin Blackwood froze for a moment. Ivy Sherwood had called Seth Scott an outsider. Did that mean that in her heart, he himself was not an outsider?
’An insider? Or family?’
Seeing the corner of Quentin Blackwood’s mouth curl up, Ivy Sherwood was confused again. He had been angry just a moment ago, so why was he happy now?
’He’s so moody. Is it really a stomach problem and not a brain problem?’
’She knew Mr. Blackwood was easy to coax, but she hadn’t even started trying yet!’
