Chapter 224: Chapter 224: The Roses Ordered by Mr. Bo
The hospital wasn’t far from Ivy Sherwood’s place, so they arrived quickly.
Ivy Sherwood got out of the car. "Thank you for driving me home. Would you like to come up for a bit?"
"Is that a sincere invitation?"
"Of course. Absolutely sincere."
"Alright." Quentin Blackwood got out of the car.
"President Blackwood, you still have..." the driver started to say.
Quentin Blackwood tapped his hand on the car door, and the driver fell silent.
Quentin Blackwood had other business to attend to. He had squeezed in the time to rush over, originally just planning to visit the hospital. He hadn’t planned on driving Ivy Sherwood home, let alone going up to her apartment.
...
Back at the hospital, Silas Blackwood was tossing and turning in his bed, stewing in frustration.
’Ivy Sherwood was his just a short while ago. How did things end up like this?’
Mrs. Blackwood was at his side, looking after him. A servant brought food, but he had no appetite.
"Silas, please eat something. Just a little bite. Mom is so worried about you." Mrs. Blackwood held up a pair of chopsticks.
"I have no appetite. I can’t eat," Silas Blackwood said, his voice laced with impatience.
"How can that be? Silas, are you still not feeling well somewhere? Should I go get the doctor?"
"No, Mom, I’m fine. Can you please go home for now? I want to be alone and clear my head." Silas Blackwood’s mind was a mess.
’He understood his own heart now, but it seemed to be a little too late.’
"Silas, this is no way to go on. What kind of hex did that Ivy Sherwood put on you? She’s not even pretty, and her personality is awful. Mom won’t approve of you marrying her. Don’t you like that Anna Nash? She’s already pregnant with your child. How about Mom compromises? I’ll go talk to your father. We can make it work with Anna Nash."
’That would also be a good way to salvage the Blackwood family’s reputation.’
"I don’t want that bitch!" The mere mention of Anna Nash filled Silas Blackwood with rage.
He had been looking for Anna Nash for the past few days, but he had no idea where she had hidden herself.
’Even if she’s fled to the ends of the earth, I have to find her, get rid of the baby in her belly, and make that woman pay!’
"Alright, alright, we won’t have her. Mom will listen to you. What have I done to deserve this?" Mrs. Blackwood said, wiping away a tear.
’She blamed everything on Ivy Sherwood. If it weren’t for Ivy, none of this mess would have happened!’
Caleb Blackwood arrived at the hospital later. Looking at Silas Blackwood’s state, although he felt a pang of pity, he still cursed, "Serves you right!"
"Dad, you almost lost me," Silas Blackwood said, shocked that even in this state, his father showed no concern.
"You look like you have plenty of energy to me." After all, he only had one son. Wasn’t everything in the Blackwood Group destined to be Silas’s anyway?
"Dad, I finally understand now. Everything you said before was right. I’ve thought it through. I want to be with Ivy Sherwood. I’m willing to marry her. Dad, please, can you think of something? Let’s not call off the engagement," Silas Blackwood pleaded, looking at Caleb Blackwood with begging eyes.
’If he wanted to marry Ivy Sherwood now, his only hope was for Caleb Blackwood to step in.’
"Dad, Ivy listens to you the most! You must have a way!"
Caleb Blackwood’s expression was inscrutable. "You really want to marry Ivy Sherwood?"
Silas Blackwood nodded frantically. "Yes, really!"
"Good. Don’t worry, Ivy Sherwood will be yours."
’Although he had agreed to break the engagement, he had another move up his sleeve. However arrogant Ivy Sherwood was now, that’s how much she would regret it later.’
’He was going to make Ivy Sherwood come to him, willingly, begging to marry into the Blackwood Family!’
Silas Blackwood was ecstatic. "Thank you, Dad! Thank you!"
Mrs. Blackwood, standing nearby, overheard and was very displeased. "Honey, that Ivy Sherwood really can’t be our daughter-in-law. You didn’t see how she acted just now. She was so arrogant when she was yelling at me!"
"If my son marries a woman like that, there’s no telling how much he’ll suffer! I don’t agree to this!"
Caleb Blackwood shot her a look, and Mrs. Blackwood didn’t dare say another word.
She said weakly, "I... I’m just trying to do what’s best for our son. Don’t you feel sorry for him at all?"
"Just stay out of our son’s marriage affairs."
Mrs. Blackwood didn’t dare to argue, but she dug her nails into her palms. ’What on earth did that Ivy Sherwood do to bewitch her husband?’
’There are so many other women in the world, so why does it have to be Ivy Sherwood?’
...
The next day, Nina Scott went to get lunch with Ivy Sherwood and only then learned about the car accident.
"Are you okay? How could you not tell me about something so major?" Nina Scott examined Ivy’s injuries and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming she was alright.
"I didn’t want you to worry, and I’m fine, see? I’ll definitely tell you next time, okay?"
"Pfft, pfft, pfft, don’t say that! This isn’t something to celebrate. Let’s hope there’s never a next time."
Ivy Sherwood smiled faintly. ’Nina really is the best.’
"So, is that Silas Blackwood still in the hospital?"
Ivy Sherwood wasn’t sure. "Probably."
"He deserves it! Heaven must have seen what he did and decided to teach him a lesson. But why is he so lucky? Why didn’t the crash just kill him?" Nina Scott also despised Silas Blackwood.
Ivy Sherwood shook her head. "I don’t know. As the saying goes, the wicked live long."
"Ivy, wasn’t the Blackwood family preparing for your and Silas Blackwood’s wedding before? But your engagement is off now. I noticed, though, that the venue and all the wedding supplies the Blackwoods arranged haven’t been canceled. In fact, the preparations are still ongoing. What do you think the Blackwood family is up to?"
Hearing this, Ivy Sherwood’s eyelid suddenly twitched.
She had a bad feeling, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
"I don’t know. In any case, my engagement with Silas Blackwood is over. The whole world knows it. The Blackwood family can’t possibly force me to marry him now."
Nina Scott said, "True. Maybe Anna Nash’s threats worked. The wedding might be for her now."
Ivy Sherwood hoped that was the case. If Anna Nash really married Silas Blackwood, it would be a happy ending for everyone.
But after the scene Anna Nash had caused, her chances of marrying Silas Blackwood were probably slim.
"So if they get married, will you go?"
"No," Ivy Sherwood answered decisively.
"Why not? You could go just to make them uncomfortable."
Ivy Sherwood made a gagging face. "That wouldn’t make them uncomfortable, it would make *me* sick."
Nina Scott laughed. Just then, the doorbell to Ivy’s apartment rang.
’Who could that be at this hour?’
Ivy Sherwood walked to the door and checked the security monitor first. It was a delivery guy.
The delivery guy rang the doorbell again. Ivy opened the door. "Ma’am, these flowers are for you."
"I’m sorry, I didn’t order these."
"A Mr. Blackwood ordered them."
From inside, Nina Scott heard his voice. "Wow, is President Blackwood that romantic?"
Ivy Sherwood’s brow twitched as she looked at the huge bouquet of fiery red roses.
’Quentin Blackwood isn’t the type to order flowers. Besides, their relationship wasn’t like that.’
