Chapter 208: Chapter 208: Ivy Sherwood Threatens Caleb Blackwood

The secretary quickly checked and his eyes widened when he saw the shareholder transfer information.

How could he not have known about something this major?

’I’m afraid the Chairman doesn’t know about this either, does he?’

’Young Master Blackwood did an incredible job keeping this a secret. Now it looks like he’s probably finished.’

He hurried to catch up, only to see Ivy Sherwood already raising her hand to knock on the conference room door.

The meeting inside was interrupted. Someone quickly opened the door. "Who are you? Where’s Secretary Lee? Don’t you know I’m in a shareholders’ meeting? Why are you letting just anyone wander in?"

Just then, Caleb Blackwood’s secretary rushed over, his face pale and frantic, as if a major disaster had struck. "Excuse me, President Blackwood! This is bad, something’s happened!"

"Ivy?" Caleb Blackwood was also slightly surprised to see Ivy Sherwood.

Caleb Blackwood was extremely annoyed by Ivy Sherwood’s sudden intrusion, but he didn’t let it show.

He simply shot a glare at his secretary. ’How could he let her in!’

Caleb Blackwood managed to maintain his composure. "Are you looking for me? Uncle is in a meeting right now. We can talk about whatever it is later."

"I heard this was a shareholders’ meeting?" Ivy Sherwood said, walking straight in.

The Blackwood Group’s shareholders were not young. Everyone sitting there was in their forties or fifties, and some even had snow-white hair.

"Who is this little brat? Do you have any idea what this place is? How dare you just barge in!" one of the other shareholders grumbled, clearly displeased. "What is security even doing? Secretary Lee, get her out of here!"

They were already in a foul mood due to the company’s recent poor performance, and this sudden intrusion only made them angrier.

"Isn’t this the shareholders’ meeting?" Ivy Sherwood asked.

"If you know it’s a shareholders’ meeting, then get the hell out!" another one snapped.

"Ivy, stop making a scene. Whatever you have to say can wait until Uncle is finished here!" Caleb Blackwood said, his expression strained.

If it weren’t for everyone else being present, he would have already lost his temper.

’What is Ivy Sherwood thinking? She couldn’t get the engagement called off, so now she’s here to cause a scene?’

"Uncle Blackwood, I’m not making a scene. Why are you holding a meeting without me? Or did you not know I’m a shareholder?"

Spotting an empty seat, Ivy Sherwood walked directly to it and sat down.

The others stared at the young woman. ’Has she lost her mind? Someone should call the police!’

"Leon Lee?" Caleb Blackwood looked at his secretary, his eyes shifting to signal that he should remove her.

However, the secretary walked up to Caleb Blackwood, too panicked to heed the silent command. He pulled out a tablet. "President Blackwood, there’s a problem. I just saw it... Young Master Blackwood has transferred all of his shares."

"What? Who did he transfer them to?" Caleb Blackwood and the others were stunned. How could he know nothing about this?

The secretary glanced at Ivy Sherwood, and everyone else instantly understood.

All of his shares... that was ten percent of the company. None of the other shareholders in the room held that much.

In other words, apart from Caleb Blackwood himself, Ivy Sherwood now held the largest stake in the Blackwood Group.

"So, am I qualified to sit here now?" Ivy Sherwood’s voice wasn’t loud, but her words struck everyone’s heart like a hammer blow.

"Old Man Bowers, what in the world is going on?" one shareholder demanded. "No wonder Silas isn’t at the meeting. Are you telling us you didn’t know about this?"

"Has Silas lost his mind? What was he thinking, giving away all those shares!" another fumed. "I told you I was against giving him the shares in the first place! Just look at all his scandals online recently. It’s a complete disgrace!"

"This is absurd! Absolutely absurd!" a third shareholder chimed in. "A little girl like you, daring to call yourself a shareholder? You must have swindled them out of him!"

In an instant, the room erupted in anger.

Caleb Blackwood’s expression was thunderous. He turned to his secretary. "I don’t care what methods you have to use, find Silas Blackwood and get him here now!"

"And another thing! Why was I not informed about something this major? What do I pay all of you for? Get everyone involved in this here, now!"

Caleb Blackwood was genuinely furious this time. He glared at Ivy Sherwood, whose expression remained impassive. He, however, clenched his fists tightly.

"All of you, please step out for now," Caleb Blackwood said to the other shareholders. "I will give you an explanation for this matter."

The shareholders grumbled under their breath but eventually agreed to leave.

Soon, only Ivy Sherwood and Caleb Blackwood remained in the conference room.

Normally, Caleb Blackwood was always smiling, playing the part of a "smiling tiger"—someone who seems affable on the surface but exudes an oppressive aura.

Today, however, Caleb Blackwood couldn’t be bothered to keep up the act.

"Ivy Sherwood, what is all this? How did Silas’s shares end up in your hands?"

"Uncle Blackwood, you didn’t know? I’m not sure what happened myself. Silas Blackwood just suddenly decided to give me his shares. I think it would be best if you asked him."

Caleb Blackwood’s face was tight with suppressed rage. ’That rebellious son of mine!’

"I was just at the Blackwood family home to congratulate Sylvia. But besides attending the shareholder meeting, I also came to congratulate you, Uncle Blackwood."

"Congratulate me for what?" Caleb Blackwood stared at the young woman before him. He had always thought of Ivy Sherwood as docile and obedient, but now he realized he had severely underestimated her.

Anyone who could leave the Sherwood Family and build their own company from scratch was clearly not someone to be trifled with.

"On your becoming a grandfather, of course. Don’t tell me you haven’t seen the news online either, Uncle Blackwood. Anna Nash is pregnant, and it’s Silas Blackwood’s child."

Caleb Blackwood’s expression instantly grew darker. ’What in the hell is Silas Blackwood thinking!’

’That fool! Why didn’t I just beat him to death last time!’

’How did I raise such a good-for-nothing son? It seems the Blackwood Family is doomed to be ruined at his hands!’

"There must be some misunderstanding," he said.

"The whole world knows, so I doubt it’s a misunderstanding. Uncle Blackwood, it’s just the two of us here; there’s no need for pretenses. I’m here to officially call off the engagement," Ivy Sherwood said, stating her purpose directly.

"Anna Nash and Silas Blackwood are truly in love, and now they even have a child on the way. You shouldn’t stand in the way of true love, Uncle Blackwood. As for the Blackwood Group shares... if you agree to annul the engagement, I will return them all. What do you say?"

’If Caleb Blackwood still refuses to annul the engagement after all this,’ Ivy Sherwood thought, ’then I’ll really have to wonder what it is about me that makes him so determined to keep me in the family.’

Caleb Blackwood’s face shifted from pale to livid. "Ivy, I think we should discuss this further. All men make mistakes. He’ll settle down once you’re married. Besides, you know what kind of woman that Anna Nash is. I’m sure she’s the one who plotted against Silas."

"The fact that Silas was willing to give you all his shares proves how much he truly loves you. Why don’t we wait for him to arrive? Give him another chance, and let’s hear what he has to say."

’This Ivy Sherwood is really something else,’ he thought. ’She’s not easy to control at all. To think she’d use this to threaten me. With so many shares on the line, he was determined to get them back.’
