Chapter 173: Chapter 173: You Don’t Want to Marry? Then Let’s Call Off the Engagement
"Who are you calling a dog!" Silas Blackwood’s face turned ashen as he finally processed her words. He even raised his hand as if to strike her.
Ivy Sherwood looked down on him. "What, are you going to hit me?"
"I..." Seeing the look in Ivy Sherwood’s eyes, Silas Blackwood lowered his raised hand.
On the outside, Anna Nash was sobbing, but inside, she had already cursed Ivy Sherwood a thousand times over.
’She has no idea the live stream is on, and she’s still putting on this act.’
"Silas, don’t yell at Ivy."
"It’s all my fault. I just love Silas too much! Ivy, I really can’t leave him. You have so much, but I only have Silas. He’s my whole life. I can’t be without him."
"I’m speaking to him. Is it your place to interrupt? In what capacity are you speaking to me?" Ivy Sherwood’s gaze was sharp, and Anna Nash’s heart clenched.
Anna Nash ducked behind Silas Blackwood and apologized meekly, "I’m sorry."
Seeing this, Silas Blackwood shielded Anna Nash. "Ivy Sherwood, don’t you go too far!"
"Me, going too far? Our engagement is still active. Are you two planning to carry on behind my back after we’re married?"
Ivy Sherwood didn’t even spare Anna Nash a glance, questioning Silas Blackwood directly.
Silas Blackwood’s lips trembled. Looking at the pitiful Anna Nash, his heart ached for her.
"Ivy Sherwood, why can’t you just understand? You’re so ugly, it’s an honor for you to become Mrs. Blackwood. Rest assured, no matter how many women I have on the side, your position will never be threatened."
Ivy Sherwood sneered. "So, you’re saying you’ll cheat on me countless times after we’re married? And that besides Anna Nash, there will be plenty of other women?"
Ivy Sherwood deliberately rephrased Silas Blackwood’s words to be more blunt. After hearing it, the netizens erupted in a storm of curses.
"What the hell is wrong with this Silas Blackwood? I’ve never seen anyone so shameless."
"I take back everything I said about Ivy Sherwood, I’m sorry. She’s totally innocent! This bitch Anna Nash is the ultimate green tea. Those two make my blood boil!"
"Who does this guy think he is? He talks about cheating like it’s some kind of poetry. It’s so disgusting, I feel sick just listening to him."
Silas Blackwood’s face was livid. "Ivy Sherwood, do you have to make everything sound so ugly? I never wanted to marry you in the first place! Why don’t you take a look in the mirror? You’re disgusting to look at."
"Fine. Since you don’t want to marry me, then don’t waste my time. Let’s call off the engagement. How about that?"
This was Ivy Sherwood’s plan all along.
Since Caleb Blackwood could use public pressure to force her into this marriage, she would turn the tables and use that same pressure to force Silas Blackwood to call it off.
"I..."
Before, he wouldn’t have stood for Ivy Sherwood’s attitude for a second. If she wanted to call it off, fine.
But now, Silas Blackwood hesitated. He felt a complicated mix of emotions; he didn’t want to call off the engagement.
"Ivy Sherwood, our families have already started planning the wedding. Everything is in motion. You can’t just call it off whenever you feel like it! How can you be so selfish? Have you even considered the consequences?"
Silas Blackwood was once again blaming everything on Ivy Sherwood, implying that she was being unreasonable.
"Silas Blackwood, are you insane? You don’t like me. You find me disgusting. You insult me, attack my looks, curse at me constantly, and you even try to hit me. Your little mistress frames me with her self-directed drama. I haven’t done anything, so why should I have to put up with any of this?"
"I..." Silas Blackwood was rendered speechless.
Every word from Ivy Sherwood was sharp and precise. "What’s in it for me if I marry you? Do I get to watch you cheat on me every day and raise a herd of your illegitimate children? Or watch as you collect a flock of mistresses, each one trying to tear me down to climb the ladder?"
Ivy Sherwood had just summarized all of Silas Blackwood’s behavior in the simplest of terms.
Then she demanded, "So you’re the only ones who matter? My life means nothing?"
After Ivy Sherwood’s speech, the live stream chat exploded.
"OMG, what a premium-grade scumbag. I’m gonna puke."
"Are all rich families this messed up? Just let the girl go, for God’s sake. It’s obvious the mistress is trying to social climb by staging this whole thing. The poor fiancée didn’t do anything."
"If I were her, I’d probably want to jump off a-building by now."
"This is pushing her too far! He’s the one cheating, and he brings his mistress to her house to make a scene? What a dog!"
"And this mistress is the queen of green tea bitches. Look at her act! It must have taken ten years of practice. It’s so disgusting it makes me want to puke up last night’s dinner."
「In Norhaven, Quentin Blackwood was watching this scene unfold.」
His eyes, tinged with a cold light, narrowed slightly.
With him fanning the flames, Ivy Sherwood’s live stream shot to the top of the trending charts. The viewer count was now in the tens of millions.
The internet was abuzz, with nearly everyone cursing Silas Blackwood and Anna Nash.
"I... I..." Silas Blackwood couldn’t get a single word out. He even found himself thinking that Ivy Sherwood had a point.
Anna Nash probably never expected Ivy Sherwood to be so articulate. Unable to find the words to retort, she could only stand there with tears welling in her eyes.
"Don’t put it so harshly. I haven’t even married you yet, so how can it be called cheating?"
"Oh, really? So you’re saying once you’re married, you won’t fool around anymore?"
"I can promise I won’t have any kids with them. How about that?" Silas Blackwood offered, his voice lacking conviction.
Ivy Sherwood was stunned that even Silas Blackwood could say something so shameless.
Just then, Silas Blackwood’s phone rang. He quickly pulled it out and saw it was a call from Caleb Blackwood.
His heart leaped into his throat. It was his father; he had to answer.
"Dad..."
He had barely spoken the word when Caleb Blackwood’s roar came through the phone. "Silas Blackwood, you get your ass back here right now!"
Silas Blackwood was terrified. ’It looks like Father already knows.’
"I’ll be right there." Without a second thought for Anna Nash, Silas Blackwood rushed off before he could say anything more.
"Silas!" Anna Nash cried out, but it was as if Silas Blackwood didn’t hear her.
Once Silas Blackwood was gone, Anna Nash dropped her act.
Her pitiful demeanor vanished, replaced by a look of smug certainty. "Ivy Sherwood, do you really think this will make Silas break up with me? I’m the one he loves. You’ll never have a chance."
Ivy Sherwood’s live stream chat exploded again. "What is this, the innocent little flower showing her true colors?"
"Wow, what an act! Oscar-worthy. This Sister Thea is really two-faced, isn’t she?"
"The scumbag and Sister Thea should just get together already. Stop ruining other people’s lives."
Ivy Sherwood was dismissive. "Do you think Silas Blackwood is a complete idiot? You think he can’t see through your little tricks and your pitiful act?"
Anna Nash retorted, "So what if he does? He won’t hold it against me. All I have to do is act coy and he’ll come running."
Ivy Sherwood nodded. "True. You’ve spent all your cunning on manipulating men."
"Ivy Sherwood, don’t bother trying to provoke me. This isn’t over between us. We’ll see who has the last laugh. I will be the one who marries Silas Blackwood!"
"Oh, really? You don’t think Caleb Blackwood knows what happened today? You think he’ll do nothing? Or do you think maybe... he’ll deal with *you* first?"
At the mention of Caleb Blackwood, the color drained from Anna Nash’s face.
"Don’t celebrate too soon!" Anna Nash spat, slamming the door on her way out.
Ivy Sherwood just smiled and shook her head. ’Those two... each one is dumber than the last.’
’I wasn’t sure how I was going to get out of this engagement, and they just handed me the perfect opportunity on a silver platter. I’m definitely going to make the most of this.’
The power of the internet was a double-edged sword. ’I’ll contact Julian Grant. He knows more about this stuff than I do. I’ll have him buy me some trending spots and promote this.’
’This was all Silas Blackwood’s fault to begin with. As long as this blows up enough, I’ll have my chance to call off the engagement.’
Ivy Sherwood prepared to head to the Blackwood estate. She would use this incident to demand they break the engagement.
But of course, before that, there was one more thing Ivy Sherwood needed to do.
