Chapter 165: Chapter 165: The Gift Quentin Blackwood Bought

Ivy Sherwood withdrew her gaze. "Nina, let’s go. If you really like it, we can come back next time."

"Huh? We’re leaving already?"

Ivy Sherwood said, "If Quentin Blackwood sees me with you, wouldn’t it be easy for him to connect me to the person on the runway? Let’s go, let’s go, he can’t see us!"

With that, Ivy Sherwood turned and walked away quickly.

"Ivy, wait for me." Nina Scott hurried after her.

"Ivy, are you okay?"

Ivy Sherwood forced a smile. "I’m fine."

"That’s good." ’She’d always felt something was strange between Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood. As long as Ivy was okay, that was all that mattered.’

"Let’s go back," Ivy Sherwood said.

"Okay." Nina Scott agreed. On the way back, Nina Scott chattered on.

But for some reason, Ivy Sherwood didn’t feel so happy anymore.

Her mind was filled with the image of Quentin Blackwood and Joy Sheridan together.

’This must be what they call a perfect match.’

「...」

"Is it pretty or not? Quentin, say something! Look at me, which of these looks best?" Joy Sheridan tried on one after another.

"As long as you like it." Quentin Blackwood didn’t say it was pretty, nor did he say it was ugly. He didn’t even look at Joy Sheridan.

Joy Sheridan pouted, clearly dissatisfied with his answer.

She handed the jewelry to a staff member. "Wrap this one up for me."

She didn’t even ask for the price. After all, the Sheridan Family wasn’t short on money.

The staff member’s face lit up with a smile. This was a necklace worth millions, after all. Selling just one would meet his sales quota for the month.

"Miss, why not take a look at this one too? It’s another one-of-a-kind necklace from our collection. With your fair skin, it would suit you perfectly." The staff member brought out a few more sets.

Joy Sheridan had plenty of jewelry, and these all looked more or less the same. She wasn’t particularly interested.

"A necklace like this... only a young lady like you could wear it with such elegance," the staff member continued.

Joy Sheridan waved her hand. "Wrap it up."

The staff member then recommended a few other items, but Joy Sheridan had lost interest. "Is this all you have?"

The staff member thought for a moment. "We did just get a new pair of earrings in. Would you like to see them, Miss?"

"Well, bring them out."

The staff member quickly brought them over. They were a pair of retro, teardrop-shaped pendant earrings. The rubies on them were entwined with gold filigree, dazzling to the eye, and they immediately captured Joy Sheridan’s attention.

"These are gorgeous!" It wasn’t often that something caught Joy Sheridan’s eye like this.

Even Quentin Blackwood glanced at the earrings.

The staff member explained, "Of course. The crafting technique for this gold filigree is a lost art now. And these rubies were passed down from His Majesty the Emperor five hundred years ago. They’re one-of-a-kind in the entire world."

"Can I try them on?" Joy Sheridan asked.

The gems were red, and Joy Sheridan wasn’t sure if they would suit her. None of her necklaces were red because she’d tried them before and they made her skin look darker.

The staff member looked troubled. "Miss, this... I’m sorry, but these earrings are too expensive. Our policy states they cannot be tried on..."

"Expensive? How much are they?"

’They’re just a pair of earrings. How expensive could they possibly be?’

"Twelve million," the staff member quoted.

Joy Sheridan hadn’t expected a simple pair of earrings to have such a high price tag.

Still, a little over ten million wasn’t an exorbitant amount of money.

But she felt they wouldn’t suit her. ’Maybe I should just pass.’

"Never mind."

The staff member didn’t want to give up. The earrings were beautiful, yes, but no one was willing to spend so much money on them.

"Miss, please reconsider. They would really suit you."

Joy Sheridan hesitated again, thinking for a moment. "In that case, wrap them..."

"Those earrings don’t suit you," Quentin Blackwood suddenly said, cutting Joy Sheridan off.

"Huh?" Joy Sheridan was taken aback for a moment. "They don’t suit me? Then I don’t want them."

The staff member had been so close to making the sale, only to have it ruined by this man’s single sentence.

Before he could even show a look of despair, he heard Quentin Blackwood say, "Wrap them up for me."

Joy Sheridan was astonished. "Quentin, you’re buying these earrings?"

"Mm."

"What are you buying them for?"

"A gift."

Joy Sheridan grew anxious. "A gift for who?"

Quentin Blackwood didn’t answer. It was none of Joy Sheridan’s business who he was giving them to.

When he saw the earrings, he had suddenly thought of Ivy Sherwood.

Ivy Sherwood’s earlobes had a beautiful shape, and her neck was long and fair. The earrings had long pendants, and their retro style was something most people couldn’t pull off. Joy Sheridan wasn’t suited for this style, but Quentin Blackwood could instantly picture how beautiful they would look on Ivy Sherwood.

So, without any hesitation, Quentin Blackwood bought them.

"Tell me who they’re for! They’re so valuable, you can’t just give them to someone else. Why don’t you give them to me?"

"They don’t suit you."

Joy Sheridan was not pleased. Just then, Old Master Sheridan returned from the restroom.

"How is the shopping going? Joy, did you find anything you like?"

"I did, but..."

’She had wanted those earrings first, but Quentin bought them to give to someone else. They’re so expensive, who on earth could he be giving them to?’

Quentin Blackwood had no real interest in shopping. Seeing Old Master Sheridan return, he spoke up.

"President Sheridan, I apologize, but something urgent has come up at the office and I need to head back. If you and Miss Sheridan get tired of shopping, the driver can take you home. Please excuse me."

"Go on, take care of your business. Don’t worry about us. Thank you for your time, Quentin."

Quentin Blackwood left quickly. Joy Sheridan stomped her foot. "Grandpa, how could you just let him leave? He’s going back to Lustre tomorrow. It’s so rare that I get to spend time with him."

Old Master Sheridan sighed. "Joy, he’s not a man you can handle. How about Grandpa introduces you to some other fine young men?"

"I don’t want to! Grandpa, you know I only like Quentin. Am I your real granddaughter or not? Why won’t you help me?"

"I could have been watching him perfectly fine in Lustre, but you insisted on calling me back."

Old Master Sheridan said, "Quentin Blackwood is not like other men. The more you cling to him, the more annoyed he’ll get with you."

"I don’t want to hear it!" Joy Sheridan turned and ran off.

She didn’t care whether Old Master Sheridan, who was behind her, could keep up.

「...」

Back at the hotel, Ivy Sherwood felt a bit tired. She put her things down, went straight into the bathroom for a shower, and then lay down on the bed.

Seeing this, Nina Scott spoke up, "Ivy, you’re going to bed this early?"

"Mm." Ivy Sherwood buried her head in the blankets. "I’m a little sleepy."

Nina Scott hesitated. "You... you saw Quentin Blackwood. It’s affecting you, isn’t it?"

Ivy Sherwood’s head popped out from under the covers. "What does it have to do with him? Why would I be affected? It’s not like my world revolves around him."

"Then why are you acting so strange?"

"How am I acting strange? I’m being perfectly normal! I’m just sleepy, that’s all. Don’t we have to go back to Lustre tomorrow? Let’s sleep, hurry up and sleep!"

Ivy Sherwood pulled Nina Scott down to lie with her. ’If I can just fall asleep, I won’t have to think about Quentin Blackwood!’
