Chapter 164: Chapter 164: Seeing Quentin Blackwood and Joy Sheridan Shopping
"Is that so? What does that have to do with me?" Ivy Sherwood said coldly.
Silas Blackwood heard Ivy Sherwood’s voice, which sounded perfectly normal. She didn’t seem jealous at all. ’Could I have been overthinking it? Does Ivy not actually have feelings for my uncle?’
"I’m busy. I’m hanging up." With that, Ivy Sherwood hung up on Silas Blackwood.
"Hey... I wasn’t finished, you—!" Silas Blackwood saw that the call had been disconnected, and a flicker of anger sparked within him.
’That Ivy Sherwood... It was one thing for her not to answer my calls, but to hang up on me? And here I was, planning to be merciful and grace her with a few more words.’
But he wasn’t sure when it started; he’d found Ivy Sherwood’s voice had become quite pleasant to listen to. It gave him a strange, ticklish feeling.
"Ivy, what’s wrong? Who were you on the phone with?" Nina Scott asked, noticing Ivy Sherwood’s darkened expression.
"Silas Blackwood. I don’t know what’s gotten into him again." In Ivy Sherwood’s eyes, Silas Blackwood was always acting crazy.
"Shouldn’t he be with his Anna Nash? Why is he calling you?"
"Who knows? Come on, let’s go get something to eat. We finally made it to Aethelgard, so of course we have to enjoy all the food here!" Ivy Sherwood said, pulling Nina Scott along, ready to sample more of the local cuisine before heading back.
...
Joy Sheridan also heard the news that Quentin Blackwood had returned to Aethelgard. She immediately went straight to the DG Group.
’If Quentin Blackwood was back, he would definitely be at the company.’
When the Sheridan family’s young lady arrived, the security guards couldn’t stop her. One went to Quentin Blackwood’s office with a troubled expression.
Quentin Blackwood glanced over, rubbed the bridge of his nose, and dismissed the guard.
"Quentin, why didn’t you tell me you were back? How long are you staying this time? Does this mean you’re not going back to Lustre?" Joy Sheridan’s eyes were filled with nothing but Quentin.
"I’m leaving tomorrow," Quentin Blackwood said flatly.
"Huh? You’re going back to that backwater place? What’s so great about it? Why are you in such a hurry? Can’t you stay in Aethelgard a little longer?" Joy Sheridan complained.
Quentin Blackwood fixed his cold, sharp eyes on her, and Joy Sheridan had no choice but to shut her mouth.
After a moment, she spoke again. "Last time, you promised you’d have a meal with me before I left, but we never got to because of those people. No matter what, you have to have dinner with me today."
"I don’t have time."
Joy Sheridan said, "I’m not asking you to eat out with me. Grandpa knows you’re back, too, and he wants you to have a meal at the Sheridan residence. I’ll have Grandpa call you!"
Not long after, a call from Old Master Sheridan did indeed come through to Quentin Blackwood’s phone.
Quentin Blackwood had always respected the old master, so this was a dinner he couldn’t refuse.
Quentin Blackwood went to the Sheridan residence and had a simple meal.
Old Master Sheridan was getting on in years. His son and daughter-in-law had passed away in an accident, leaving him with only his granddaughter, so he had always doted on Joy.
Now that the old master was old, the person he worried about most was Joy Sheridan.
’This granddaughter of mine... I’ve spoiled her rotten since she was a child. She’s willful and unreasonable. If there’s no one to protect her, what will become of her in the future?’
Obviously, Quentin Blackwood was the best candidate.
Old Master Sheridan could also see that Quentin Blackwood had no feelings for his granddaughter, but Joy Sheridan had her heart set on Quentin.
Old Master Sheridan also chatted with Quentin Blackwood about some recent business matters. Quentin said he was busy and took his leave after a short while.
"Grandpa!" Joy Sheridan tugged on the old master’s sleeve, repeatedly giving him meaningful looks.
Understanding the signal, the old master said to Quentin Blackwood, "Quentin, if you’re not busy, would you be willing to accompany this old man for a walk?"
Quentin Blackwood paused for a moment. "I can."
"Grandpa, let’s go to the mall. Didn’t you say last time that it’s been a while since you’ve been out where it’s lively?" Joy Sheridan suggested.
The old master smiled. "Alright."
Then he looked at Quentin. "You don’t have any objections, do you, Quentin?"
Quentin Blackwood’s brow twitched. "No objections."
Aethelgard was a vast city, and it was even more beautiful at night. Neon lights flickered, illuminating the city that never sleeps.
The pace of the city was frenetic. Even at this hour, many people were still busy with work, or just finally getting out to relax.
The mall was brightly lit and crowded with people.
Joy Sheridan was delighted to be with Quentin. She walked ahead, while Quentin and Old Master Sheridan followed behind.
"Quentin," Old Master Sheridan began.
"President Sheridan."
"This old man is getting on in years. In the future, my granddaughter will need more of your help. I’ve spoiled her, so she’ll need you to look after her. Help her when you can. Please, do it for this old man’s sake. I’m begging you."
Quentin Blackwood remembered his debt to the Sheridan Family. He said, "If there’s ever a time you need my help in the future, you only need to ask."
Old Master Sheridan knew that a man like Quentin Blackwood wasn’t someone Joy could hold onto.
The mall was huge. Joy Sheridan had wandered over to a jewelry store.
"Grandpa, Quentin, what are you two talking about over there? Hurry up and come here!"
Joy Sheridan waved at them, urging them to come over quickly.
This was a top-tier luxury jewelry store. The rows of expensive jewels were clearly worth a fortune at a single glance.
Diamonds glittered under the lights. Most women would be unable to tear their eyes away from such a sight; no one could resist the allure of jewels.
"Quentin, you go ahead and browse with Joy. I’m going to the restroom."
"Go ahead, Grandpa. Quentin and I will just look around."
As she spoke, Joy Sheridan hooked her arm through Quentin Blackwood’s and led him away.
...
Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott had eaten a lot and were now completely stuffed.
They decided to walk around for a bit to digest before heading back. They had bought a lot of things and were both now carrying several bags.
Shopping really was a joy. Both Ivy Sherwood and Nina Scott were in high spirits. Ivy had bought gifts for everyone at her studio, so she was carrying a huge pile of bags.
Nina Scott said, "I’ve seen this mall online so many times. I’m glad we finally got to visit. It really is crowded."
"Mhm, should we head back to the hotel now?"
"My feet are about to fall off. Good thing our flight isn’t until tomorrow evening. We can sleep in until noon, then go out for one more meal in the afternoon!"
Nina Scott already had tomorrow planned out. The two of them came down from the second floor together.
Nina Scott said, "I remember there’s a famous jewelry store here, different from all the others. Want to go check it out?"
"Sure," Ivy Sherwood agreed.
"I remember the directions from online... it should be this way."
Nina Scott looked around, searching for the store.
"There!" Nina Scott pointed at the sign.
Ivy Sherwood followed her gaze, and her steps faltered. Just as Nina Scott was about to go over, Ivy grabbed her. "Nina, don’t."
Nina Scott looked over, confused, and then she saw him—the tall figure inside the jewelry store.
"Isn’t that Quentin Blackwood? And with him is that rumored girlfriend of his we saw last time!"
Quentin Blackwood’s back was to her, so Ivy Sherwood could only see him from behind.
Joy Sheridan, on the other hand, had a blissful smile on her face. She picked up a necklace, held it against her neck, and then asked Quentin, "Is it pretty?"
